The powerful Locust Dragon Roar crashed into the tower shield with a mighty force that pushed Baili Changhe back. Though uninjured, the difference between the two Divine Weapons was clear. The Locust Dragon Seal had not yet reached 9-Star God-grade, but its power was already equal to one.

Han Wu wanted to end this quickly, but Baili Changhe was clearly stalling for time, defending without attacking so Hei Qi could get away. Losing his patience, Han Wu discreetly signaled Qin Shuang behind him.

Qin Shuang immediately summoned her coin and started charging it with lightning energy. When the charge reached the maximum capacity, she flicked it toward Baili Changhe.

The coin slammed into the tower shield with a thunderous crash, its stored lightning releasing all at once. The impact transferred straight through the shield and into Baili Changhe, knocking him unconscious on the spot.

When Baili Changhe fell unconscious, the eye on the tower shield closed and vanished as though it had never been there at all. Hei Qi had slipped away, but at least Baili Changhe had been captured.

At Han Wu’s signal, Master Ou stepped forward. With the Taiqing Sword in his trembling grip, he decapitated the unconscious Baili Changhe. Surprisingly, Baili Changhe didn’t drop any Divine Weapons on death. All he left behind was his tower shield.

“Did he come in empty-handed? How could he have nothing?” Han Wu asked in disbelief.

Baili Changhe was one of the five best blacksmiths of Divine Weapon City. Han Wu had expected up to fifteen to twenty Divine Weapons to drop, not one.

“Maybe his weapons were all taken from him,” Qin Shuang suggested.

Jin Tuantuan nodded in agreement.

It didn’t take a genius to figure out the culprit. The fact that Hei Qi had grown strong enough to rob one of the five best blacksmiths of his Divine Weapons was frightening. Still, he was nothing compared to Han Wu.

Not wanting to disturb Master Ou, who was lost in quiet contemplation after completing his revenge, Han Wu sat on one of the meditation cushions and entered the White Tiger’s trial.

His consciousness was sent into the trial space; his opponent was a ferocious white tiger that looked as real as any living creature. Han Wu smiled—he had a tiger, too.

Summoning the Locust Soul Orb, he commanded it into its Armament Spirit form, the Calamitous Ghost Tiger.

The Calamitous Ghost Tiger had been through plenty of battles alongside Han Wu, but this time it completely misread his intentions. The white tiger across from it was obviously female. Its coloring, its build, and even its roar were all signs of a first-rate tiger.

Seeing this, the Calamitous Ghost Tiger assumed that Han Wu had arranged a blind date for it. The Calamitous Ghost Tiger, having developed a degree of intelligence over time, bashfully lowered its head as it brooded over how to break the ice. Before it could make the first move, the white tiger pounced.

How forward! thought the Calamitous Ghost Tiger. She wants to get straight to it on the first meeting?

Nevertheless, it wanted to take the lead, so it fought back, going for the white tiger’s body with its teeth. Unfortunately, the Calamitous Ghost Tiger had started out as an ordinary Armament Spirit, and the gap in strength between it and the white tiger was considerable. It was quickly pinned to the ground.

The Calamitous Ghost Tiger couldn’t stomach the idea of a female tiger dominating it. After all, it was a tiger, king of all beasts. It decisively summoned all the souls under its command—Ah Da, Ah Er, Ah Mao, and the newest addition, Little Liu—to hold down the white tiger’s four limbs.

Slipping out from underneath the white tiger, the Calamitous Ghost Tiger repositioned itself, mounting the white tiger from behind. A terrible foreboding settled in the white tiger’s stomach.

Han Wu had been watching from the sidelines, hoping to see a proper fight. While he certainly ended up witnessing something, it definitely wasn’t a fight.

A minute later, the Calamitous Ghost Tiger climbed down from the white tiger with a satisfied expression. Han Wu was flabbergasted at its endurance. The Calamitous Ghost Tiger looked fierce, but its... performance left something to be desired.

Before Han Wu could say anything, a notification came through, informing him that he had passed the trial and could claim the White Tiger Armament Spirit. Han Wu wasn’t quite sure what to make of the situation.

That counted as a fight? Technically, the Calamitous Ghost Tiger never used its claws or teeth, only “attacking” with a certain part, but it seemed that was enough to clear the trial.

Meanwhile, the Calamitous Ghost Tiger was basking in the thrill of tasting a female tiger for the first time. That memory would keep it going for a while.

The real trouble arose when Han Wu was deciding which Divine Weapon could house the White Tiger Armament Spirit. Only the Locust Soul Orb could take it in, but the Calamitous Ghost Tiger already dwelled inside it.

He was reluctant to let them fight it out like the Explosive Locust Blade. After all, the Calamitous Ghost Tiger had been with Han Wu the longest out of all his Armament Spirits, and he didn’t want the white tiger to actually kill it.

Still, Han Wu needed to grow stronger; he couldn’t afford to turn down a God-grade Armament Spirit.

As he was mulling it over, he examined the waiting White Tiger Armament Spirit more closely and realized it looked exactly like the female tiger from earlier.

If he was right, then having two Armament Spirits share the Locust Soul Orb likely wouldn’t be a problem after all. Han Wu took out the Locust Soul Orb and drew the White Tiger Armament Spirit in.

“Calamitous Ghost Tiger, this is the most I can do for you,” Han Wu said with a long sigh, withdrawing his consciousness from the trial space.

Han Wu decided to resolutely ignore the faint noises coming from the Locust Soul Orb after coming back out.

With his trial done, Qin Shuang and Jin Tuantuan no longer needed to stand guard. They sat on their own meditation cushions, entered the trial space, and started their own trials. Han Wu stood watch, keeping his guard up in case anyone came to disturb them.

1. Chapter summary: Han Wu and Qin Shuang defeat Baili Changhe, but Hei Qi escapes. Master Ou decapitates the captured Baili Changhe and completes his quest for vengeance. Han Wu starts the White Tiger's trial and succeeds thanks to the Calamitous Ghost Tiger, who "defeats" the opposing white tiger via rape. He then merges the White Tiger Armament Spirit with the Locust Soul Orb. ☜
