SSS Awakening: I Can Steal Attributes
Chapter 84: Monster Meat
Demon Bunnies after Demon Bunnies were killed.
The perimeter of their tree house was actually full of them. It was a good thing that they decided to clear up the surroundings in advance, else, they would surely not be able to sleep peacefully at night.
It was already almost midnight when the two of them decided to call it a day.
All in all, the two of them managed to kill a total of 15 monsters, 13 of which were Demon Bunnies while the remaining two were a pair of Devil Boars.
The fight with the Devil Boars took them a long time, since the boars had a tough hide that made it impossible to disable them with just one bullet alone.
Among the fifteen monsters they killed, nine give them experience points.
Desther managed to earn a total of 10% while Noah surprisingly leveled up to 2.
As for the total Free Attributes he managed to steal using his talent, Desther was able to accumulate a total of 43. His total Free Attribute was now at 78.
He still did not distribute them. He planned to do it after reaching Level 10. By that time, he should already be able to decide what kind of build he would go for.
"Are you sure this will work?" Noah asked as he stared at the bunch of Demon Bunny corpses in front of him.
These corpses were obviously the Demon Bunnies they killed earlier.
Desther told Noah to collect them and dump them in one site far from their base.
This not only prevents the decomposing corpse from rotting away from their base, preventing the foul smell from assaulting them, but it could also attract other monsters, allowing fewer of them to check out their base.
"It’s going to work, trust me. It’s a hassle searching for monsters. We can use these corpses as bait to attract them. We can wait for a day or two, and some monsters will surely come to check the corpses out."
This was also part of the reason why he told Noah to dump them in one place.
Most of their time would be spent searching for monsters every time they go hunting. This was a problem that everyone faced unless they had a special tool, talent, or skills meant for scouting.
For others, hiring a specific scouting squad was also a good solution.
"But what if it attracts a lot of monsters that we could not handle?" Noah asked, clearly worried of something going wrong.
Although the idea sounds good, it also harbors a lot of risks and uncertainties.
"Don’t worry. Just do as I say, you’ll be fine!"
In the end, Noah could only put his trust in Desther regarding this matter.
Ever since earlier, his trust for Desther had already skyrocketed.
Not to mention his precise marksmanship and the way he handles the gun, he also saw firsthand just how ridiculously strong Desther was.
When the pair of boars attacked them, it was Desther who singlehandedly killed one of them in close range.
Although he still used the revolver to kill it, Noah saw how Desther held the boar’s head with one hand while the other pointed the gun close to its head.
No matter how ferocious the boar, it looked like a puppy in Desther’s hand as it struggled to break free, but to no avail.
A Devil Boar, known for its brute strength, could not even struggle in Desther’s hand before it was killed mercilessly.
And it was supposed to be him that awakened a strength-type talent.
Noah himself knew that he would not be able to do that, even if he reached Level 10.
Only after seeing that scene Noah truly believed that his top 50 was secured.
In fact, with 15 points, he was already at the 43rd spot as of this moment. All they needed to do was to maintain this spot, and he would be praised by his father and possibly get even more reward.
"Okay, I trust you, bro. But can this truly be eaten?" Noah inquired as he looked at the two dead Devil Boars now in his hands.
"Yes. Premium meat," Desther stated as he turned around to leave the dumping area.
"I heard that their meat is good too, but you know, eating such monsters that might have eaten a human before..." Noah did not continue, assuming that Desther already understood what he meant.
Hearing that, Desther could only shake his head.
"Well, in this world, you either eat or be eaten. Besides, it’s not that I am forcing you to eat a monster’s meat. If you haven’t tried it, and you don’t want to try it, then you don’t have to.
At first, humans actually did not try to consume monster meat.
Looking at how grotesque they were, the thought of them probably eating human flesh before just did not sit right with everyone.
If he had a choice before, Desther would have not dared to try eating monster meat before as well.
"Anyway, tonight’s dinner will be roasted Devil Boar, whether you like it or not."
Noah has his own supplies of food anyway. He bought a lot of cookware as well as a lot of easy-to-prepare foods.
Even if they were stuck here for a month, Noah would surely be the last one to die of hunger due to the amount of supply that he brought.
Arriving at their tree base, Desther circled the area first, and only after seeing that the trips and the traps were not triggered did they continue to go forward.
Desther put his revolver up in the tree house as well as their spoils.
Jumping down from the tree, he took the Devil Boar’s meat and began to prepare it for dinner.
He was not worried about the fire attracting monsters, as it would be better that way. If a monster approaches, he can just eliminate it.
Cooking monster meat was no different than cooking regular meat that can be bought in the market. The only difference was the temperature as well as cooking duration being longer since most monsters naturally have strong flesh.
Cook them long enough, though, and they would still tenderize the same.
