Valerian, The Legendary
Chapter 378: Nightmare of the Dungeon.
Valerian faced the dozen of men alone and came out unscathed. He did not kill them all this time but broke their hands and legs. He stood before them indifferently and said, "You all are nothing more than a bunch of breathing corpses to me. But think about the people out there waiting for you. Do you wish to die for the dream of some stupid kid who did not understand his level and came to trouble me?"
The people shivered. They had seen how cruel this young man was. He attacked them without any hesitation in his eyes. All the attacks were made decisively and quickly. Valerian had instilled the fear of wind in their beings.
Every time Valerian attacked the people, he was as swift as the wind. The young man watched them all shiver and said, "Why aren’t you wearing uniforms like those Avion Party guys?"
He asked calmly, but none of the people replied. Valerian sighed, took out his knife, and said, "I did not intend to kill any of you, but since none of you cherish your lives. I do not mind easing up the burden."
One of the men succumbed and said, "Sir, we are all here in greed of the bounty. The leader of the Avion Party has put up a bounty on your head."
Valerian nodded and said, "I do not see why you people are so stupid. Well, go out and tell the others. If they come to find trouble, they will get death. This dispute is between me and those losers of the Avion party. Okay? Now will you help each other leave this place?"
The people nodded, quickly taking some potions to heal their injuries and leaving the cavern the same way they had. However, the python in the dark did not wish for them to leave and swooped down from the ceiling.
Valerian saw the situation and found that these panicked people did not even know that death was coming at them and flung his knife with full power. A muffled bang sounded, and when the people turned to look around, they found the head of a python nailed to the cave wall with a knife passing through it.
The young man spared their life, and then he saved them too. This did not only make them fear Valerian but also respect him. Valerian did not bother and took back his knife before he turned around to walk away.
Around the corner, Valerian regrouped with Shiba and the rest as they headed deeper inside the dungeons.
...
The City was shocked when the surviving Dungeoneers returned with minor injuries. They thought Valerian was done for, but they all delivered the message to the people. None of the Dungeoneers were expecting to face something like this.
At this moment, the Craftsmen Guild decided to strike. They refused to sell any weapons to anyone. The City was in chaos. None of the people expected such an action. The Dungeoneers were not even allowed to step inside the Craftsmen Guild.
They all were helpless and decided to go to the Dungeoneer guild. They forced the old reclusive Old Guild Leader to go to the Craftsmen Guild and confront Adler.
Adler stood at the door, looked at his counterpart about to climb the steps, and said, "Stop right there. We do not welcome men without pride."
The dungeoneer guild leader raised his head and said, "I dare you to repeat that, Adler."
Master Adler snorted and replied, "Do you think a man who will allow that ridiculous bounty mission to be posted on the board has any pride? How dare you come out to negotiate, you spineless rat. Go crawl back to your hole and wait for your master Lex Avion to feed you."
The crowd gasped, although there was a rumor that the leader of the Avion Party was running the guild in the shadows. Now that Adler said it out loud, it made the people almost believe this. After all, how come the bounty mission was even allowed to be posted?
Adler said, "Rafta, you might think you are the strongest here, but let me tell you, that child is not someone you should mess with. If the Avion party is eager to kill him, let them go to the Dungeon themselves. Why drag the rest?"
Rafta gazed at the old man and wanted to say when Adler said, "Do you all think the same? The dispute started because of a stupid deputy who enticed trouble. Valerian did not go out to seek any trouble. If the Avions are so brave, why are they sending you all to die? Valerian did not kill anyone of those who took the bounty on his head. The rules say that he can kill them all in self-defense. Then why do the Dungeoneer Guild’s cowards declare him the culprit."
Rafta was left speechless for a second, then he refuted, "What do you even know about the Dungeon? Just because someone made fun of him, he will go and kill them? Do you know this sort of person can become the nightmare of Dungeons?"
The people nodded, but Adler burst into laughter. His voice was so loud that it drowned the murmurs of the spectators. He said, "He showed mercy when he only humiliated that young master of yours. The nightmare of the Dungeon is the Avion party. Do you think people do not know how they conduct business? Preach to those who do not know what the truth is, Rafta. Suck the cock of Lex Avion and be his lap dog. You are not even qualified to be a dungeoneer, let alone the guild leader."
Rafta was glaring at Adler with his eyes completely red. He shot forward with a sword in his hand. He was not to be underestimated. This guy had been the guild leader because he had some credibility. However, Adler was unafraid. Watching Rafta attack him in public, the old man also had no hesitation.
Adler snatched the war ax held by Taurus and vanished from his position. The impact of his movement was so strong that the floor cracked under his feet. The two weapons collided, and then everyone saw two leaders appearing in swapped positions. The people did not know what happened, but then they spotted Rafta missing his right hand.
Adler stood up and said, "If anyone wants to try and test the patience of the Craftsmen guild, they are welcome to come over and visit me. I assure you of a good answer that will satisfy all your curiosity."
The old man picked up his weapon and climbed the stairs. When he reached closer to Rafta, the old man shoved him to the side and said, "Someone, take him away. Or he will die from blood loss here."
The commotion before the Craftsmen guild ended with the Craftsmen’s side’s victory. They closed the guild and refused anyone who came to their door.
...
In the Avion Party manner, Lex Avion, a middle-aged man, sat in the hall. His chair looked like a throne, and the hall was arranged like a royal court. Maximus stood before him with his head bowed.
Lex asked, "Why did you post the bounty mission?" 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Maximus replied, "To save the effort. Our men were killed, so I thought I should save as many lives as possible."
Lex nodded and said, "You thought for the men, good. However, you should know that the face of the Avion Party is not to be maligned. Rafta, that old fool raised a commotion before the Craftsmen guild. I do not wish to see people look at us and think we are cowards.
Deploy them all, and have every quadrant leader to helm the hunt. I want to have a head on a silver plate by the end of the month. Craftsmen Guild has locked out everyone, so even if they manage to come out, you can go after them in public. Okay?"
Maximus nodded and left the hall to arrange the deployment of the party.
...
Inside the dungeon, Valerian and the rest of his teammates have just stepped on the fourteenth floor and were dealing with a horde of bulls. They did not have much trouble because the shield held by Captain worked perfectly.
Shiba slashed down the last of these bulls and asked, "What do you think Val?"
Valerian nodded and said, "You have improved greatly, but we lack more potions. We lack rest. We need to head to the fifteenth floor as soon as possible."
Viney asked, "The fifteenth floor is the place where the wild boss roams. How are we going to rest there?"
Valerian replied, "It is not omnipotent and the floor is basically empty. Do you understand what I am trying to say? If we face any kind of trouble, we will have the room to maneuver."
Viney realized his intentions and nodded but at the same time, Captain asked, "Val, do you think those Avion people will come back?"
Valerian nodded, "I strongly feel that they will come very soon. But I will be waiting."
