Chapter 824 - 365: Book of Chaos (Part 3)
Laine followed behind a few Wizards, while Supreme Light Mage Kant and Bright Academy Director Odo were reporting to Tygris: "We are truly sorry, really sorry, Lord Tygris, your seal allowed Egrem von Hostman to ruin it. We tried our best to salvage most of the assets, but that traitor still escaped."
"Egrem?" Laine asked in confusion.
"Egrem, former Supreme Light Mage, was once the smartest, most talented, and gifted Light Mage," Emperor Carl Franz explained to Laine. "However, his excessive desire for knowledge and power led him to attempt contact with the God of Darkness. By virtue of his title as Supreme Light Mage, he entered the Light Pyramid and peeked at a forbidden book, after which he completely fell and became a cultist of Tzeentch."
"At first, no one noticed Egrem had turned into a Chaos Cultist. He always carefully concealed himself, secretly corrupting the entire Bright Academy, until by chance, Kant discovered his mentor Egrem's fall and thus found out half of the academy's students had become Chaos Cultists. At this point, Kant chose to seek assistance from the Church, and Vicma the Resolute, the Justice Church Archbishop, gathered over a hundred Demon Hunters and hundreds of Combat Priests to enter Bright Academy, thoroughly defeating Egrem and his followers, but that traitor still escaped," Emperor Carl Franz shook his head regretfully. "Egrem self-proclaimed as the 'Black Demon King,' and established a secret society of fallen wizards."
"Another traitor corrupted."
The group entered the deep, dark interior of the Light Pyramid, where Tygris easily waved his magic staff to open the seal.
Walking through the long corridors, amidst a large arrangement of burning candle-topped wooden tables, lay a book with a gray cover stained with blue blots.
"It was this book Egrem read that suddenly corrupted and led him astray," Supreme Light Mage Vespasian Kant said to Tygris. "Since then, we have strictly prohibited anyone from perusing this book."
"...Book of Chaos," Tygris lowered his head, gazing at the book. "No wonder."
"This book contains forbidden knowledge and secrets, revealing the world's truth," Tygris looked down at the book, seemingly pondering something, then reached out to turn the pages: "The contents of the Book of Chaos change daily. Let me see what Egrem might have seen, why he became corrupted."
A hand stretched from the side and gripped the Supreme Grandmaster's wrist: "Let me do it, I am not afraid of it."
Tygris hesitated for a moment, then motioned everyone to step back, before the Supreme Grandmaster recited a spell, enveloping everyone in a powerful Magic Shield: "Be careful."
Laine slowly opened the book, its text written in High Gothic Language.
He softly read aloud: "A bloody era, a dark age, ye mediocre beings, mere toys in the hands of the gods." π§ππππΈπ¦π£πππ·ππ.π€π°π
"In the savage lands, a green evil tide sweeps across everywhere."
"In the darkness, the Master of the Undead is plotting his return."
"At the heart of the Old World, Carl Franz, Emperor of the Empire, must turn the tide from collapse, proving himself as the true heir of Charlemagne."
"The Dwarves' resurgence is only a silhouette of past glory."
"But the world's fate is already determined; in the end, the most revered Divine Chosen Champion will be dispatched to the Mortal World, Aizhen, the Eternal Divine Chosen, has already acquired five of the six Chaos Supreme Treasures, his next stop... "
Laine attempted to read further, but the text on the book suddenly became blurred and unclear. Those letters gradually transformed into slime filled with Chaos Corruption, adhering to Laine's fingers. Then, the Divine Chosen Champion of the Lake Fairy noticed dozens of gray threads from the book tightly binding his hands, with terrifying Chaos Corruption trying to use this as a medium to invade his body!
"What is this?!"
