Chapter 756 - Tiger-Shaped Pendant

After General Liu’s death, the monster blade became an ownerless Divine Weapon. Han Wu picked it up and heard a weakened Armament Spirit pleading with him to sacrifice the lives of others to complete its resurrection. Only then could the blade unleash its full powers; otherwise, it was as useful as a piece of rusted metal.

As a member of the Divine Civilization, Han Wu was accustomed to invading other civilizations regularly and had no qualms about sacrificing tens of millions of enemies. However, he found the Armament Spirit within it incredibly annoying.

As long as he held onto the blade, it would continuously urge him to sacrifice lives to it. This was akin to mental corruption. Though it didn’t affect him at the moment, there was a risk that its incessant pleas could influence his decision-making in the future.

Han Wu valued his clarity of mind and total control over his body, so he decided not to use it. Still, a 9-Star God-grade Divine Weapon was hard to destroy. While he could use another Divine Weapon to absorb it, he was worried that they would develop an evil consciousness under the influence of this Armament Spirit.

After going through his Divine Weapons, he made his choice.

First, he trapped General Liu’s soul within the Locust Soul Orb, then used the blade as the soul’s anchor. As a soul, General Liu couldn’t act independently, only according to Han Wu’s commands. That drastically reduced the chance of him using the blade for evil.

This hit two birds with one stone. Not only could the Locust Soul Orb acquire immense power if Han Wu were to sacrifice a million life forms to it, but it had also become a 9-Star God-grade Divine Weapon after absorbing its fourth soul.

Satisfied that another of his Divine Weapons had been maxed out, he turned to tell Qin Shuang and Master Ou the good news when he heard a cacophony of voices echoing from the distance.

A crowd of people was running toward them. Han Wu recognized them as students from the Demonic Imperial College.

“Great! We found Han Wu! We’re saved!”

“Han Wu, please help us! Mummies were chasing us, and two of our friends failed to escape. Please rescue them!”

“Han Wu, please help them, or they’re toast!”

Han Wu frowned. Is everyone from the Demonic Imperial College this rude? Do they think I’m their nanny?

“What does their death have to do with me?” he asked coldly.

The students were stunned.

“We’re from the same team, the Everlight City team. Aren’t you our team leader? Shouldn’t you help the team?”

“We’re from the Demonic Imperial College. If we die here, our results will be voided. Do you know how much failing even a single major class affects us?”

“You’re strong. Helping us should be no sweat off your back. Why won’t you save them?”

Han Wu scoffed. “The world doesn’t revolve around the weak. I’m strong because of my efforts. Also, what do your results have to do with me? Do you always get your results by relying on someone stronger?”

The students dared not argue. Three seconds passed in silence before someone stepped forward.

“Han Wu, what will it take for you to rescue the two from the mummies?” the person asked. “We won’t hesitate to pay the price if we can, since their results depend on their survival too.”

Han Wu nodded. “That’s how you should make requests. I’m curious. How did so many of you guys meet so easily?”

“Our seniors gave us all a beacon. Those with beacons can automatically detect each other within a five-kilometer radius,” the student explained, showing Han Wu the beacon in question.

It was a Divine Weapon, with the beacon appearing to be the end-user part of a support-oriented Divine Weapon.

Examining the beacon, Han Wu asked offhandedly, “Where are the mummies?”

“They’re in the northwest.” The student pointed into the distance.

Han Wu summoned his Explosive Locust Blade, grabbed the student, hopped onto the Firebat King, and flew off. It didn’t take long for them to see thousands of armed mummies swarming two students from the Demonic Imperial College.

The two fought fiercely, but they were outnumbered. The pair would likely fall to exhaustion within the next ten minutes if nothing was done.

Han Wu summoned the Small Locust Blades that had been coated in Royal Gold and attacked the mummies.

The blades stabbed through their hearts, and the mummies fell one after another. Beads of Royal Gold were left behind as they turned to dust. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

“Are you two alright?” Han Wu asked.

The two students collapsed to the ground from exhaustion and stress, the adrenaline from the near-death situation rushing out of them.

“Thanks for your help,” one said, standing up.

Han Wu recognized the student as one of Xu Mengmeng’s friends, Firewind.

“Is Mengmeng here?”

Firewind chuckled. “When I was transported, neither Mengmeng nor White Ice had been transported yet, but I’m not sure if that’s changed.”

Han Wu nodded. He had once had a good discussion with Xu Mengmeng, so he cared for her a little. Since Firewind was her friend, he decided to tell him everything he knew about the place.

“Never thought the method to deal with those mummies was so simple,” Firewind said, stunned. “The mummies have been chasing us relentlessly, and we even almost died at their hands. This is so embarrassing.”

“Just be careful next time,” Han Wu advised, preparing to leave.

“Han Wu, thanks for the assist,” Firewind called before tossing a tiger-shaped pendant to Han Wu. “I found this in a building. My detector tells me that there’s some strange energy coming from it. It might be of use to you.”

Han Wu examined the pendant. The material used to forge it was clearly unusual, and there was indeed a strange energy contained within it. He didn’t know what it was used for, but he had a feeling that it was important.

“Thanks.”

Firewind smiled. “I hope it’ll be of use to you.”
