Chapter 198: End of the Outerschool Mission

The blade strike ripped through the ball, dividing it into two smooth halves that fell to the side as White stepped through, his hands having raised back up in that fraction of a second.

Before the creature could reopen its maw,

CLEAAAAVE!

A second cleave followed as White cleaved down once more, and half a second after he did, the blade shifted to his left side and then,

CLEAAAAVE!

A third cleave, this time horizontal.

It created the mark of a straight vertical and horizontal line combined at their middle, soaring forward towards the creature.

It couldn’t move its hulking body out of the way fast enough, and the two attacks slammed into it, as blood mixed in with green liquids splashed out of its body, falling onto the ground, leading to a sizzling sound.

The sight of that made Zisel’s spine chill.

The creature’s blood was corrosive.

If she had rushed in and slashed, the blood would have splashed on her, and she would have been melted through.

White wasn’t near enough yet, easily avoiding the corrosive blood by simply not being in range.

But now, they were less than 3 meters away.

The creature all of a sudden jumped high into the sky, and White’s walk finally paused, staring up into the sky as the creature’s maw opened wide midair.

BLEEEEERGH!

What came was a downpour of corrosive acid balls, and this time it forced White to move.

Flashing to the side, he dodged the barrage along the walls, jumping high and appearing meters above the creature, who was being pulled down by gravity.

CLEAAAAAAAAAVE

A fourth slash tore downwards as White cleaved down for the first time midair.

It slammed into the creature’s head, sending it crashing into the ground, and White tore down with even more speed.

His body landed on the creature’s head, the blade dipping straight through the center of its head, before the force of the creature’s wriggling skin sent him flying back up, blood and corrosive liquid spraying after him, but none reached him as he spun, landing on a balcony.

He slashed the blade to the side, getting rid of the corrosive liquid, before turning to look at Zisel, who seemed to have seen a ghost.

The creature had been killed, and all it took was five slashes of the blade.

"Now then,"

White added, as she turned back to him, just to witness him fall to the side, over-imitating her exhaustion.

"Then you can breathe out in exhaustion."

He added, and she rolled her eyes.

He flashed in that moment, appearing before her and passing the blade to her.

"You can walk forward and slash as I did for the first three strikes, right?"

He asked, and she nodded.

All he had done in those first three strikes was simply walk forward and raise his hand, then slash down.

She could do that much.

"As for the jumping, you also did that for the Banshee, so you should be able to do that too."

He said, but she still showed hesitation in her eyes.

The hesitation of one who was simply too used to doing something in a particular way and now facing a dilemma in having to alter it.

"You have fast reaction speed, Zisel, but you shouldn’t spend it running around."

"Use it only at a critical moment when the chance appears, and you’ll not only finish fights faster, but even conserve more energy in the end."

"It’s not really changing your way of fighting. It’s just...less running around and more calm... elegant destruction, so to say."

He completed, passing her the blade.

It would be a lie to say she didn’t understand.

Running around always makes her look like the weaker one.

What he was describing was to change that, to be calmer and only move when absolutely necessary.

It wasn’t bad advice, though it did force her out of her comfort zone.

"There’s still a couple more Supernaturals. Wanna take them on?"

White said, one of his massive wings reaching out and slamming into a building, severing the top into two halves.

Tumbling out was another Supernatural creature, which turned its crimson eyes towards them both before rapidly crawling forward.

"Just be calm."

He whispered behind her as Zisel exhaled quietly.

She could hear the creature running forward, something that would have sent her senses into overdrive, preparing to run around, but she slowed down that instinct as she stepped forward, one step at a time, her blade slowly raising high up into the air.

"Ghost Phantom Slash."

CLEAAAVE

________

About 5 hours later...

CLAP!

CLAP!

CLAP!

The sound of clapping echoed through the unending alleyway.

There, standing in the midst of four corpses, was none other than Zisel, covered in the blood of Supernaturals.

She swiped her blade to the side, sending splashes of the blood flying off before turning to the side with a small smirk, watching White nod quietly.

"Not bad at all. I mean, not as calm as I was, but still... manageable?"

He said, and she couldn’t hold back the laughter.

BEEEP!

There was a beeping from her watch, and the sight of it made her eyes flash.

"I’ve broken through to the Top 100 ranking."

She mused, exhaling.

There were a total of 310 on the rankings. Top 100 was beyond good and should no doubt guarantee her being chosen for the next Outerschool mission.

Safe to say, she had completed her original goal.

"You should take a break now."

White said, getting down to the ground, and in that moment,

BEEP!

BEEP!

BEEP!

Three beeps echoed out from both his and her watches as they both turned to them.

There was a notification that made White’s eyes gleam, before Zisel whispered,

"It’s over."

Xtremcbyer’s jet had come back to get them out, signifying the end of the Outerschool event.

White’s eyes looked into the distance where he could see the jet in the clouds, slowly lowering itself down to the ground.

"Come on. Let’s go."

Zisel said excitedly, grabbing his arm and pulling as both rushed into the distance together."
