The Mastiff hopped over to me with part of Kaito’s spine hanging in her mouth.

She looked up at me happily, her tail wagging behind her and clearly asking for pats.

"Good girl~" I praised her, patting her on the head and making her let out a cute whine.

I took a moment to inspect the aftermath of the dog’s handiwork, marvelling at how she had basically torn everyone here to shreds without much effort.

If I wasn’t convinced that dogs like her were really dangerous creatures in this universe before, this would have done so.

But well... I would have also just as quickly forgotten about it given the fact that said ’dangerous creature’ was letting me pat her head while wagging its tail at me right now.

So cute~

"Tera?" Amber’s voice came from my Codex.

"Ah, I’m here. Did you get anything?"

"Well... I think that guy raised the alarm because the guards outside are running into the building right now. They’re probably headed your way."

As though on cue, I heard the elevator that led to this floor let out a ’ding’ sound before the doors started to slide open.

The Mastiff in front of me immediately dropped the spine she was holding and spun towards the elevator, the dog standing protectively in front of me.

There was no need to hesitate for this as I quickly pointed at the elevator doors, "Go girl! Go girl!"

She let out a happy bark before she leapt towards the elevator in an instant.

One of the armoured guards barely had time to step out of the lift before a giant dog appeared in front of him and pounced on top of him, pushing him down onto the ground.

The dog let out a howl before slashing her paw at the guy, ripping open his throat and slashing through the armour like it wasn’t there.

"What the fuck?!!"

"What is that thing?!!"

"He got Kenny!!"

"Fucking shoot it!!"

The dog didn’t hesitate and leapt into the enclosed space of the elevator right as someone fired a shot at where it had been just a moment ago.

The Mastiff tore open the throats of two more guys before leaping up at the wall of the elevator, using it as a springboard to jump at the guards at the back of the killbox.

She bit down on the head of another guy and quite literally crushed his head between her jaws, popping it like a balloon and splashing the walls of the elevator with blood.

The few remaining guards tried to escape out of the elevator but the last guy wasn’t fast enough as the dog bit him by the leg, causing him to fall over onto the ground.

The guard reached out his hand towards his colleagues but before any of them could even try to save him, he was dragged back into the elevator and his screams filled the air before it was abruptly cut off.

I watched from where I was in amusement as the guards completely failed to notice me in favour of concentrating their gaze at the elevator, all of them lifting up their guns in preparation to shoot at it the moment the dog appeared again.

I decided to help out a little and called out to the guards, "Hey!! Above you!!"

A few of them turned to look at me to see who was behind them but the rest actually ended up looking up instead.

The Mastiff did not waste that opportunity as it leapt out of the elevator and pounced into the crowd of guards in a single leap, bowling them over and throwing their formation into disarray.

She slashed open the chest of three of the guards in a single swipe before biting out the throat of a fourth guard.

There were only two of them left and the dog jumped up to kick her hind legs against the chest of one of them, the impact sending the guy flying back to smash into the wall and leaving a crack on it.

I also noticed that the kick had left two indents in the armour and I had no doubt that the poor guy’s lungs had probably been smashed from the kick as well.

The other guard did not fare any better either as the Mastiff launched herself towards him using that kick and bit down on the rifle he was holding, snapping it into half.

To that guy’s credit, he quickly took a step back and pulled out a knife from his belt before settling into a stance without panicking.

Unfortunately for him, that was just about as useful as pulling out a toothpick against a dinosaur because the dog simply slashed her paw at the knife and the blade immediately broke off when her claw came into contact with it.

The guard definitely did not expect that to happen as he looked down at his broken knife for a good long second before the Mastiff finished him off with a bite to his throat.

He collapsed onto his knees, his hands scratching at his throat and gurgling out his final words before he fell on his face, blood already pooling out around him.

Once again, the dog came up to me and wagged her tail happily, prompting me to give her another head pat.

So cute~

Well, we can’t stay here now since there’s guards coming up here... Oh wait. I got an idea. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

I went over and directed the dog to pull one of the corpses to wedge it in between the doors of the lift so that it could not be used.

I then went ahead to call up Yuki and the CEO appeared on my screen after a moment.

"Is there a problem?" She asked, getting straight to the point.

I went ahead to show her the corpse of Kaito with the back of his neck torn open and missing a portion of his spine.

She nodded, "I expected nothing less. I assume you have the entire building’s worth of guards after you right now?"

"That’s right," I confirmed with a nod. "I’m now in his office and I’ve managed to disable the only elevator leading here for now."

She thought about it for a moment before speaking again, "Are you also stuck up there or do you have a way out of there?"

"I can leave if I want to."

"In that case, I have an idea. The dog is still there, yes?"

I tilted the camera down to show my patting the dog that was sitting beside me and wagging her tail happily.

She nodded in acknowledgement, "Leave the dog there and meet up with me outside the building. I’ll send you the location later."

"What do you have in mind?"

"I’ll let them know about their dog problem and the fact that I could help them solve it instead of them being completely helpless about it. Then I’ll bring you in and we’ll get the dog out and then expose that bastard for endangering the entire station."

"And how are you going to convince them that you knew about their dog problem without exposing the fact that you are the mastermind?"

"That’s easy. I can just tell them that my dogs were the ones that sensed it and brought me here."

I raised an eyebrow, "Would they even buy an obvious lie like that? Surely they wouldn’t be that stupid, right?"

"They wouldn’t even know what my dogs are capable of and what they are not. They would not question it."

Well... I guess given the reputation of dogs in this universe, I guess they would just believe any crazy things you say about the dogs.

When you know that this creature could rip apart power armour with its teeth and even crush tanks like they were made of tofu... Being able to sense another dog nearby was probably the least impressive thing on the list.

"Fair enough. I’ll meet you outside then."

I hung up the call and gave the dog a few more scratches before raising up my finger, "Stay here ok? I’ll be back in a bit."

The dog let out a happy bark and I walked away from it.

I looked back to make sure that she obeyed and sure enough, she stayed right where she was.

When she saw me looking back, her tail started wagging again.

Ugh... I had to use all of my willpower not to just run back and start patting the dog again...

She’s so cute and fluffy!

Don’t worry! I’ll be back, girl! Just wait right there, ok?

I went over to the wall and got Renata to do the same trick and melted my way through it.

Once again, I checked behind and the dog wagged her tail again when she saw me looking, her jaw opening up to start panting cutely.

Ughh!! Why does she have to be so cute?!

That settles it! I’m definitely taking this dog with me once this is done!
