Venerable Demon Chef
Chapter 115 - 113: Ransoming San Pang
Liu Hui walked over to Jin Sanpang, his face impassive. He squatted down, patted his chubby face forcefully, and cracked a wide grin, revealing two rows of big white teeth.
"You still breathing, Fatty?"
His voice was thirty percent teasing and seventy percent concern.
Jin Sanpang had been touched that Liu Hui was injured this badly for his sake, but after hearing that, he endured the searing pain of his wounds and forced himself to sit up.
He puffed out his cheeks and blew a gust of air right at Liu Hui, spattering his face with saliva.
"Dazed Dragon, San Pang has plenty of breath left in him!"
"What’s with the attitude, Fatty? I avenged you, didn’t I?" Liu Hui wiped the spit from his face in disgust, smearing it on Jin Sanpang’s stomach.
"No, you didn’t! Dazed Dragon, it only counts as revenge if you kill him," Jin Sanpang said bluntly, pointing at Zhang Shao.
"Heh, you fatty!" Liu Hui pretended not to hear him.
’Are you kidding me? Kill Zhang Shao? Didn’t he see that even Yang Ming was no match for him?’
"Heh, Dazed Dragon!" Jin Sanpang huffed. "If Brother Mo were here, he’d definitely get revenge for me!"
"..."
Liu Hui was left speechless. He could be compared to anyone, just not that monster, Mo Qi.
Forget about killing Zhang Shao; if someone told Liu Hui that Mo Qi could seize the throne from the Emperor of the Mountain and Sea Empire, he wouldn’t be the least bit surprised. In fact, he would find it completely natural.
’To him, there was nothing in this world Mo Qi couldn’t accomplish.’
Just then, a warning flared in Liu Hui’s mind as an overwhelming sense of danger washed over him.
"Not good!"
With no time to think, he grabbed Jin Sanpang and dodged to the side.
But before he could complete the movement, an immense force immobilized both him and Jin Sanpang.
"Zhang Shao, are you testing the limits of my patience?"
As Yun Xuzi’s voice rang out, Liu Hui felt his body loosen. His freedom restored, he quickly pulled Jin Sanpang over to Yang Ming’s side.
Looking back, he saw Zhang Shao and Yun Xuzi facing off against each other in the spot he had just vacated.
"What, can’t take a loss, so you decide to attack a junior?" Yun Xuzi looked at Zhang Shao, feeling an immense sense of satisfaction.
"Don’t forget, you were the one who set the rules. Fists have no eyes; death and injury are each their own to bear."
’He could turn a blind eye to Jin Sanpang, or even Elite Disciples like Chen Liang and Huang Hao, but he could not ignore Liu Hui.’
’Liu Hui’s stunning performance after his Dragon Transformation, in particular, had shown Yun Xuzi a glimpse of the future.’
’That was the Dragon Blood Talent!’
’This only strengthened Yun Xuzi’s resolve: he had to eliminate Mo Qi and win Liu Hui’s loyalty.’
Zhang Shao shook his head and sneered. "Yun Xuzi, you underestimate me. I merely wish to capture a traitor of my Wolf Fang Sect."
Clearly, the traitor he was referring to was Jin Sanpang.
"Hand the traitor over to me!"
"Impossible!"
Liu Hui shot down the demand before Yun Xuzi could even speak.
"If you want to take Fatty, you’ll have to do it over my dead body!"
Liu Hui’s resolve made Yun Xuzi swallow the words of persuasion that were on the tip of his tongue.
’In his opinion, since Jin Sanpang was a member of the Wolf Fang Sect, it was neither reasonable nor proper for him to remain in the Void Sect.’
"It seems you two are very close," Zhang Shao said, his eyes narrowing as a sharp light glinted within them.
"I can give you a chance!" Zhang Shao suddenly pointed to the two remaining Wolf Fang Sect disciples. "If you can defeat them both, I will drop the matter concerning Jin Sanpang. How about it?"
Liu Hui’s talent had sparked Zhang Shao’s killing intent.
’If this boy is allowed to mature, he will one day become a powerhouse capable of dominating the region. He would be a massive threat to the Wolf Fang Sect.’
’Here, on the Void Sect’s home turf, no matter how powerful Zhang Shao was, he wouldn’t dare to personally make a move against Liu Hui.’
’However, if Liu Hui were to be killed by a disciple of the same generation in a fair duel, the Void Sect would have no choice but to swallow their anger and accept it.’
"Fine!"
"You can’t!"
Liu Hui’s and Yun Xuzi’s voices rang out at the same time.
To "ransom" Jin Sanpang, Liu Hui was not afraid to fight.
Yun Xuzi, however, had seen through Zhang Shao’s objective; his malicious intent was plain to see.
"Whether I fight or not is my choice. You have no right to interfere," Liu Hui said, frowning at Yun Xuzi with a look of displeasure.
Not minding Liu Hui’s attitude in the slightest, Yun Xuzi tried to reason with him earnestly. "Liu Hui, calm yourself. Don’t be impulsive. Zhang Shao’s proposition is ill-intentioned. He wants to kill you!"
"This is my business, so stay out of it! Besides, do you really think I’ll lose?"
Although he knew Yun Xuzi’s warning came from a good place, Liu Hui still felt no goodwill toward him.
"You..."
Yun Xuzi wished he could just lock Liu Hui up to prevent him from competing.
But after thinking it over and over, he abandoned the idea.
’He could tell that because of the incident with Mo Qi, Liu Hui was already deeply dissatisfied with the Void Sect.’
’If he were to interfere now, he feared this genius would truly turn his back on the Void Sect for good.’
In the end, Yun Xuzi could only choose to trust Liu Hui and believe in his strength.
After entrusting Jin Sanpang to Yang Ming’s care, Liu Hui leaped into the center of the main hall, his eyes fixed on Zhang Shao.
"I hope you keep your word."
"My word has always been my bond!" Zhang Shao sneered, giving his two disciples a meaningful look.
The second young man nodded, ready to step forward, but was stopped by a figure in a black-robed cloak.
"I’ll go." A hoarse, grating voice came from within the black cloak, like the sound of metal scraping against the ground, enough to give one goosebumps.
The young man flinched slightly before retreating to the side, his astonished expression tinged with fear.
"Liu Hui... we meet again. You continue to surprise me," the cloaked figure said chillingly as they came to stand before Liu Hui.
"You know me? Who are you?" Liu Hui looked the person up and down, but he couldn’t make out their face or determine their identity.
"Hyeh hyeh... of course, I do. As for who I am, wait until I’ve killed Mo Qi. I’ll have him tell you in the afterlife."
"Tch!" Liu Hui sneered in contempt. "A coward who hides their face and name. You think someone like you can kill my lord? Are you dreaming? First, try surviving a fight with me!"
The moment the words left his mouth, Liu Hui shot forward and launched the first attack.
But the cloaked figure remained standing perfectly still, making no move to defend or attack.
Just as Liu Hui’s fist was an inch away from the cloak, a pale, bloodless arm shot out from the black robe, and three fingers clamped around his wrist.
His fist froze in place, unable to advance another millimeter.
’What?!’
The immense power radiating from his wrist made Liu Hui’s face drain of color.
Even with his arm covered in Dragon Scales and empowered by Dragon Energy, he could feel his wrist being crushed in excruciating pain.
’What kind of terrifying strength did it take to do this?!’
Not only that, but the three fingers were frighteningly cold. A bone-piercing chill seeped through his scales and traveled up his arm, heading straight for his Sea of Consciousness.
"Hyeh hyeh, the game is over. You can die now."
Beneath the black hood, two points of dark light flickered.
Liu Hui suddenly felt a sharp pain in his Sea of Consciousness, as if something had bored its way inside, and his vision went black.
He subconsciously tried to pull back, only to find that his mind felt disconnected from his body, unable to control his movements.
The cloaked figure raised their other hand and pointed a finger toward the spot between Liu Hui’s eyebrows.
"Not good!" Yun Xuzi and the others cried out in alarm.
It was already too late to stop it; they had never expected Liu Hui to be so hopelessly outmatched by the cloaked figure.
Just then, a large wok fell from the sky, abruptly materializing between Liu Hui and the cloaked figure.
DONG!
The cloaked figure’s finger struck the large wok, letting out a tremendous clang.
