SSS Awakening: I Can Steal Attributes
Chapter 112: Deal
Noah nodded his head and replied to Victor as he was told.
It did not take long for them to receive his answer.
"Sure, no problem. How’s 10 Awakened Credits per point sound?"
Seeing that, even Noah, who came from a rich family, was taken aback.
The price he offered was just too generous. It must be noted that each point has an approximate value of 5 Awakened Credits as per Dether’s calculation. Victor offers 10 Awakened Credits for each point, essentially double its current market value.
Desther stared at Victor’s message.
To be honest, he did not expect Victor would be this generous.
During their previous interaction and the way he handled situations, recruited subordinates, and so on, Desther knew that Victor was not a foolish man.
For him to offer 10 Awakened Credits for one point, aside from taking first place, there must be another deep reason for his actions.
Although Desther did not know what it was, he was positive that he was right.
"Interesteng..." he muttered as he told Noah to agree.
However, before Noah could press the send button, Victor once again sent another message.
"Of course, I have another condition for giving such high Awakened Credits in exchange for a point. Are you willing to hear it?"
Noah looked at Desther, waiting for his answer.
At this point, even Noah himself realized that the message was not addressed to him but to Desther.
Seeing him nod, Noah replied, "Sure," to his message, in which they received a reply almost immediately.
"Well, it’s actually not that hard. My only condition is that, as long as you supply the points to me, no one in the top 10 should be able to buy this service from you. What do you think?’
Seeing that, Noah heaved a sigh of relief.
"For a moment, I thought he would try to recruit us into his gang..."
’So he wants us to be his exclusive points provider, huh.’
From the looks of it, he was indeed desperate to get that first place above anything else.
"Reply 15," Desther responded coldly.
He would be a fool if he did not take advantage of this situation.
Victor and his gang still had some unfinished business with him as well, so he could consider this an initial payback to the inconvenience they have caused him.
Fifteen Awakened Credits was already a lot in exchange for one point. However, considering how desperate he was, Desther did not think that he would refuse.
If he doesn’t want it, then maybe someone in the top 10 would.
"Alright, I agree."
Indeed, Victor agreed after a moment of hesitation.
"Wow, what a steal!"
Noah commented to the side, not expecting the simple reply like 15 could actually be pulled off.
Although he did not know what happened, he knew that it was very impressive.
"So, from now on, we’re just gonna be his supplier?"
Desther nodded his head.
"It’s gonna be foolish if we still sell it for just 3 Awakened Credits when we can sell it for 15, right? We are not running a charity here."
Noah shrugged his shoulders upon hearing that.
"That does make sense."
With that, Noah began to reply to their previous client. Telling them a reason that since he was exposed, he would no longer be able to provide the points.
This caused a lot of dissatisfaction to go around. It even went as far as the clients cursing Leodero and that guy who exposed his business.
Seeing their constant bickering in the group chat seemed to provide Noah with solace.
He did not expect that seeing those people cursing at each other was actually this enjoyable.
He could not help but smile in glee as he followed behind Desther.
Deeper in the valley, the amount of monsters they encountered was definitely a lot compared to the periphery of Veldora Woods.
Desther did not know of the background of this valley, but he assumed that a lot of dungeons must have existed here some time ago.
’I wonder what is the prerequisite of dungeon forming...’ this thought could not help pop up in his mind.
This topic was already explored by the experts, but up until this moment, there was still no concrete answer to that question.
As of this moment, dungeon formation was still tantamount to random. Unlike the weather before the apocalypse, it could not be predicted and calculated.
Nowadays, though, even the weather can no longer be predicted.
Before the apocalypse, Desther knew that the Philippines typically encounters an average of twenty typhoons per year.
After the apocalypse, though, that number had doubled, and there were times that two typhoons would hit in the same week.
The only explanation the experts had toward it was that it was due to the global situation and maybe the atmosphere getting stirred by some unknown monsters in the Pacific Sea.
The usual blame it on global warming has long been overdue. No one believed it anymore.
Due to the existence of mana, trees were taller and more abundant than they were before.
The ozone layer was said to be healing at a visible rate.
Cities that caused global emissions were destroyed overnight. If there was still global warming even after all that, then maybe humans would truly be good riddance for Earth.
Killing five monsters in the span of a few minutes, Noah sent them all to Victor. The payment, 75 Awakened Credits, was deposited to his account as soon as Victor saw it.
Using the Sense skill frequently, his mastery toward it steadily increased.
With Desther using Sense, no monster could escape their sight. At a hundred-meter radius with Desther as the center, monsters would be as good as being in the open.
Reaching a cliff, Desther and Noah paused, observing their surroundings.
Looking at the map, Desther realized that they had come even deeper in the valley.
Past this cliff would be another area. It was an area with more advanced-level monsters. Tier 1 monsters would be common there and some Tier 2, and even Tier 3 might be present.
"Let’s circle around and then return to our tree house," Desther decided after a moment of consideration.
With his current strength, not to mention Tier 1 monsters, even Tier 2 Monsters would find it hard to kill him.
If they proceeded further, he would be safe and would surely be able to escape unscathed.
However, he did not think that it was necessary.
This was just a simple school activity that has been turned into a competition. There was no need to overdo himself and kill Tier 1 monsters and submit them for points.
Heck, the school might not have even considered any student killing a Tier 1 monster since they did not provide the amount of points they would gain if they ever killed one.
Nowadays, safety has always been a priority.
The government and the world do not need Awakened Professionals that could skip levels and fight strong monsters ahead of their levels.
What they needed was an Awakened Professional that was tenacious with a good survival ability.
A live Awakened Professional was better than a strong dead Awakened Professional after all.
Noah nodded his head upon hearing Desther’s decision.
Desther calls the shots, so if he said that they will return, then they will return. No questions asked.
Just as they were about to turn around and begin their journey back, though, Desther suddenly sensed a commotion in the distance.
He immediately activated Sense, and what he saw with it made him pause and turn toward that direction.
"What is it, boss?"
Noah heard the commotion and asked Desther.
The commotion was too loud after all.
As a matter of fact, it even caused a slight tremor beneath their feet.
"Earth Bisons... and it’s a herd.’
Desther answered, recognizing the monster in the distance with just the sound of the hooves and with his Sense.
"Shit! Earth Bison? Is this the stampede? Can we take it, boss? I heard their stampede could not be stopped..." Noah began to worry after hearing Desther’s words.
Earth Bison was also a famous monster that wreaked havoc in many cities.
They have earth affinities and could use skills to alter the terrain. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
They were a cause of major headaches for a lot of Awakened Professionals back then due to their skills, especially during their stampede. Their combat strength was also pretty good.
According to the details he knew online, most Earth Bison has a level of around level 5 and 10.
They would be sighted alone, but there were cases that they would be in a herd as well.
When in a herd, Earth Bison’s could cause a destructive stampede, as the experts call it.
During the stampede, no one would be able to get in their way.
Buildings, no matter how tall, would be demolished and destroyed without a question.
They were the cause of the destruction of some of the cities Desther knew. Those cities were razed to the ground, literally.
"There should be forty Earth Bisons... they are indeed on a stampede. They’re moving toward the south."
Inside his mind, Desther had already calculated how many Awakened Credits he would receive if he ever hunted them all.
With over forty of them, it was already a guaranteed 600 Awakened Credits.
Earth Bison’s horns were expensive too.
This was definitely a huge profit.
"Stay here, I’ll go meet them."
Desther did not hesitate anymore.
His figure blurred in Noah’s vision, and the next thing he realized, Desther was no longer in front of him.
"Shit!’
Noah cursed but did not follow. Instead, he searched for vantage points to see what was going on.
More than anything else, he was also curious how Desther would fight the herd of Earth Bisons that was on a stampede.
Meanwhile, Desther finally managed to get a sight of the herd after a few seconds of running.
Without wasting any time, a Magic Bullet the size of his fist showed up and was sent toward the stampede.
