Chapter 191: Knight In Shining Armor

Alexander had arrived at the capital to only find a mess caused by the untamed dragon. Fortunately, the palace had yet to be set in flames. His mother was his first priority now. In a flash, he had reached the palace to only find the dragon had arrived at the same time. The golden scaled beast was large, turning everything it could lay its eyes on in flames. And for some odd reason, it started circling the palace without spitting fire. Alexander narrowed his eyes but this was the right opportunity to have everyone evacuated. First to come across was King Henry who looked lost deep in thought. He was seated in the garden staring at the world blankly with a solemn look on his face. "Your Majesty?" Alexander called making him startle like one from a nightmare. He looked at Alexander’s open wounds with a frown. None of his men were here too! "What happened?" "It’s a long story but you need to leave now!" Alexander said urging him to stand up and be on his heels already. Confused by the sudden turn of events, Henry tilted his head to one side and asked,"Why?" Damn it! Alexander didn’t have the energy and time to explain. And as if sparing him the energy, the dragon roared at the same time before setting a section of the palace in flames. Screams of women filled the area making both men to glance at that direction. "That’s the reason," Alexander said. "You need to help me in this. Take your wife and Roselyn with you while I look for my mother." Henry nodded. Queen Felista was still folding her clothes when she heard the loud growl of the dragon. She assumed it at first but fear crept into her soul when screams followed. Her heart raced as she gazed at the door expecting for the worst. And as if confirming her fear, the door was kicked open rendering her heart to momentarily stop. But on seeing who it was, she somehow calmed down. "We need to leave," Henry said striding to where she stood. He took her arm ready to leave but she stayed rooted to the same spot. Damn it! How could he have forgotten. His gaze softened at her as he released her hand. "We need to leave, please," said he in a soft voice, the underlying care easily detectable. Felista just looked at his worried face before she parted her lips and asked, "We?" Henry could have knelt asking for forgiveness right now but the situation couldn’t allow. But hearing that was like being struck by a thunderbolt out of the midday blue sky! What he did, to his wife, seemed unforgivable. The mother-daughter pair had definitely conspired to see him reach rock bottom, or so he thought. And thinking of his daughter, he needed to get her out of this place as well. "For your own safety, please leave. I’m going to get Roselyn as well." To Felista, Henry was just taking advantage of the situation to show how caring of a husband and father he was, while in reality, he was the real monster of a man. The whole act of the Knight in shining armor to her was just but a loophole for him to win their trust back. But she had to leave anyways. "Bring my daughter!" She said looking him in the eye. It was more of a threat than a request, something that Henry was quick to note. That at least gave him some hope of an ounce of forgiveness, later maybe. And he was quick to affirm the threat by nodding his head vigorously like a child. "I will." He made the promise both to himself and his wife. And with one last glance at her husband, Felista left with a Knight guiding her to safety. She would not have left without her daughter but since he had promised to bring her, she could only trust him, half heartedly though. For a man who could disown his own daughter, she had took a risk by placing her trust on him. But seeing how adamant he was to have both of them back, she could only hope he’d not do something stupid again. And not that Felista never wished to have her husband back. In fact, she of all the people missed to see the family back together in Arcadia. But the pain he made her daughter go through clouded her merciful heart with nothing but hatred. She could only hope her earlier version would mask her acting self. Rejecting his apology alone had taken a toll on her emotions yet she tried to put a strong personality so he could learn from his mistakes. Henry could not hide his fear when he saw Roselyn’s room caught in flames. With his heart pounding loudly in his chest, he made his way to her room but the flames couldn’t let him. Just now he had promised his wife to bring her but this! Tears clouded his eyes as he tried to push the locked door with all his might. After a number of failed attempts, the door flew open revealing an unconscious Roselyn who was lying just beside the door. Thank God she had not get burnt. Henry hurriedly scooped her in his arms and only then did he see burn marks on her left cheek. Would he have arrived a second late, her whole face would have been a zombies perfect definition. Fortunately, Alexander had found his mother in the safe Haven of the knights. She was a Queen after all. Members of the Royal family were given first priority when such disasters occurred. Now with his mother fine and Griffin arrested, Alexander had one last task to complete. To him, fighting and killing this dragon felt like his destiny. His mother had tried to stop him but he ordered the knights to take her and everyone from the palace. This was a fight he had to face on his own. He clenched his fists, a crazy energy surging through his veins; he had unleashed his full potential!
