Super Soldier King and Cute CEO
Chapter 2016 - 2012: Demon Beast Cage
In that instant, Tang Zhong somewhat understood.
Right now, dragon aura was spilling out from the bodies of many creatures, which meant these creatures had come into contact with a Dragon, so they’d become tainted with dragon aura.
Sure enough, this circus was connected to Dragons; he just didn’t know in what way.
He had to find the answer from within this circus.
And he couldn’t startle the snake; if they startled the snake, they might lose the trail again.
Tang Zhong hadn’t expected this circus to be set up with private booths, not much different from the bars back on Earth.
Tang Zhong took Ling Xing and found a private booth to sit down in.
Very soon, a circus staffer came out holding a menu and walked up to Tang Zhong: "Sir, what would you like to drink? We’ve got premium longevity python blood, and rhino bone soup..."
Looking at this menu, Tang Zhong really didn’t have any appetite at all.
"Do you have water?" Tang Zhong looked up at the circus staffer and asked.
As soon as the man heard "water," his face instantly turned cold, and he turned around and left.
That kind of service attitude honestly impressed Tang Zhong.
Tang Zhong couldn’t be bothered to say more; he’d come here to look for a Dragon, why bother getting worked up over someone like that.
Ling Xing kept sensing the surroundings as she muttered under her breath, "Why can’t we just use these faint traces of aura to track down that Dragon?"
"Don’t rush it. This isn’t something you can do in a day; it’ll take time. Alright, you’ve barely had a proper rest since you made it out alive. For now, just rest a bit," Tang Zhong said.
"No... I want to keep going," Ling Xing said, then went right back to sensing; she was determined to find that Dragon’s whereabouts.
Seeing this, Tang Zhong couldn’t be bothered to say anything more to her.
For now, they could only move on to the next phase of this circus show.
This kind of circus should be like those night venues on Earth—after midnight, all kinds of enticing things would start appearing.
At this time, he saw that the circus had stopped letting new people in.
Then, the pole dancers onstage also stopped and no longer danced.
A clown-like man appeared onstage as the host.
He was just talking about the upcoming event.
Then the clown left the stage, indicating that the performance was about to begin.
All kinds of Demon Beasts were led onto the stage.
The audience below didn’t react at all; they all sat up straight, as if there was nothing on the stage.
Clearly, none of them were interested in this.
Those Demon Beasts were just paraded around the stage once, then led back down.
Very soon.
The lighting over the whole stage changed, turning into that kind of pink light.
This time it wasn’t the clown who came up, but a woman who walked onstage, wearing only a few leaves on her body.
The audience below immediately erupted into cheers, much louder than before. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Tang Zhong watched as well, simply because he had nothing else to do.
Just then, Ling Xing said, "Those Demon Beasts just now had dragon aura on them."
"You sure?" Tang Zhong confirmed.
"I’m sure, it’s here. Let’s hurry and look for it." Ling Xing stood up, about to leave.
"Don’t be so rash, wait," Tang Zhong said.
There were definitely people watching inside this circus. If he and Ling Xing acted too recklessly right now, they might get captured by the circus people before they could do anything—that would be bad, and it would count as startling the snake.
Tang Zhong forcibly pressed Ling Xing back into her seat, then carefully observed the circus staff around them; several were pacing back and forth at this time.
Catching a chance, Tang Zhong grabbed Ling Xing’s hand and said, "Go."
In an instant, the speed beneath their feet surged; like the wind, they reached an unoccupied area of the circus.
This should be the backstage.
Only then did Tang Zhong let go of Ling Xing’s hand and say, "Alright, we can move now. Stay behind me and don’t lose me, got it?"
Ling Xing nodded. "Okay."
Hearing that "okay," Tang Zhong was slightly stunned. Since when had Ling Xing become so obedient? The reason it felt strange was because the Ling Xing he’d always dealt with was that kind of berserk mother Dragon.
This indirectly showed just how badly Ling Xing wanted to find that Dragon and return to the Dragon Realm.
Tang Zhong also wanted to find the others and return to the Dragon Realm. He now had the body of a Golden Dragon, so he could be considered someone of the Dragon Realm. That sense of belonging to the Dragon Realm existed in him as well, and it was very strong; to be blunt, compared to Ling Xing, Tang Zhong wanted to return to the Dragon Realm even more.
"You stay behind me and keep sensing. I’ll lead the way in front; wherever there’s dragon aura, you tell me," Tang Zhong said.
Ling Xing began sensing. Her beautiful face became covered with Long Lin, and on top of that, dense blood vessels could be seen. Normal blood vessels were red, but the ones exposed on Ling Xing now were golden.
After sensing for a while, Ling Xing pointed forward.
"Up ahead."
Tang Zhong immediately quickened his pace.
He hadn’t expected this circus to be a permanent setup; the passageway below wound and twisted, and the two of them arrived outside a room.
They saw someone actually standing guard at the door.
Tang Zhong immediately stopped Ling Xing, and the two pressed themselves against the wall.
There was a stench here, probably Demon Beast droppings; barring any surprises, this should be where the Demon Beasts were kept.
"The dragon aura is right here," Ling Xing said.
"Alright, I know. Come with me," Tang Zhong said.
If he wanted to figure out the dragon aura, he had to start with these Demon Beasts.
Tang Zhong made his move at once. His pupils flashed with Jin Guang as he entered his Human-Dragon State, his combat power skyrocketing; in an instant he appeared before the guard.
The guard had been all loose and careless—after all, almost no one ever dared break into their circus. Seeing Tang Zhong now, he barked, "You—"
But before he could finish, Tang Zhong threw a punch.
The guard was blasted to the ground, his face caved in.
Tang Zhong crouched down, took the key from him, and opened the door.
Ling Xing stepped out, following Tang Zhong inside.
Once they went in, there was a staircase leading down right at the front.
Bestial roars kept echoing up from within; clearly, this was where the Demon Beasts were imprisoned.
Ling Xing shouted, "Move faster."
Then, with incredible speed, she rushed downward.
Tang Zhong honestly had no words for this big-chested, brainless mother Dragon. This was someone else’s territory—what if there were traps? Charging around like this, how was that any different from seeking death?
Luckily, there were no traps ahead, and the two of them made it in safely. Unsurprisingly, the circus people probably thought it was impossible for anyone to break in.
Below was a huge prison block; all kinds of Demon Beasts were locked up in cages. Clearly mighty Demon Beasts now looked like pets. When they saw someone coming down, they all turned their heads to look at Tang Zhong and Ling Xing.
Seeing these Demon Beasts, Ling Xing immediately said, "Yes, the dragon aura is coming off these Demon Beasts."
