Top-Tier Female, All Beastmen Want Her
Chapter 95: Locked Up
The environment was dim and crowded. The Hovercar was in flight, and Jiang Zheyu was dozing off inside. As a result, when the Hovercar reached its destination and came to a stop, she didn’t even notice.
Not until the Hovercar’s door was violently yanked open with a loud clatter did she stir. A rough, booming voice shouted from outside, "Hurry up! All of you, get the hell out! If you’re slow, I’ll kick your ass!"
Jiang Zheyu was jolted fully awake, her tea-colored eyes widening.
The other Beastmen inside the Hovercar scrambled and tumbled out as fast as they could.
A few who were too slow were indeed sent flying with a kick.
The Male Beastman’s irate voice roared, "Move it! I’ll kill you if you keep dragging your feet."
A cold sweat broke out across Jiang Zheyu’s skin, and her heart clenched. She kept her eyes fixed on the Beastman in front of her, rushing out nimbly right behind him, terrified she’d be a step too slow and get kicked herself.
’Phew, that was a close call! I didn’t get kicked!’
"Everyone, form two lines and stand properly!" another Male Beastman’s voice commanded.
In an instant, the scattered Male Beastmen shuffled into place.
The Transformation Potion Jiang Zheyu had bought from the system had turned her into a Rabbit Beastman. Her build was similar to her original body, and even her eyes bore a slight resemblance to her own.
However, she hadn’t seen her transformed appearance yet, so she had no idea about the resemblance.
She now stood in the middle of the second row, flanked on both sides by Male Beastmen who were the same height as her.
Jiang Zheyu also noticed that these Beastmen were all of the delicate type, like slender youths. They lacked brawny muscles and had fair, almost translucent skin.
A salty, damp sea breeze washed over them, accompanied by the layered sound of crashing waves.
Jiang Zheyu lowered her gaze, her eyes falling on the grains of sand beneath her feet.
She realized they must be on a beach. The night air was cool, and it was too dark to see the sand clearly, but she could feel its soft, yielding texture under her feet.
The Male Beastman seemed to count them, then cursed, "Fuck, there are only nine of them. We’re short five."
"Just report it as is later," the other Male Beastman said, seeing no other option. "You take them and lock them up. We’ll assign them to departments tomorrow to make some money. I’m going to report to the boss."
"Fine, I get it, I get it," the first Male Beastman said, waving his hand impatiently.
The other Beastman didn’t bother saying anything more and left directly.
"All of you, follow me!" the remaining Male Beastman barked. "And don’t try any tricks. My spiritual power is monitoring all of you. Anyone who dares to run will be crushed to death by it."
The rest of the Beastmen were dead silent, too terrified to resist, let alone make a sound.
Huddled in the line, Jiang Zheyu was even more afraid to speak.
The group of Beastmen followed the Male Beastman through a grove of banana trees.
A magnificent, palace-like building came into view, brilliantly lit as if dusted with fine, glittering powder.
Moonlight spilled down, making the structure look both mysterious and splendidly beautiful.
And this island was merely one of Si Yu’s private properties.
The base Si Yu had wanted to take Jiang Zheyu to was not this place. If this island was already so glorious, one could hardly imagine how much more spectacular Si Yu’s main base must be.
But Jiang Zheyu knew none of this.
She followed the Male Beastman through the building’s main gate and discovered that even the entrance was guarded by armed Beastmen.
Automated surveillance drones flew through the air, seemingly able to reach any corner of the building.
Security here was extremely tight.
’My fate is truly cursed,’ Jiang Zheyu lamented internally.
The Male Beastman led them along a winding path. Before Jiang Zheyu could even begin to memorize the route, she was shoved into a cell.
The cell was exceptionally crowded.
It seemed they were determined to cram everyone in, continuing to shove people inside as long as there was any space left.
Jiang Zheyu was speechless.
In such a cramped space, surrounded entirely by Male Beastmen, Jiang Zheyu had expected to be hit with the stench of sweat.
But in reality, what she smelled was the heavy scent of rouge and powder. The mix of different cosmetic fragrances was pungent and overwhelming.
’Wait, aren’t we all Male Beastmen here? Why does everyone reek of makeup?’
Jiang Zheyu saw that the Male Beastman guard had left.
She mustered up some courage and asked the Beastman next to her, "Hey, what kind of makeup are you wearing? It smells pretty nice."
’It didn’t smell nice at all, actually.’
But Jiang Zheyu lied through her teeth, hoping to get some information.
However, the Beastman beside her remained completely still, as if he hadn’t heard a word she said.
’I’m surrounded by a crush of Beastmen,’ she thought. ’He probably doesn’t realize I’m talking to him.’
"Hey, hello," Jiang Zheyu said, deciding to take action. She lightly tapped the Beastman’s shoulder.
Only then did the Beastman next to her turn his head numbly to look at her.
The Beastman had a delicate, innocent face, looking very much like a young boy.
"You were talking to me?" the Beastman asked slowly, his voice carrying the clean, clear tone of a youth.
Hearing his voice, Jiang Zheyu knew he was indeed a Male Beastman. But why did he also smell like makeup?
’Could it be that the Male Beastmen here actually enjoy wearing makeup and know a lot about it?’
"Yes, I was talking to you," Jiang Zheyu nodded, then asked again in a hushed voice, "It’s what I asked you before. What kind of makeup are you wearing? It smells quite fragrant."
Hearing this, the young Beastman’s eyes seemed to falter, and his expression turned a bit strange. "You... you think this makeup smells *fragrant*?"
Seeing his reaction, Jiang Zheyu knew she had said the wrong thing.
"Actually, it’s not that fragrant," Jiang Zheyu said with an awkward smile. "I’m new here, so I don’t know the rules yet."
The cell was so crowded that any slight movement caused her to bump into those around her. She could only stand, unable to even sit down, and she could feel her legs growing stiff.
Although her voice was quiet, the few Beastmen closest to her heard it.
Upon hearing that she was new, those Beastmen all turned their heads to look at her.
Meeting so many gazes at once, Jiang Zheyu felt her scalp tingle. She gave a dry laugh. "What is it?"
"Newcomers aren’t supposed to be locked in here," the boyish Beastman next to her said.
"Everyone in this cell is a veteran, ready for assignment."
