Head Harold said, "I donāt know how you have done it, but donāt tell anyone about it. I donāt want to pry into your secrets either."
Hearing that, Jeremy Night sighed in relief. He was worried that the Head might ask for details.
It was not that he didnāt want to share; he simply thought it was best for the matter not to be known by a second person.
"Thank you, Head," Jeremy replied.
"I think itās the work of Robert Hill. Otherwise, why would a Tier-6 Beast Tamer target you?" Harold said.
Jeremy nodded to him.
Head Harold then thought of something. He summoned Elder Stephen, the one who heads the Department of Intelligence Gathering.
Shortly afterward, Elder Stephen arrived at the office. Head Harold looked at the elder and nodded to him. Jeremy Night greeted him as well.
"Elder Stephen, whatās going on with the Hill Beast Taming Family these days?" Harold asked.
Jeremy perked up his ears to listen.
Stephen said, "The heir of the Hill Family, Tyson Hill, has been missing since the Tier-9 Sky Crocodile attack. It is believed that he was killed by a lightning strike."
Hearing that, Harold and Jeremy Night exchanged looks. Harold asked a couple more questions, and then Stephen left the room.
"So I was right. It must be the work of Robert Hill. He has lost his mind. His sonās death has taken a toll on him," Harold said. He then looked into Jeremy Nightās eyes.
"Jeremy Night, you must be careful. Robert Hill is disregarding the rules. He could attack you next time. His sonās death is making him go crazy," Harold said in a serious tone.
Jeremy was stunned. He knew the seriousness of the matter. An unknown sense of crisis gripped his heart.
He had somehow killed the Tier-6 Beast Tamer, Roland, but Robert Hill was different.
He was a Tier-8 Beast Tamer. Jeremy didnāt know what to do; he then started worrying about his family.
"Head, my family might face attacks as well," he said.
A quick gleam appeared in Haroldās eyes.
"Donāt worry, I will speak to Neil. He will add an extra layer of protection to your family," Harold said. "Then I will tell Stephen to monitor the Hill Family. If anyone makes a move, we will know immediately."
Only then did Jeremy relax.
A few minutes later, Jeremy Night left the office and headed back to his own room. After returning, he began to rest, though the threat of the Hill Family weighed heavily on his mind.
He was sure that Robert Hill wouldnāt let him go. Robert Hill had already hired the Darkshade organization to kill him. It was already a miracle that he had survived three times.
Now that someone had tried to kill him right in the city, he didnāt feel safe at all. Despite Haroldās words, he decided to do something about his own safety.
...
Hill Family
Robert Hill was in his room, waiting for Roland Hillās call. Robert walked back and forth, feeling slightly nervous.
He was worried that the Head of the Red Moon Chamber might seek revenge, but he was prepared for that. He had lost his son, yet his sonās enemy was still alive.
It didnāt sit well with him. That was why he wanted his sonās enemy dead.
Time passed. Nightfall came, yet there was no sign of Roland Hill returning.
Robert Hill tried to call him many times, but none of his calls were answered. Robert began to think something was wrong.
He had given Roland the task of killing that kid, Jeremy Night, within the city. There was no need to enter the wilderness.
He had even been making backup plans in case the Governors were alerted. But he received no news at all. He decided to wait until the next morning.
...
A couple of days passed by. Robert Hill lost his patience. He suspected something had happened to Roland Hill. He then remembered that Roland had a tracking device on him.
He could use the device to locate him, but for that, he needed permission from the Governors.
On the other hand, the Governors had stopped monitoring the border. Martin hadnāt found anything concrete.
He had failed to find the beast responsible for the killings and could only return, though he continued monitoring for a few days before stopping.
Governors Orion and Leon relaxed. They were glad that Martinās assumption had turned out to be wrong. They resumed their administrative work, trying to forget about the Beast Tide.
Post-noon, Robert Hill came to the City Administration Office seeking an appointment with the Governors.
The Governors were surprised; they didnāt know why he had come to see them.
"I heard his son died," Orion said.
"He was one of the victims of the lightning strike," Leon added.
Martin listened to them and then told the official to let Robert enter. Robert Hill walked into the office, saw the Governors, and greeted them. Martin told him to sit.
Robert sat opposite them and made his request. He claimed he wanted to find Roland Hill, who seemed to be missing.
The Governors were taken aback. Roland Hill was a well-known, capable Tier-6 Beast Tamer who had contributed during the Beast Tide.
The Governors didnāt make a decision right away; they wanted to understand the circumstances.
If a Tier-6 Beast Tamer was missing, he might have entered the wilderness and been targeted by corrupted beasts.
Robert Hill hid the true nature of Rolandās mission from them. He told himself that Roland might have simply entered the wilderness.
Martin then said, "We will locate the device first. It will tell us his whereabouts."
Martin looked towards Robert Hill with a doubtful gaze. He is not going to completely trust this person.
Orion and Leon agreed with Martinās words. They too donāt believe Robert Hill. Robert Hill is an opportunistic person.
Robert Hill saw their reaction. He didnāt show any mixed response. He kept his face straight.
