The Record of Orc Civilization
Chapter 387: The Sin of Envy
(Moku 3rd POV)
"MOKU!!!"
Moku smiled as he saw Nezena leap toward him. Even without using his inner eye, he could see how worried his wife was. It wasn’t just Nezena; relief was evident on the faces of all the monsters.
It seemed his tardiness had truly stirred up their emotions. But he couldn’t help it; there was a Level 8 Mana Core Demon that had made him late.
"Moku, where have you been? Do you have any idea how worried we were because we couldn’t reach you! You should realize your position as the king of this kingdom! You are bla bla bla bla..."
Without even turning, Moku knew it was Nevare’s voice, his beloved first wife. Though she sounded annoying, Moku could sense her genuine concern.
Perhaps among all the monsters in the room, Nevare was the one who worried about Moku the most and feared losing him.
If Nezena regarded Moku as a messenger of God, then Nevare saw him as her world.
Moku simply smiled at his first wife, who was angrily ranting with flushed cheeks. He picked up Nezena and walked toward Nevare with the same gentle smile.
"What? You can’t just be forgiven like that! How many times have you been so selfish like this! You are not only our leader but also a symbol of the monsters! Without you, everything we’ve built will be destroyed in an ins—"
Before Nevare could say more, Moku hugged her tightly. He could feel his chest wet with tears streaming from her eyes.
Nezena, still in Moku’s embrace, smiled; she also hugged her sister tightly. She knew that even though she worshiped Moku, it was Nevare who loved their husband more.
"I am sorry," Moku said softly.
Not long after, Nevare had calmed down and pushed Moku away firmly. "Can you explain why you couldn’t contact us?" she asked seriously.
Moku also became serious. He lowered Nezena and Nevare from his embrace and walked toward his throne in the middle of the room. The other monsters also returned to their seats.
Nezena, who was pregnant, casually sat on Moku’s lap, while his other wives took the seats next to him.
Seeing all the monsters back in their seats, Moku began to speak with a serious expression. "The reason I couldn’t contact you is because I met one of the demon upper up.
"He is Furfur, the demon of the volcano, the son of Momon, the sin of wrath. He came to me when I was on the brink of killing and winning a fierce battle that lasted for two days against Foras, the demon of doom, the son of Furfur, the grandson of Momon, the sin of wrath.
"He came to deliver a message to all of us from Lucifer, the sin of envy!"

(Furfur 3rd POV)
(Blackblood Bastion, North Bog Forest)
Furfur walked through the corridor, its ceiling towering ten meters above the ground.
He encountered a giant door guarded by two demons with terrifying faces. Their faces seemed split in half, one side crying and the other side laughing.
They were Stolas and Marchosias, the sons of Lucifer.
They held the same power and rank as Furfur, but they were assigned as the guardians of this door because Lucifer was inside the room behind it.
"I, Furfur, the demon of the volcano, the son of Momon, the sin of wrath, have come to meet Lucifer, Those Who Came Before, The Sin of Envy!"
Furfur’s voice echoed through the entire corridor. His voice wasn’t just loud; it also carried a strong aura natural to a demon as powerful as himself.
Those much weaker than him could instantly melt upon hearing his voice, but the two demons in front of him just stared at Furfur with blank faces.
"Wait here," Stolas, on Furfur’s right, said. He then stepped back, and his body seemed to sink into the giant door behind him.
Only Furfur and Marchosias remained in front of the door, and they said nothing. They just stared at each other, assessing one another.
Rivalry was common among demons, especially those born from different family.
In the blink of an eye, Furfur smiled triumphantly while Marchosias grimaced.
His sad face seemed to shed tears, while his laughing face became silent. In that brief eye exchange, Furfur managed to win a strand of hair from Marchosias.
Although Level 8 Mana Core Demons couldn’t ascend to Level 9, they could still train their curse essence. Like Foras, who was much stronger than his peers because of his ability to develop the essence of doom.
Not long after, Stolas reappeared from within the door, just as he had entered it.
"Our liege will see you," Stolas said shortly.
He then glanced at Marchosias with dissatisfaction. He could feel the brief exchange between Furfur and Marchosias, and his brother’s defeat made him angry.
Furfur paid no attention to the two demons and walked into the room that Marchosias had opened.
Although he managed to win a strand of hair against Marchosias, unfortunately, he lost a strand of hair against Stolas.
Entering the room, Furfur found a demon.
Four black bat-like wings adorned his back beautifully. His slender but muscular body was clad in a black silk shirt. In his right hand, he held a golden spear, while his left hand bore a skull adorned with two curved horns. A long tail swept behind him, covered in snake-like scales.
He was Lucifer, the sin of envy.
"Ah, my nephew has arrived!"
"I pay my respects to Your Eminence, Lucifer," With a quick movement, Furfur immediately knelt before Lucifer.
But before his knee could touch the ground, his body suddenly stopped. Furfur felt a great force holding him back from kneeling; it was so strong that even if Furfur used all his strength, his body wouldn’t move an inch.
Lucifer controlled the Mana around Furfur with a single finger and forced his body to stand up again.
"You don’t need to be so formal, my nephew. Why are you so stiff with your own family?"
Furfur stood awkwardly, still bowing his head, too afraid to look directly at Lucifer.
Although he was taller than Lucifer, Furfur would never dare to belittle the demon before him. Even if he had a million lives, it wouldn’t be enough to pay for his hypocrisy.
"Thank you, Your Majes—" Suddenly, Furfur’s lips sealed shut, and he glanced at Lucifer, who was clapping his index and thumb together. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
With a gentle smile that never seemed to fade, Lucifer said, "Uncle, call me Uncle. You Momon’s family are as stiff as stone. Nevertheless, we share the same blood, you know?"
Then Furfur’s lips could move again, and he quickly said, "I am sorry Uncle!"
"It’s okay, it’s okay, no harm is done. Ah... by the way, how is your son, Foras? Did you manage to save him?" Lucifer asked with a wide smile.
"I didn’t go there to save my son, Uncle. A loser like him would better breathe his last on this earth quickly to avoid embarrassing you and my father. I went there to carry out your orders to meet the one who defeated Foras the demon of doom."
Furfur frowned, seemingly not accepting what Lucifer said. He truly wanted to forget the pitiful face of his son, whom he always boasted about. If it weren’t for Lucifer’s orders, Furfur would have killed Foras then and there.
"Hahaha... you Momon’s family are really hard on yourselves. Foras is a genius demon, some might even say he is a prodigy. None of his peers can match him in mastering curse essence. But I truly didn’t expect him to be defeated by someone we’ve never heard of before."
"Uncle, you don’t need to defend that loser. A defeat is a defeat no matter how small the likelihood. I don’t like Foras’s defeat, but I’m not disappointed by it."
"Hmm... From your tone, it seems Foras is still alive. That’s good! We Origin Demons cannot increase through natural reproduction anymore. So, the death of one Origin Demon would be regrettable. Beyond that, it’s up to you how you will raise your son."
Furfur nodded, understanding what Lucifer meant.
After the third generation is born, demon species become increasingly difficult to reproduce. Lucifer and Beelzebub found this was due to the depletion of Daemon’s DNA within the bodies of Origin Demons.
Therefore, they were reluctant to send Origin Demons to dangerous battlefields and only sent Mana Demons to drain the enemy’s troops.
"What do you think of this Moku?" Lucifer asked.
"He is a warrior," Furfur replied shortly.
"Oh? It seems you admire the enemy who defeated your son?"
Furfur shook his head, "I am just stating my objective view, Uncle."
"Okay, besides that?" Lucifer inquired again.
"I cannot sense any Mana in his body. It’s very strange..."
"Hehehe... indeed, it’s very strange. Someone with such power and yet no Mana can be sensed in his body is truly impossible. Yet, here we are. Can you tell me in detail about your conversation?"
Furfur nodded and began recounting the events of the day before.
