The People's God: Sacrificing Trillions to Ascend
Chapter 797 - New Self-Detonation + Skeleton Tide Warfare
The front-line scene appeared on the large screen.
Han Wu studied the Slaughter Faction’s deployment along the contact zone. He saw ground bombardment vehicles, anti-air arrow towers, and numerous trucks for charging the front.
Everyone in the room frowned. The sheer volume of war equipment was staggering. Living units stood no chance against such heavy machinery. Han Wu could already picture these war machines tearing through the battlefield and swallowing the Wisdom Faction’s territory.
“The War Faction’s resources are genuinely terrifying. Units alone won’t suffice against this volume of equipment. We need war machines of our own to counter them, or something with massive overwhelming combat power,” Wang Fugui said.
The other God Kings added their input.
“I have a few hundred giant War Kobolds that could match this equipment.”
“I can deploy Giant Iron Rhinos.”
“I don’t have giant units, but I do have high-yield explosive rounds.”
At the mention of explosive rounds, Xu Hai turned to Han Wu. “Han Wu, can your new Self-Detonation tactic still be used? What’s the cost?”
Han Wu replied at once, “The new Self-Detonation tactic requires very little and can be used continuously. I have the raw materials on hand.”
The God Kings cheered.
“With your new self-destruction tactic, we don’t need to expose our giant units on the battlefield.”
“Blow this war equipment to pieces. If possible, blast it straight into the Slaughter God King’s command room!”
Spurred by their enthusiasm, Han Wu summoned 3 million Bomber Locusts and had the Origin of Mutation bring ten bottles of concentrated spinal fluid. He diluted the fluid in water to the proper ratio and had the locusts drink it. Then he and the Origin of Mutation teleported to the front line and released them. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
Under Han Wu’s command, the 3 million Bomber Locusts formed ranks and flew toward the Slaughter Faction. He anticipated a massive detonation, but something unexpected happened. The moment the locusts entered the Slaughter Faction’s airspace, they started to fall.
Through his senses, Han Wu detected a no-fly zone that now covered their entire territory. They had established it at some unknown point, and the measure was clearly targeting him.
Han Wu hadn’t expected the Slaughter Faction to counter the new Self-Detonation tactic so soon after its debut. These battle-hardened veterans, tempered by hundreds of wars, were genuinely not to be underestimated.
Without aerial access, the tactic lost its core advantage. Worse still, the enemy weapon opened heavy fire, killing the locusts before even reaching the target zone. The Slaughter Faction had already deciphered Han Wu’s tactic.
Han Wu refused to waste his 3 million Bomber Locusts. “In that case, we need a different approach.”
He went to find Jing Jing. Her skeleton tide had grown to the massive scale, with over 10 billion skeleton troops rolling like a sea of white bone. The tide could assemble powerful giant skeleton vanguards on command. Even when individual skeletons were shattered, their fragments weren’t wasted. They fused together and repaired the giant vanguards.
Han Wu assessed the tide and formed a plan. He ordered the Bomber Locusts that had consumed the diluted spinal fluid to attach themselves to the thousand-meter-tall giant skeleton vanguards. Once they reached the target area, the locusts would detach, take position, and wait for the catalyst.
Jing Jing agreed without hesitation. Han Wu was her God, and she obeyed him without question.
The skeletons advanced, and the new tactic went into effect. Against a tide of 10 billion skeletons, the war equipment’s firepower was futile. Although the machinery opened fire and shattered countless skeletons, the broken bones instantly reassembled into new giant skeleton vanguards. In turn, they lifted the smaller war machines as if they were toys and destroyed everything within reach.
As for the larger, heavier machinery, even the giant vanguards couldn’t lift those. That was where the Bomber Locusts came in. Han Wu issued orders that whenever a mid- to large-sized war machine was spotted, the Bomber Locusts were to burrow inside it.
Wherever the skeletons passed, only wreckage remained, along with large war machines that now hosted Bomber Locusts.
Then the Origin of Mutation let out the thunderous shout. The locusts hidden inside the enormous war machines swelled rapidly. Some grew so large that they burst the machinery apart from within. Those that didn’t rupture them outright tore them apart when they detonated.
The scene appeared in the Slaughter Faction’s command room.
The Slaughter God King Butcher watched and wanted to draw his blade and cut Han Wu down. After all, he had disrupted his faction’s plans again and again. The offense was unforgivable.
Unfortunately, Huang Shengjun’s assassination had failed, and the Butcher had lost both his reputation and a capable subordinate in the process.
The Butcher scanned the command room and the assembled Major Gods, but found no one capable of killing Han Wu. In the entire Slaughter Faction, only he himself could likely match Han Wu. However, as the leader of a faction in a divine war, he couldn’t enter the main battle unless there was absolutely no other choice. The War Faction had upheld this principle for countless years, and he had always followed it without exception.
Nonetheless, Han Wu was making it impossible to stay calm. The skeleton tide, combined with the Self-Detonation tactic, had destroyed numerous war machines and inflicted heavy losses on the Slaughter Faction. Even if the Butcher could suppress his anger, his veterans couldn’t.
A battle-hardened Major God stood and requested permission. “Slaughter God King, I volunteer. Let me deal with Han Wu and his skeleton tide!“
His name was Jing Lei, and he was a specialist against the undead. His knowledge of anti-undead countermeasures alone could fill a dictionary. His strength was also considerable. By drawing on the formation of his core race, the Lightning Elementals, he could temporarily reach the strength of a World life form. He was one of the Butcher’s most valued subordinates.
“Jing Lei, since you’ve volunteered, make it count.“ The Butcher reached to his waist and produced a military seal that carried a powerful surge of divine power. It could sustain a formation at ten times its normal output for three minutes. With it, it was possible for Jing Lei to defeat Han Wu.
“I’ve received your order. Thank you for the gift, Slaughter God King,” Jing Lei said.
In the next moment, he teleported to face the skeleton tide. Before him, a rolling expanse of white bones surged like ocean waves.
Jing Lei was overjoyed. He loved fighting the undead.
