Strongest Nova: Path of Vengeance
Chapter 258: Final 6
Fred’s power was quite easy to use.
He had automatic targeting. As for who the target was, he could change it at will, with no downtime. That made whatever moved from his palm or from what his palm touched, was always going toward the thing that was his target.
However, he too had his own rules his power that he had to follow.
To use his power, he had to alternate between which palm he moved things through. Even with guns, he had to alternate between which guns he shot with.
If he shot with his left, the next bullet must come out of the right. If it didn’t, he would lose his powers for nearly a day at a time. So, he was always careful to remember which hand it was that he used it with.
By now, it had been an instinct for him. Even without consciously thinking, he knew which one it was that he had to use.
He was trying to look out to see what the round buzzing noise was only to see Stanley kill Ogre. He looked at the scene just once in awe, looking at the bloodied everyone.
Then, he turned to look at one more person and went back into hiding. He quickly changed the magazine of his gun and started shooting them again, a target already in his mind.
After Ogre died, Stanley quickly got his sword and fought the remaining 6 members of the clan while they desperately tried to protect themselves.
It became quickly apparent to Stanley that two of the people there were Dulls. They had no power, and could thus only use their guns to fight. They had not expected anything else, so they hadn’t brought their other weapons if they had any.
One of them died to Stanley’s onslaught, and another to Fred’s relentless gunshots to the same place.
Of the remaining four, one of them had the power to make a green fire that could burn a lot hotter than a normal fire. Stanley went for him next, leaving one of the other three for Fred to deal with.
Stanley dodged around the fire, knowing its danger now. He rushed behind the man’s back, waiting in slowed time for the shield to give way. When it did, he dug his sword deep into the man’s back.
The sword pierced his chest and then the small device that was creating the shield. The moment the shield went down, killing the man was easy.
Stanley saw a spray of water in the future, splashing across his back, some making it through to his back. He quickly dodged and turned around to the man who had used it.
The man could create water that could burn one’s flesh if it landed on them. For Stanley, however, it didn’t do much and only gave him slight pain, all thanks to his incredible physiological advantage as a Time Nova.
The man was occupied in part by Fred as well. He was constantly being shot at, and he couldn’t even attack him with Stanley in front of him. He tried to fight, but Stanley managed to sneak behind him and punched him once.
His heart pieced through the man’s chest, exploding the meaty bits of his ribcage out of the front. As the shield allowed anything to leave, the chunks flew across the parking lot.
The last two had skills that Stanley didn’t immediately understand.
One of the men was targeted by Fred, so Stanley went for the other one.
The man was trying to make it to a car, trying to fly away in it. But a single throw from Stanley’s sword destroyed the car, making the man toss out of it like a ragdoll.
Stanley wondered if this man had no powers at all at first. That was a genuine possibility. However, when the man died, his powers were finally revealed.
When Stanley killed the man by cleaving him in two, the man turned into an older woman with far less muscle and height.
The sudden change had taken Stanley aback and was quite disturbing overall.
Stanley shook himself out of the shock and turned around to the last one. "Fred, stop!" he shouted, and the gunfire paused. Fred walked out, curious.
Stanley looked at the man. "We will let you live if you can tell us how to shut the bomb down," he said.
The man was no older than Fred, but he looked sickly and had a lot of wounds, new and old.
"If you fight back, you won’t live. Make your choice wisely," Stanley said.
The man grinned a little. "You want my help, do you?" he asked, staring directly into Stanley’s eyes.
Stanley nodded. "Yes, just a—" his words paused as something changed around him suddenly. The sound seemed to drown, the light blurry. He was feeling fear, quite a lot of it.
And none of it was his.
"Shit!" Stanley thought to himself. He had fallen for the man’s trap. What did he do? Look into his eyes. Answer his question. He didn’t know. Whatever it was, he had done it and the man was using his power now.
Stanley could still control himself, so he quickly took his sword and went to attack the man. However, the man acted as well, as the sword was stopped by the shield.
The man took a knife to his right arm, twisting it around, grunting in pain. At the same time, Stanley felt the most violent pain in his arm, making him think his arm was chopped out entirely.
The sword dropped to the floor, and he did too. He wondered if his arm was gone. but, it was still there, and he could still move it. Only the pain was there, and it was terrible.
Stanley felt another horrible pain in the chest, and then it was gone. Fred ended up gunning the man down in fear that he had done something to Stanley.
"Are you okay?" Fred quickly walked upto Stanley.
Stanley slowly rose and nodded. The vanished pain left a weird hollow feeling in his chest. "I’m fine," he said. "What do we do with the bomb?"
