SSS Awakening: I Can Steal Attributes
Chapter 85: New Day, New Hunt
At that time, he did not even know what its name was. All he knew was that he was hungry, and the Devil Boar he just killed back then looked appetizing enough.
Recalling what he saw online, Desther began to smash the meat with enough force using his fist. It was said that doing this could actually help tenderize it even more.
While doing so, he also seasoned the meat with salt and pepper as well as other spices that he brought.
Spices in the wilderness should not be forgotten. It was Desther who prepared such essentials in advance.
Noah only brought the cookware as well as the instant foods. He did not bring any sort of condiments at all.
After he was done preparing, Desther lit up a fire, and once he felt the temperature was already enough, he put the Devil Boar’s meat at the top of the pan. Fortunately, the pan that Noah brought was big enough.
A whole slice of the Devil Boar’s meat began to sear. As the heat transferred to the meat, the aroma also wafted out and entered their noses.
Desther smiled in delight, he could not help but look forward to eating it.
Even Noah who was up in the tree house, could not help but gulp a mouthful of saliva the moment he smelled the meat’s aroma.
Some time later, Desther took a chunk of the meat and began eating.
Beside him, Noah was even more vigorous. Stuffing the whole slice into his mouth without any care. His lips shone with the meat’s grease while his eyes eyed the meat that was about to be cooked on the pan.
Desther could only shake his head after seeing that scene.
He had tasted premium pork steak before, but even he himself must admit that the Devil Boar’s meat had more flavor and was more aromatic compared to it.
The dinner was enjoyable, to say the least.
With his enhanced strength and body composition, Desther’s appetite and ability to eat had increased by a lot.
Noah has a much bigger build than him, but Desther actually ate thrice the amount of what Noah could handle.
By Noah’s words, it was simply absurd and ridiculous.
Noah was stuffed and returned to the tree house to rest.
It was an eventful day for him. Increasing his level and earning 15 points was not something he thought he would be able to do in the short term.
He began looking forward to what was to come tomorrow.
Having limited space, Desther decided to sleep on one of the thick branches.
Hired by Noah, he obviously does not want to do a sloppy job of ’protecting’ him.
Doing night guard duty was not new to him.
There was a time where he did not sleep for three days because he was guarding himself from monsters in the wild. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
That was such a fun and good time worth recalling.
As usual, Desther did not pass the time without doing anything. His phone was lit up as he read novels he already downloaded in advance.
Time will eventually pass, and so will boredom.
Noah woke up early in the morning and saw Desther looking above the horizon.
He noticed the beads of sweat rolling down his forehead. Noah assumed that he might have been working out.
"What’s the matter?" He asked.
"Warm up; we will be going full throttle today. You’re already out of the top 50," Desther stated without change of expression.
Hearing that, Noah immediately checked the rankings and, indeed, noticed that his ranking had been pushed down all the way to around the top 70.
From the looks of it, there were some students that hunted even during the night.
The first on the list was still that boy from Class D.
From what Desther could recall, that one seemed to have awakened a combat-oriented B-Grade Talent.
A talent specially made for combat would obviously see more results compared to others.
As for the class ranking, Class D was still the first on the list, while Class A was now in second.
It seemed his classmates were not idle during this period of time either.
He took a look at the names and noticed that Victor was already at 30 points. Lexie was following closely behind with 28 points in total. Some of their classmates also obtained points one after the other. And from the looks of it, only Desther was the one that remained without points.
He had already told Desther regarding this matter before. Afraid that it might seem odd that he did not earn any points, he told Desther that he should get a point or two from now and then to avoid any suspicion.
However, Desther did not think too much about it and told him not to worry.
Sharing points was allowed to begin with. No one would question him, even if he remained without points at the end of the activity.
Though, it would seem odd and out of place if it were only him with zero points. Doing it that way might make him stand out a lot, so he planned to gradually increase his points from now on as well.
The two immediately began their journey after they ate a simple breakfast.
They also secured the base in advance while Desther took some more bullets from their stash, refiling the ones he fired yesterday.
Even with his Magic Bullet skill, he still finds it more enjoyable and pleasing hearing the ’bang’ sound of the bullets leaving the revolver’s muzzle.
The two traveled further than yesterday before they were able to meet with their first Demon Bunny for the day.
Seeing the Demon Bunny, Desther did not immediately shoot it with his revolver as usual but instead turned to look at Noah.
"It won’t do you any good if I keep sheltering you like this. It’s better if you initiate the attack while I support you from behind. You’re supposed to be a strength-type Awakened Professional, it’s your job to go in front and confront the monsters head-on."
