Will the Aloof Billionaire Divorce Today?
Chapter 1039: With Me Here, There’s Nothing to Fear
"No way!" Ian Douglas hardened his face, his fox-like narrow eyes squinting as he said coldly, "How can we turn a blind eye to this? Are you suggesting I accept that Yates girl? Matthew’s status is noble and should find someone of equivalent standing. Even if it’s not the Simmons girl, it shouldn’t be Scarlett Yates. This girl’s roots are problematic. She’s already bewitched Matthew into doing so many absurd things, and won’t it get even worse in the future?"
Uncle Spencer frowned and reminded, "But the Young Master is engaged to her, and they’re mutually in love. Sir, are you really going to break them up? It wouldn’t matter much otherwise, but I’m just worried it might affect your relationship with the Young Master."
Ian Douglas snorted indifferently, "She’s just a woman, would Matthew really give up on me, his own grandfather, for her? An engagement set casually in childhood, without any written agreement, how can it be taken seriously?"
In a few words, he made a decision: "When we reach Z City, privately find out about some families of good standing and identify the unmarried, eligible ones. I want to see each of them. From there, I’ll select a few outstanding ones for Matthew and arrange meetings."
"I’m most satisfied with the Simmons girl. Whether in background, appearance, or character, she’s a good match for Matthew. It’s a pity... that girl actually claimed she loves someone else and insists on marrying that man." Ian Douglas frowned, sighed regretfully, "The Simmons girl is hopeless, so we have to settle for something less."
"Sir, the Young Master will not accept your arrangements," Uncle Spencer said, not to dampen his master’s spirits, but knowing the Young Master wouldn’t obediently go on blind dates.
As he’s already set the wedding date, it shows he truly intends to marry the Yates girl, and for him to willingly marry her means his affection has reached an extreme level.
In such a situation, if our master forcefully separates them, the result will only backfire.
"I know how to handle this matter. Just act according to my instructions." Ian Douglas’s tone was firm, leaving no room for negotiation.
After a few seconds of silence, Uncle Spencer could only nod and say, "Yes, sir."
A few minutes later, the plane that had landed on the runway at Z City Airport stopped taxiing, and the cabin broadcasted the sweet voice of a flight attendant: "Dear passengers, the plane has landed safely..."
--
Outside the VIP corridor of the airport.
Perhaps sensing Scarlett’s tension, Matthew Saxon held her hand, keeping it tightly in his palm.
"I’m here, there’s nothing to fear." He turned to her, soothing her in a low voice, and reached out to rub her head, "No matter how fierce grandfather is, he’s not a tiger and won’t eat people. If he really were to eat someone, I’d stand in front of you."
Scarlett Yates chuckled, and with his words, she didn’t feel as tense anymore. She took a deep breath, nodded, and joked, "He’s not a tiger. If he were, I wouldn’t be so afraid of him."
"Oh, then what is he?"
Scarlett thought for a moment and said, "A fox. Though not as terrifying as a beast to look at, the fox’s deceitfulness, when it’s sneaky, is much scarier than a beast."
"The ferocity of a tiger can be seen, but the ferocity of a fox is hidden in the shadows. Compared to the former, the latter is much harder to deal with."
