the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart
Chapter 1164: Jealous? So He Made Her So Sore She Couldn’t Get Out of Bed?
Leah was pulled onto his lap, her hips involuntarily shifting slightly, not wanting to pressure his legs. Now that he finally had some sensation in them, she didn’t want to harm him.
"Stop fooling around, we have a flight to catch tomorrow," Leah said with a smile, not understanding why he was suddenly so clingy.
Richard Shaw wrapped his steel-like arms around her slender waist, holding her tightly in his embrace, feeling her soft body, her faint breaths, and her familiar scent.
She was his, she was right there in his arms, not anywhere else. Those years of suppressing his feelings had reached an extreme, fooling everyone, including himself. He didn’t want to suppress them anymore.
The man held her silently.
Leah reached out and touched his forehead, softly asking, "What’s going on, hmm?" 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"Nothing, just felt like holding you," the man said in a low, hoarse voice.
Leah had no choice but to chat with him; in the end, they didn’t even pack their luggage and drowsily fell asleep.
The next day was a chaotic rush to catch a flight, and it wasn’t until they arrived in Switzerland that they settled down after a busy day.
Richard Shaw had originally thought they could finally relax upon arriving in Switzerland, but a month later, Leah’s two ragdoll cats went missing. Leah was anxious and worried, then Hawk Howard returned the two kittens, politely smiling and saying, "I live next door. I have a veterinary certificate, so if these two kittens have any problems in the future, feel free to come to me."
Leah was overjoyed to not only see a familiar face in a foreign land but also have her two cats saved by a veterinarian, instantly increasing her goodwill towards Hawk Howard.
Richard Shaw’s face turned dark as iron, wishing he could crush the wheelchair armrest.
A veterinary certificate? Is it a fake or newly acquired? Buying a house and obtaining a certificate within a month, was he planning for a prolonged battle?
Hawk Howard brought the kittens and left with a polite smile, without staying long, but occasionally bumped into them later on.
The two men had countless known and unknown confrontations, but with one being from the Shaw Family and the other from the Howard Family, they restrained from escalating for the sake of family harmony. Leah noticed that every time she exchanged cat-raising tips with Caspian Howard next door, she’d inevitably be bedridden after returning home.
After several incidents, Leah realized something was off. Jealousy? Making her exhausted to the point of not being able to get out of bed unless she called him a good brother?
Hmm, locked up in a small dark room, left on a cold bench, benefits revoked.
Time flew by like this until September when Delphine went to Imperial City Language School as an exchange student with 4-year-old Nicholas Carter, making Leah restless.
Richard Shaw had been treating his legs for three years; he could walk with a cane but couldn’t walk for long. Griffith Squire was still missing without a trace, and Caspian Howard was teaching at a university in Switzerland, constantly pursued by young girls, even Richard Shaw received attention from pursuing girls.
Leah was utterly annoyed, staying in her room to video call Delphine, looking at the courtyard she recently rented.
"This courtyard houses several families, and the environment isn’t great." Leah looked around, shaking her head.
"Just making do for now; I’ll move once I find a suitable place. Mainly because Nicholas hasn’t found a kindergarten yet, I’d like to live somewhere nearer for convenience," Delphine chuckled.
Nicholas, who was reading, perked up hearing his name, but upon realizing there was nothing about him, he returned to his book.
This made Leah and Delphine laugh.
"Your Nicholas is so lovable, surely a future academic ace," Leah said, laughing on the bed.
"He just loves reading too much and isn’t very lively, which worries me," Delphine laughed, her usually placid and pale face showing some warmth when talking about her child.
"Being gentle is good; you couldn’t handle him being too mischievous."
"Richard Shaw’s legs still haven’t healed?" Delphine found it odd, having been in Switzerland for three years.
"Whether he’s healed or not, you’re going back, and I need to go see my godson, leaving Old Richard in Switzerland for his treatment alone." Leah huffed, frustrated with the man’s recent poor behavior. Comparing him to Caspian Howard next door, who was gentle, refined, and knowledgeable, comfortable as a friend, unlike him with a perpetual stern face or excessive demands in bed, Leah didn’t even want to mention him.
"You two have dragged this on for years; if it’s suitable, just get married and live properly. If not, separate early to avoid future pain," Delphine laughed, shaking her head. Leah had a good nature with girlfriends, enjoying being spoiled, but was far less tolerant with men, commanding and authoritative. Richard Shaw, a Major General in Imperial City, had pursued her without status or name for three years, showing genuine commitment.
Delphine’s impression of Richard was excellent, but Leah’s lost memories still caused her concern.
"Haven’t you been dreaming about the past lately?"
"When I first arrived in Switzerland, I had a few nightmares, but I didn’t remember the content clearly; now I rarely have nightmares." Leah’s face flushed, recalling the nights spent restless until very late, leaving little room for dreams.
Richard Shaw was so energetic; how could his legs not heal? Leah seriously doubted that all his strength was spent on their bedroom activities.
"I’ve also asked Aiden, your previous attending physician, and he said the medication suppressing your nerves had been taken for a long time, requiring gradual recovery, maybe months, maybe decades. With you taking Nicholas back to Imperial City, I’m worried, so I booked my ticket and will fly to Imperial City in the coming days," Leah said.
Delphine, with Nicholas as a single mother and son, would undoubtedly cause waves if found by Ignatius Leclair, prompting Leah to go back and keep an eye.
"I’m all settled here; you needn’t worry about us." Delphine thought briefly, choosing not to inquire about Griffith Squire. Over the years, they’d gradually stopped mentioning him, the more significant sometimes concealed deeper.
While chatting, there was a knock at the door. Richard Shaw entered, seeing Leah video chatting with Delphine Carter, pursing his lips without speaking.
Leah noted his slightly anxious expression, quickly ended the call after a few words with Delphine, and asked, "What’s up?"
"Yesterday afternoon, there were reports of someone possibly sighting Griffith Squire in Italy," Richard Shaw said in a low voice.
Leah’s phone fell abruptly onto the floor; her complexion changed drastically, her body trembling slightly. Griffith Squire? Could it really be him?
"Leah, don’t worry, I’ve booked our tickets. We’re flying to Italy immediately; I’ve also enlisted customs’ help in the investigation. As long as Griffith Squire is in Italy, we will find him." Richard Shaw grasped her trembling hand, speaking reassuringly.
