Will the Aloof Billionaire Divorce Today?
Chapter 1068: Disappearing Without a Word
He turned his head and glared viciously at Vincent Reed beside him, coldly saying, "Shut up."
Vincent Reed got shouted at but still wore a cheeky smile, thick-skinned as ever: "Matthew, you can be a hundred percent sure, I guarantee little sis-in-law is fine. Caring too much leads to panic; you just care too much about her, that’s why you’re so worried."
Matthew Saxon shot him a sharp glance: "You guarantee? With what? Vincent Reed, if she comes to any harm, I’ll throw you into the crocodile pit at the Saxon Family’s backyard."
Crocodile pit?
Vincent’s face instantly went pale, his neck shrank back, not daring to say anything further.
He’d seen that crocodile pit at the Saxon Family once.
Ugh, just that once, remembering it now still makes him shudder.
Those crocodiles may be domesticated, but they’re not at all tame. If anything living falls in, it would be torn to pieces instantly.
"Matthew, look, isn’t that little sis-in-law?"
Allan Simmons was the first to spot Scarlett Yates, seeing her safe and sound standing there, he couldn’t help but let out a breath of relief.
Thankfully, thankfully, she seems to be fine, otherwise, tonight Darknight City would be turned upside down, peace nowhere to be found.
"Really is little sis-in-law. Matthew, see, I told you she couldn’t possibly run into trouble." Vincent also saw Scarlett, like Allan, secretly sighed in relief.
If Scarlett really got into trouble, not only would Darknight City suffer, but the three of them wouldn’t escape blame either.
Matthew Saxon saw Scarlett Yates and immediately walked over.
He walked quickly, almost jogging, reaching her within seconds.
Just a moment ago, he was clearly worried to death, but once in front of Scarlett, he lowered his face, eyes showing a hint of anger, asking irritably, "Scarlett Yates, where did you run off to? Not even a heads up, just vanished silently, do you think this is funny?"
He kept a stern face, voice cold, tone not so pleasant, seeming quite angry, but his slender eyes kept scanning her from head to toe, then from toe to head again.
His eyes obviously held anxiety and worry, and only after confirming she was unhurt did his tightly knit brows begin to relax.
Probably after confirming she wasn’t in danger did his expression improve slightly.
"I... I just wandered around a bit after coming back, got lost as I walked. This place is really too big, it’s like a maze." Scarlett gave the reason she’d prepared in advance, and during the explanation, she didn’t dare make eye contact with Matthew Saxon.
No matter what, she couldn’t let Matthew know she was with Maxwell Saxon.
Even more so couldn’t let him know she was almost forcibly taken by Maxwell.
If Matthew were to find out, she couldn’t imagine what would happen.
Scarlett could see that Matthew was very worried about her. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
So as she lied to him, Scarlett felt very guilty.
He’s so worried about her, yet she deceives him; she felt terribly wrong for doing so.
Matthew furrowed his brows: "Got lost?"
Scarlett nodded stiffly, voice as soft as a mosquito’s buzz: "Mm, got lost."
When he couldn’t find her, Matthew was worried sick, terrified she might encounter danger. Now seeing her standing safely right before him, not a strand of hair missing, he was just grateful she was secure, not giving much thought to her clumsy excuse.
