He is sure that he will have a better chance of winning within his Cave Heaven because he will have the enhancement of his Cave Heaven and all of his law fragments within his Cave Heaven. So he won’t be handicapped the way he is in the second heaven.

At the very least, he expects that the fight can’t turn out worse than what it currently is because he and the enemy are both rank 6. Since the size of his Cave Heaven is extraordinary among rank 6 cultivators, he is confident that he will be able to turn the tide with the help of his Cave Heaven.

He had resorted to using the lake to drown the swordsman because he couldn’t mark the swordsman’s Cave Heaven, and because the Devouring Ability wasn’t strong enough to strip the swordsman’s body.

The Devouring Ability uses the power of his Cave Heaven to support itself. Since he can’t use the power of his Cave Heaven here, the Devouring Ability has become too weak to devour the body of the rank 6 swordsman.
