Surviving the Apocalypse While Being Tempted by an Elf and a Dark Elf
Chapter 398: Darkness within (4)
Luke fired a blast of dark energy with one hand, and with the other, he fired a blast of pure mana. Before colliding against the enemy’s attack. Those two sources of energy aligned together, and when the impact happened, a massive explosion took place that made the whole dimension tremble. Luke also felt his entire body trembling because of those two sources of energy.
Luke used a lot of dark energy, so his mind cleared a bit before the explosion could engulf him. He jumped from a platform downward with all his might since he knew he would die if he got caught.

"I recovered a huge chunk of my power, but... what the hell..." Luke muttered while he was moving away.
When he tried to check his status, Luke found a darker screen on the side mirroring the original one. It had the same numbers as the real one, but they were showing while they were upside down. It was quite creepy.
"Yin and yang through and through, huh..." Luke said when he stopped moving and looked behind. "While I can’t use dark energy in many ways, I can use both of them to amplify their powers. I wonder why I didn’t think of that before considering that the origin of both was basically the same."
Regardless, the purple sphere stopped moving and watched the outcome of the attack while Luke absorbed some more dark energy. Using the energy was quite unexpected. Not even Aivern had used that before, so the purple sphere couldn’t help but show some surprise in its eyes. Perhaps Luke was more troublesome than the previous challengers.
Usually, a person would have an aptitude toward magic or toward physical strength. Finding someone who was good at both was extremely rare, and finding someone who could reach the apex in both fields was nearly impossible, and yet, the purple sphere couldn’t help but think that Luke could be that person. He could learn and control several forms of energy quite fast, and he didn’t hesitate when it came to fighting at all distances.
The purple sphere never considered anyone to be a worthy opponent, that creature was only worried about gathering enough energy to achieve its goal, but for the first time, the creature considered the possibility that a single being could stop itself. The purple sphere couldn’t allow that to happen. That monster had to wait for many years due to the intervention of the will of the world... But it couldn’t let a single human stop its plans.
Suddenly, Luke began to sweat cold uncontrollably when he felt the Aura of the purple sphere changing. He almost could tell that the enemy had finally made up its mind to kill him. Luke also began to feel the dimension shrinking, but it was just the dark energy moving toward the enemy and being absorbed. Luke tried to do the same and use the energy at the same time, but he felt like he was an ant trying to drink all the water of an ocean, and he was in a race against an elephant. That probably wasn’t one of the best of his analogies, but it was what he had the chance to come up with in that situation.
Luke hurried to fly toward the monster and stop it from gathering all the energy of the dimension, but he couldn’t even get close. The siphon of energy reacted to his approach and then attacked him with a beam of dark energy, on the same level that the monster tried before.
The same thing happened several times, but in the end, it didn’t take for the monster to stop. Weirdly enough, after gathering all that energy, the monster only assumed a humanoid form. It wasn’t much bigger than Luke, but he could feel a lot of power coming from it, enough to make him think twice before charging toward the enemy. Regardless, when the enemy finally finished its metamorphosis, one big eye appeared in the middle of that humanoid body, and that eye didn’t show anything aside from contempt for Luke.
"Is this truly the necessary form?" The purple shadow asked while looking at its new body. "I find it unsatisfactory that taking the shape of those despicable creatures is truly the best way to show my powers."
It seemed that the shadow had never assumed that form. Luke realized that Aivern probably never reached that far. In any case, that only means that the enemy will take Luke a bit more seriously. Considering that the monster wanted to destroy the whole universe, that thing would probably use all the energy of that dimension and, in the end, purify it.
"You know... you really are interested in this suicide mission?" Luke asked. "If you plan to use all the energy here, then the only thing that created you will disappear, and so will you."
"That doesn’t matter, I have lived here for far too long and I can exist only here," The purple shadow said. "I only lived until now to fulfill my purpose and to cleanse from existence creatures like you who are unable to accept how things and how you were when you came to existence. Once I clean this place and I make sure that it won’t ever be defiled by foul creatures like you, I will disappear, but I will be satisfied."
Luke almost let out a sigh. There wasn’t anything worse than an enemy that was willing to die to accomplish their mission. They didn’t have anything to lose. In fact, they felt that their sacrifice was a small price to pay to achieve something great. Still, a tough battle was something that Luke was expecting for his final one...
