The Mad King's Heir
Chapter 107: Burglarizing Yu Wen
The plan was set in stone. Li Jun would burglarize Yu Wen’s hotel room. To make sure nothing went wrong, he found the least harmful knockout gas he could find. Yu Wen would sleep it off, and he probably would have a good night’s sleep, which he deserved anyway.
Yan Jia watched him suit up, looking extremely anxious. Li Jun looked up and said, "Pass me the ski mask." She hesitated for a moment, and Li Jun gave her that look that seemed to say hurry up. She picked it up and gave it to him.
Li Jun put it on and asked, "How do I look?"
She reached over and fixed it for him before saying, "Like you are about to commit crimes."
Hearing her say that, Li Jun smiled and said, "It’s not committing a crime if I am stealing back what I already own. Wish me luck."
Yan Jia sighed and said, "Press the emergency button if anything happens. I will come and rescue you." He nodded and picked up the few things he needed. He walked towards the balcony and looked up.
"Just be careful," she said, looking at the distance he had to scale up. It was a bit windy, and she was afraid he would fall off. Li Jun patted her shoulder to reassure her. If she only knew half of the shit he was up to when he was travelling, she would have a heart attack.
"Don’t be a worrywart. I will be back before you know it. By the way, help yourself to the minibar. I will show them my abs tomorrow, and we will get it all for free," he said with a smirk on his lips.
"Your highness, are you having financial difficulties?" Li Jun was one of, if not the most, wealthy person alive, so how could he be acting like he was on the verge of bankruptcy?
Li Jun chuckled and said, "I am very stingy. Who doesn’t like free stuff?" before tapping the device. The rope began to move, and he zip-lined four floors up. Yu Wen had been especially cautious. He had booked two floors of the hotel for himself and his men. He thought they could have one night of comfort before heading east.
The wind smacked Li Jun right in the face, but he didn’t flinch. His cheeks felt like the biting chill was cutting through his flesh, but he kept going. Soon, he pulled up to the balcony in the presidential suite. His footwork as light as a feather, he climbed over the rails.
It was already past midnight, but the lights were still on. He peeped in through the gaps of the curtains but saw no movement inside. "This is why you looked so fucking tired," he whispered to himself. Suddenly, he saw a figure walking towards the balcony. Li Jun climbed over the rails and leapt towards the other balcony, making sure not to make any sound.
He ducked down just as the balcony door was opened. He heard Alex saying, "There is nothing here. You are just being paranoid. We have drones patrolling outside the hotel, so you can rest easy."
The doors closed, and Li Jun, who had been crouching in the shadows, feeling really tense, heaved a sigh as he leaned his head back. He was starting to feel that Yan Jia was right. This was a stupid idea. He vowed that he would listen to her more in the future.
Knowing how overly sensitive Yu Wen was, he decided to stay put until Yu Wen had fallen asleep. It was only when the lights were off, and the sound of movement seemed to have stopped, that he got up.
His legs felt numb, but he still managed to climb back to the other balcony. According to the schematics of the presidential suite, this was the balcony closest to the master bedroom. He released the tiny bots underneath the door, and they crawled inside like roaches. As they crawled, they sprayed the knockout gas before self-destructing.
Li Jun waited for another thirty minutes, making sure that the gas had dissipated. He twisted the doorknob and realized the door was locked. "Damn you, Alex," he cursed under his breath.
Using the skills he learnt from his uncle, he infiltrated the lock and with a click, the lock released. He opened the door and peeked inside. There was no movement. With a smirk, he closed the door. Yu Wen should be knocked out cold in bed by now, or so he thought.
Yu Wen was indeed knocked out, but he wasn’t in the bedroom like he expected. He was sitting in an armchair with his plasma gun in hand. It was as if he knew there was someone on the balcony, and he was just waiting for them to enter.
But what he didn’t anticipate was the knockout gas. He had passed out in the chair. Li Jun walked over his steps steady and unhurried, but his heart was pounding hard against his chest. This was a rare opportunity. Yu Wen was knocked out, and he could do however he pleased with him.
He rubbed his chin, thinking about drawing stuff on his face. If not, then maybe he could dress him up in a dog costume and take a picture. Too bad he didn’t buy one. Not forgetting the matter at hand, he unbuttoned Yu Wen’s shirt.
When he saw a chain around his neck, he felt a jolt of excitement. He caressed the chain with his fingers before pulling it up. But his brows furrowed when he realized there was no pendant on the chain. It was just a chain.
Li Ju clicked his tongue in frustration. "Where the fuck is it?" he mumbled. He gently slapped Yu Wen’s face, trying to wake him up. "Hey, Yu Wen... Yu Wen, where is the pendant... Yu Wen."
He slapped him a couple of times, but the only response he got from him was a murmur. "Fuck," he swore under his breath. He took a look around, looking for a safe or anything. He entered the bedroom and checked Yu Wen’s suitcase.
It was neatly packed, so he had to be careful otherwise, Yu Wen would know that someone had been here. He unpacked it in a hurry but found nothing.
