The Assassin's Redemption: A Princess's Journey to Forgiveness
Chapter 167: Jealous!
"I’m sure he’ll come soon Your Highness. Please enjoy your breakfast," the maid consoled a worried Isadora. She smiled at the maid wryly before she took the steaming cup of tea. It was already late in the morning and he had not come back yet. Was she worried? That, even she didn’t know. She just wanted to confirm that he was alright. The sweet smell of the cinnamon tea invaded her senses reminding her of his scent. Curiosity drove her to take a sip. Oh God! The tea was heavenly sweet. Did he take like that as well? A blush crept her cheeks at the thought. "What is my naughty wife thinking about?" She shot her eyes open, startled by his sudden appearance. But that only acted to activate the blushing machine she once was. He raised a brow at her taking a seat opposite hers in the garden that he was now facing her. "Nothing," she lied, her gaze darting everywhere else but him. Alexander just smirked, relief washing over him internally. He had thought he’d find her angry, maybe leaving but this! What had made her change her mind? "About yesterday..." They said simultaneously before their gazes met. Isadora couldn’t deny the spellbinding force in his blue eyes. Looking at him now ignited a mixture of feelings within her. "You go first," he said, smiling at her. That smile of his would drive any woman crazy. He looked so innocent when smiling that one couldn’t tell this was the assassin prince. "Um... I wanted to ask..." She began avoiding his face all the while. "Ask," he coerced the words out of her. He could already predict what she was up to."Your eyes... do they always turn red when you become intimate with a woman."Alexander felt like laughing but he appreciated the fact that she was being honest with him. "No," he curtly replied. Seeing the questioning look on her face, he added, "It only happened yesterday."Isadora wanted to say something but ended mute. But why could it be only her? Did that mean he had Mistresses? As if he had read her mind, he said, "I usually spend time with my Mistresses but it never happened to awaken my beast.""Beast?" She asked with furrowed brows."Yes. It’s like the devil inside me." He searched for her face and wait! She was concerned! He could tell from the look on her angelic face. "And that beast, is it the same thing that makes you go Savage during wars?" She asked, now lifting her face to meet with his blue eyes. Their gazes held for the briefest of moments but that was enough to ignite butterflies in her stomach. A blush crept her face flushing her cheeks pink before she stared at her tea."Yes," Alexander replied, a smirk escaping his lips. Did he affect her that much? That aside, he had already told her more than enough about himself. He could only hope she’d understand him and take him as he was."I see." She took a sip of her tea trying hard not to think of the cinnamon taste. But the scent was even stronger now that he was present. Shutting her mind on that disturbing yet sensual thought, she tried to focus on something else. The garden! She even hadn’t the luxury to enjoy the serene atmosphere here all thanks to him. She had been worried sick about him but now that he was back looking all fine, her worry disappeared. "It’s beautiful in here, isn’t it?" She asked, her curious eyes surveying her surroundings. Different types of flowers adorned the garden its beauty coupled with the fresh scent. The sound of chirping birds and insects brought a warm feeling to her being. Since she was young, she was always a lover of nature and Valoria had just made this garden to her taste."Yes. But not as beautiful as you," Alexander said catching her attention. Their gazes locked but as shy as she was, she looked down, blushing! He had even lost count of how many times she had blushed since he arrived. "Won’t you ask me where I went yesterday?" He asked. A maid came in holding a tray before she poured tea for him as well, blushing all the while. That didn’t go unnoticed by Isadora and for some odd reason, she felt a tight knot form in her heart. "Enjoy your breakfast Highness," she said and after hesitating for a second, she left blushing in embarrassment. The cold prince couldn’t afford her a glance let alone a thank you. But she expected less from him. In fact, it was a mystery to everyone in the palace how he managed to talk with a lady that long without doing anything. Rumors had already spread that he couldn’t touch her unless she wanted him to, and considering the fact that she was Crescian, your guess could be as good as everyone’s. Little did they know he had not only touched her but kissed her!"You could be anywhere. Maybe enjoying your time with women. I don’t care," she said and took a sip of her tea as if she cared for nothing in the world. Alexander was not only surprised but also amused by this wife of his. This had to do with that maid. Was she jealous? "I had gone savage last night so I went on a killing spree." He decided to tell her anyways just to clarify he wasn’t with his mistresses as she thought. "And I said I only spend time with my mistresses, nothing else." He clarified. "I can stop if you want.""No, no. It’s okay. I’m okay with that. It’s normal for princes to have mistresses." She hated that fact though. A prince or king could have mistresses but for a princess, she could only have one husband. That was unfair! Alexander was conflicted. She was so unpredictable! He liked her that way anyways. He vowed to cut ties with his mistresses from now moving forward."And about yesterday," he began. "About the kiss..." "Sorry for interrupting Your Highnesses conversation but you need to see this," the captain reported. Alexander clenched his fists damn hard that his knuckles turned white. "I’ll be back. We have to talk, Isadora." He called her by her name for once and she had to admit it sounded melodic."I’ll be waiting." And with that in mind, he left, unwillingly though.
