Chapter 193: Drama Amidst A Disaster

With his mother safe, Alexander unleashed his full potential. He clenched his fists tightly narrowing his gaze at the berserk beast. He wanted to end this madness once and for all.

A gust of wind enveloped him and as if weightless, he went airborne landing softly on the beast’s back. A speck of fire ignited from his being before enveloping his whole body. His outstretched sword caught fire yet it did not get consumed. It was as if it had become one with him.

Alexander stabbed the dragon’s skin but it was too tough for his sword. A frown settled on his face but the dragon had earlier detected his presence and shook him off almost sending him off balance. Luckily, Alexander had the ability to stay airborne. He jumped back on its back.

To the dragon, Alexander was not only a nuisance but also one dangerous being. It could feel the power emanating from him and his will to end its life. Desperate to safeguard its soul, the dragon spit fire at an unexpecting Alexander. Luckily enough, he was quick to dodge the flames that ended up burning the dragon’s skin instead.

The beast grimaced in pain as it somersaulted crazily in the sky sending Alexander downwards. He tried activating his airborne powers but they failed him. He’d surely hit the ground hard this time!

And as if that was not enough, the dragon came his way vomiting fire aimlessly. One of the fire balls caught Alexander off guard and he couldn’t help but raise his elbow in defense. He closed his eyes tightly anticipating for double pain, that of getting burnt and falling hard on the ground.

His face twisted yet the pain was not coming. And that feeling, was someone holding him? He slowly lifted his face to only meet those familiar blue eyes staring back at him worried. He parted his lips to talk but only ended gasping in surprise. For a moment, the duo stared at each other with none uttering a word. It was only after Alexander shifted his gaze from her did he notice they were still airborne! But... how?

There was something about Isadora that had changed drastically and Alexander couldn’t put his finger on. She held his gaze and never for once did she break it before they landed softly on the ground.

"How... how did you do that?" He asked once she placed him on the ground.

Isadora just stared at him with no emotion when she suddenly looked around confused. She suddenly went all over Alexander worried.

"Are you okay?" She asked searching for any injuries on his body.

Confused was an understatement of what Alexander was experiencing currently. The way Isadora snapped out of her heroic self only acted to confuse him more. Wait! Did that mean she had no idea of what she had done?

"I’m fine. You saved me," he said, watching her reaction closely. And just as he had expected, she acted surprised.

"Me? How?"

"You should know better," he said trying to search for a hint on her face but she appeared clueless of what had happened.

The arrival of Lady Jade and the Valorians was what cleared Alexander’s doubt.

"You should not have done that Your Majesty," Jade cajoled panting for air. "Had anything bad happened to you, I would not have forgiven myself."

Isadora’s gaze darted between Alexander and Lady Jade. What the hell were the two talking about? Damn it! All she could remember was seeing Alexander falling. Jade had tried her best to stop her but a sudden surge of energy took the better part of her and the rest was history. The last thing she saw was Alexander staring at her!

"Are you alright?" Jade asked. Isadora was holding her head trying hard to remember what had happened yet nothing came into her mind. There was just this emptiness in her brain that had her asking questions. Right! Why was she stressing herself when these people saw what happened?

"Tell me Jade, what did I do?" She asked tugging her by her blouse.

Jade was surprised by her question and the odd silence from Alexander acted a little to help her. Was Isadora implying that all she did, nothing of it had registered in her mind? How absurd!

"You pushed me," she began, giving her a cold glare. "And then you went airborne catching him before you landed here."

Isadora’s brows furrowed even further. Her, airborne?! How ridiculous!! She was the weakest person in Crescia yet her aunt was claiming she had the ability to stay airborne!

"You’re joking, right?" She forced a laughter.

"What she said is true Isadora," Alexander seconded. "You saved my life. Thank you."

The whole damn thing now only acted to drive Isadora crazy. But before she could question further, a worried Roselyn came followed closely by her mother.

Just like Isadora, she was over Alexander’s body.

"Thank God you are not hurt," she sighed, doing little to hide her burnt face.

"I’m fine," Alexander said looking at her closely. "What happened to your face?"

"Um..." She looked around to only find everyone’s attention focused on her. This was what her mother dreaded when she tried to stop her but she didn’t listen. She wanted to see Alexander safe but look at what she had brought upon herself. She wouldn’t hide forever, would she? Maybe this was the perfect time to face her fears and embrace who she now was. It would also be a time to see if Alexander loved her.

Lifting her face courageously, she looked him in the eye said, "I got attacked by the dragon and my face just happened to be the victim. You don’t hate me now, do you?" She asked directly.

"I’ve never hated you Roselyn," Alexander answered cooly, and it was true.

"Then promise me that you’ll still marry me after this is over." She made sure to look at Isadora while saying the words which had Isadora force a smile. She anticipated for the answer as well but she dreaded what was about to happen. Somehow, she had predicted the outcome of the little drama amidst a disaster.
