Charlotte Morgan hesitated for a moment. "Then... is now okay?"

"Now?"

Kevin Everett was genuinely surprised this time.

’Is she in that much of a hurry?’

Charlotte Morgan looked at Kevin Everett with pleading eyes. "Can’t I?"

She simply felt that awakening a Superpower was very dangerous. With both Jayce and Sierra Sullivan present, she wanted to do it now.

But... she didn’t dare voice this selfish thought.

However, they were all intelligent people. Even though Charlotte Morgan hadn’t said it outright, everyone had already guessed her reasoning.

Kevin Everett had figured it out, but instead of agreeing immediately, he looked over at Jayce and Sierra Sullivan.

The final decision really depended on whether those two were willing.

If they didn’t agree, they would just have to find another time and have a different Superpower User stand guard for Charlotte Morgan.

Jayce didn’t answer, looking instead to Sierra Sullivan.

"Sierra, what do you think?"

Sierra Sullivan nodded. "Sure, that’s fine!"

There was no life-or-death feud between her and Charlotte Morgan.

While they had clashed in the past, it wasn’t a major issue.

When it came to matters of principle like this, Sierra Sullivan knew how to prioritize.

Jayce nodded. "Since Sierra has agreed, then it’s fine!"

Charlotte Morgan looked over at Sierra Sullivan, her eyes filled with astonishment.

She truly hadn’t expected that Sierra Sullivan would be the first one to agree at a time like this. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

Charlotte Morgan’s expression was complex, and her emotions were even more so.

However, she only gave Sierra Sullivan a deep look and said nothing.

As someone who had already awakened a Superpower, Sierra Sullivan was familiar with this kind of scene.

Seeing Charlotte Morgan pop a Crystal Core into her mouth, Sierra Sullivan still felt a flash of tension.

But it was only for an instant.

’You choose your own path.’

’Since Charlotte Morgan has chosen to awaken a Superpower, she just has to grit her teeth and get through it!’

After consuming the Crystal Core, Charlotte Morgan quickly fainted. The pain sent her rolling on the floor, her expression a mask of agony.

Seeing Charlotte in this state, Yvonne Shelby was filled with worry. At the same time, she gave Kevin Everett an incredibly complex look.

Kevin Everett had been thinking about awakening a Superpower himself just a short while ago.

Seeing this, she became even more certain that not letting Kevin Everett do so had been the right decision.

’Kevin Everett is getting on in years. What if he couldn’t handle it?’

They had been married for so many years; they understood each other perfectly.

Even though Yvonne Shelby said nothing, Kevin Everett understood what she was trying to convey with just a single look.

Kevin Everett felt a surge of relief himself.

But along with the relief, he couldn’t help but feel a bit wistful.

’It seems a Superpower just isn’t in the cards for me in this lifetime!’

Candice Tate had never seen a Superpower awakening before either.

Now, seeing Charlotte Morgan’s agonizing state, her small face tensed with fear, and she subconsciously tugged on Sierra Sullivan’s clothes.

Sierra Sullivan patted Candice Tate’s head and said to Yvonne Shelby, "Aunt Shelby, why don’t you take Candice back to her room?"

Yvonne Shelby immediately understood and nodded. "Okay!"

Candice Tate must have been truly frightened. She didn’t object at all when Yvonne Shelby offered to take her back to the room and simply followed her out.

Watching them go into the room, Sierra Sullivan felt a pang of regret.

’I should have had Aunt Shelby take Candice to the room earlier!’

’Awakening a Superpower can fail!’

’How could I let Candice see a scene like this!’

’What’s done is done, but something like this can never happen again!’

As Sierra Sullivan was mentally scolding herself, she saw Charlotte Morgan begin to convulse on the floor.

Charlotte Morgan’s complexion had already been terrible, but now it was far worse.

Her face first turned a deathly blue.

But soon, the blue faded to an ashen gray.

She was taking in less air than she was letting out; she was on the verge of death.

Seeing this, Sierra Sullivan shook off her thoughts and rushed over to Charlotte Morgan.

Jayce dashed forward at almost the same instant.

They reached Charlotte Morgan’s side in a flash.

"Charlotte Morgan! How are you?"

Sierra Sullivan’s anxious question was met with silence.

"She probably can’t hear you if you talk to her now," Jayce said.

Sierra Sullivan realized this as well.

"Then what should we do?"

Jayce shook his head. "I don’t know what to do either... I’ll try... to absorb some of the Crystal Core’s energy from her body..."

Jayce could only say he’d give it a try.

After all, he’d never done anything like this before.

Saying he’d try now was just a desperate measure.

If he didn’t do it, they would have no choice but to watch Charlotte Morgan die.

Sierra Sullivan didn’t know what she could do, so she could only watch Jayce nervously.

Compared to Charlotte Morgan, Sierra Sullivan was, of course, much more worried about something happening to Jayce.

She knew how to get her priorities straight.

But she couldn’t bring herself to tell Jayce not to help.

All she could do now was keep a close eye on Jayce to make sure nothing happened to him, too.

Thankfully, her worst fears were not realized.

Jayce actually managed to siphon away half of the Crystal Core’s power from within Charlotte Morgan’s body.

And that was with him deliberately holding back.

Otherwise, he could have easily absorbed all of that meager energy.

Seeing Jayce slowly open his eyes, Sierra Sullivan rushed to ask, "How did it go? Are you okay? Is she going to be okay?"

Jayce flashed a brilliant smile at Sierra. "I’m perfectly fine, aren’t I? Don’t you trust my skills, Sierra? As for her... her life is definitely saved. But I can’t be sure whether or not she actually awakened a Superpower."

Kevin Everett’s brow was furrowed. "The fact that she’s alive is good enough. As for the rest... we’ll have to leave it to fate."

At this point, Kevin Everett had completely abandoned any thought of awakening a Superpower himself.

Charlotte Morgan was young and healthy, yet awakening a Superpower was this dangerous, and they didn’t even know if it was successful.

’If it were me, I probably wouldn’t have lasted a minute.’

Once he came to this realization, Kevin Everett felt a wave of relief wash over him.

The three of them waited a while longer before Charlotte Morgan finally, slowly, opened her eyes.

Her eyes were bloodshot.

Though her eyes were open, they were unfocused; she clearly hadn’t fully come to yet.

Sierra Sullivan and Jayce didn’t disturb her, simply standing up together.

Just as the two were about to walk back toward the sofa, Charlotte Morgan suddenly looked at them.

"Thank you."

After all the screaming, Charlotte Morgan’s voice was extremely hoarse.

"Thank you for saving me!"

Charlotte Morgan was not an ungrateful person.

Only after a trip to death’s door does one fully understand how good it is to be alive.

She was only alive now entirely because of Sierra Sullivan and Jayce.

She was not the type to be ungrateful.

Seeing Jayce wasn’t speaking, Sierra Sullivan could only speak up herself. "Are you... okay? How do you feel now?"

"I... I’m okay. I think I’ve awakened a Superpower."

"Really?" Sierra Sullivan was surprised, but a moment later, she broke into a smile. "Congratulations, then!"
