Chapter 1046 - 1045: Bitter Struggle
The current instructor is just like this. As the leader of the team this time, he has a certain degree of understanding of the opponent. He knows that if he doesn’t quickly get his team out, they might all be accounted for here today. So he continuously issued orders, commanding his subordinates to retreat quickly.
Under his arrangements, the first batch of team members retreated. Yanran was unwilling at heart; she did not want to let the enemy leave so comfortably. But the remaining enemies fiercely resisted, and for the moment, she had no better way to stop their retreat.
When the captain ordered the second batch of team members to retreat, everyone understood that their captain wanted to sacrifice himself to save the others. But the more he did so, the less they wanted to abandon him. How could they leave him in such a situation?
The captain held two daggers, full of fierce determination on his face, his eyes filled with stubbornness, attacking Ruoran desperately. As for the steel claws thrust towards him by Yanran, he only slightly blocked them. This attack-only-without-defense approach quickly put him in a passive, pounded position. His ability was already a notch inferior, and now, attacking in this manner under physical strain was akin to courting death.
If he adopted a strict defensive posture, Yanran might not be able to do anything to him for a while.
But if he was like that, he wouldn’t be able to stop Yanran’s offensive, let alone protect the others.
"Quickly retreat!" These were the last two words the captain squeezed out under Yanran’s attack, gritting his teeth, as if these words were forced out of his mouth.
He dared not open his mouth because he feared that if he did, he would lose the breath holding him up. His subordinates gave him one last glance, with tears in their eyes, quickly retreating.
Yanran did not spare them because of the captain’s heroism; she vividly remembered how he tried to put her to death.
The steel claws emitted a screeching sound. Although the captain tried his utmost to block, he was not as skilled. Out of Yanran’s ten moves against him, he could only block four; the unblocked attacks quickly carved deep and shallow wounds on his body. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
The captain was bloodied all over, each attack bringing a rain of flying blood. Quickly, his movements slowed, his mouth opened wide, gasping heavily, his body moving slower. Finally, after Yanran’s heavy blow, he fell to the ground.
His throat opened into a gaping hole, blood gushing out in torrents. The captain’s head slowly tilted backward, then dropped, dead.
Yanran cast a cold gaze at his corpse, wiped the blood stains from herself, and took no further glance at the heap of corpses. She turned to Ba Lvluo, "How are you now? Can you walk on your own?"
Inwardly shocked by Yanran’s ruthless slaughter, Ba Lv hadn’t expected it. Her good friend, who usually appeared gentle and quiet, turned so merciless when taking action. She felt she must ask her teacher about this issue; maybe he would know something.
"Let’s go," Yanran urged her. "Can you still walk?"
"Yes, I’m fine, really fine," Ba Lv seemed to wake from a dream, moving her joints a bit, "I’m much better, no problem now."
"You’d better be careful!" Yanran warned her, "The enemy won’t just let us go so easily; we must be careful."
"I know!" Ba Lvxi confirmed looking at the ground, "Isn’t it too quiet now? Maybe the main enemy force is waiting outside the team’s gate so they can fire at us the moment we step out?"
"Oh, headless!" Guo Ran seized the chance to hit her, "Your little brain only knows how to eat." Yanran laughed at Ba Lv, "The enemy won’t act like last time. They’ve learned their lesson."
"Except for some close-quarters battle with us, they absolutely will not deploy squads to fight like they did last time."
"I know, I know. They’re afraid of making the uproar too big, with planes and tanks alarming our teacher, right?" Lv asked Yanran.
Guo Ran nodded, "Let’s go and see what’s really going on outside instead of guessing blindly here." She urged Ba Lv, "Pick up a couple of daggers from the ground as weapons; although unfamiliar, they’re better than nothing."
"Alright." Following Yanran’s suggestion, Ba Lv picked up the daggers from the pool of blood, "Okay, let’s go."
The two of them carefully, slowly felt their way out of the room, but outside was not as they imagined, with a large group waiting to block them and fight to the death.
The outside was silent, not a single person around.
Yanran and Ba Lvluo exchanged glances, seeing a hint of astonishment in each other’s eyes.
This was too abnormal.
The group had put so much effort and stirred up such a movement, wanting to capture them, could it be that simply because they defeated those instructors, the enemy gave up attacking? Despite how strange the situation was, the fact remained: in this not-so-big team, it was eerily quiet, and empty—not only was there no one around, but not even a hint of movement.
Yanran and Ba Lv walked further, astonished. The team’s gate was right before them; if they hurried a few steps, they’d reach the gate.
Though they had prepared for the worst, ready to face another fierce battle upon rushing out the team gate, no one appeared. Naturally, there wasn’t any movement.
The team’s gate was right ahead; they could even see several pedestrians leisurely walking and chatting nearby outside the gate, and a few women with their children in a snack shop there.
If they weren’t still within the team, they’d almost have considered their previous encounter a dream.
Ba Lv waved the daggers in her hand. Although she wiped the blood clean from them, blood residues lingered in the blood grooves, seemingly proof of their recent experience.
Yanran defeated the offensive launched by the Delmar Planet team instructors and killed their captain.
Now, they were on the brink of leaving this team, but before them, there were no longer any enemies; the entire team was eerily silent, devoid of any figure.
This phenomenon was incredibly bizarre. Yanran and Ba Lv, however much they thought, did not foresee confronting such a situation.
In their imagination, they should be facing a swarm of enemies; although these enemies lacked advanced weaponry, without deploying spaceships and tanks, they would still wield various arms to prevent them from leaving this team.
They had prepared to confront numerous enemies, with Ba Lv even picking up two daggers from the enemy corpses, ready to engage in bloody combat.
A few more steps, and the team’s gate was right ahead; they were about to leave this team.
Still, no movement.
