Chasing His Ex: The Tycoon's Hidden Twins
Chapter 128 - 125: I’m Not Close with My Brother-in-Law
The next morning.
Jiang Silu clearly felt a bit more energetic.
She had to admit, staying in the VIP ward was so quiet.
There was hardly any noise at all.
Jiang Silu had been to the inpatient department once before when Jiang Yixia was sick.
Even though it had been late at night, the regular wards were incredibly noisy.
It was on a completely different level from the VIP ward.
She turned her head to look at Lu Fan in the other bed.
He was still sound asleep.
Watching him sleep, Jiang Silu thought that not only was he cool in his daily life, but he was even handsome while sleeping.
She could now see why her mother would rather stay single for so many years than find someone new.
’My own dad is seriously handsome!’
Just as Jiang Silu was marveling at this, Lu Fan woke up.
He looked at Jiang Silu and said, "How are you today? Feeling any better?"
"Much better," Jiang Silu apologized awkwardly. "I’m so sorry for making you sleep here all night."
"It’s no trouble at all." Lu Fan smiled. "I’m not a picky person. I actually found this bed quite comfortable."
He then said, "Well, I’ll ask the doctor and see if you need to stay another day."
Jiang Silu quickly said, "No, that’s okay. I feel much better. I should be fine if I just go home and take some medicine."
"You can’t be careless when you’re sick. I have to ask the doctor." With that, Lu Fan made a call to the vice dean.
Before long, the vice dean arrived with the department director.
Jiang Silu saw how Lu Fan could summon the vice dean and the director with a single phone call. It was easy to imagine just how much influence he had.
’So when a person is obscenely wealthy, they can have this many connections?’
This was a huge shock to the young Jiang Silu.
"Young lady, are you feeling a bit better today?" the director asked.
"Yes, a little better, but my throat is very sore," Jiang Silu replied.
The director nodded. "That’s very normal. Drink plenty of water when you get home. Your temperature has already dropped a bit, so you shouldn’t get a high fever like yesterday again. Go home and get lots of rest."
After giving his instructions, he turned to Lu Fan. "President Lu, just have your daughter get plenty of rest and take her medicine on time. The fever shouldn’t get that severe again. After all, it takes five or six days to recover from the flu."
Lu Fan understood, of course. He nodded and thanked them, "Thank you for your hard work, Director. Thank you, Dean."
"President Lu, you’re too kind," Dean Jin replied.
"In that case, don’t go back to school just yet. You should stay at Dad’s hotel. If you want anything, just have the butler bring it to you," Lu Fan suggested.
Seeing no other choice, Jiang Silu had to agree.
After all, given her current condition, she most likely wouldn’t be able to attend class if she went back to school.
And if she stayed in the dorm, she might end up infecting Song Miaomiao and the others.
Besides, Jiang Silu no longer felt the same unease about staying at the hotel as she did before.
On the way to the hotel, Lu Fan said to Jiang Silu, "By the way, what do you want to eat today? Dad will make it for you."
"No, no, it’s fine! I can’t take up so much of your time because of me," Jiang Silu said awkwardly.
"It’s no problem. I think I might actually be quite talented at cooking. It’s pretty fun," Lu Fan said with a laugh.
Hearing this, Jiang Silu praised him shyly, "I think you really are amazing. Whether it’s your knowledge, your business skills, or your cooking. You’re better than the average person."
"Haha, if anyone else praised me like that, I’d think it was only natural. But hearing my daughter praise me makes me really happy," Lu Fan chuckled.
Before long, the car arrived at the hotel.
Before getting out, Lu Fan mentioned, "How about I make you some Kung Pao Chicken? Then I can try making some other dishes."
"Okay!" Jiang Silu was instantly excited, but a second later she asked shyly, "Is... is that okay?"
"Of course, it is. As long as it’s what you want to eat, I’ll definitely make it."
Then he waved and said goodbye to Jiang Silu. "I’ll go home and cook then. I’ll bring it to you in a bit."
"Okay~ Be careful with the knife," Jiang Silu reminded him.
"Don’t worry, your dad is very talented."
With that, Lu Fan left.
Watching the car drive away, Jiang Silu began to look forward to the Kung Pao Chicken her dad was going to make.
「Meanwhile.」
Jiang Yixia opened her shop right on time, just like any other day.
Only this time, as she opened the door, she glanced at the pastry shop across the street.
She noticed that only the usual pastry chef was inside the opposite shop.
That familiar, annoying guy was nowhere to be seen.
At first, Jiang Yixia didn’t think much of it. ’That guy is probably taking care of his daughter,’ she thought. Besides, she didn’t want Lu Fan showing up in front of her anyway.
But when she saw the photo Jiang Silu sent her of the delicious-looking Sweet and Sour Pork and Scrambled Eggs with Tomato, she couldn’t help but complain, "We were together for so long, and he never once cooked a single dish for me."
But she quickly rationalized it. She would never forgive that guy anyway. Even if he really did try to cook for her, she wouldn’t eat it.
Her daughter was kind-hearted; she might actually forgive Lu Fan. If that happened, that bastard would probably put more effort into their daughter.
"In any case, I will never forgive you," Jiang Yixia said angrily.
Then, she opened her WeChat chat with Jiang Ming and asked, [Jiang Ming, is that matter of yours resolved?]
Jiang Yixia was still worried that the incident with her brother hitting a student would have lingering consequences, so she was keeping a close eye on the situation.
At that moment, Jiang Ming had just finished a PE class.
As it happened, it was Huang Minghao’s class.
The girl who had been bullied by Huang Minghao approached Jiang Ming after class to thank him. "Teacher Jiang, thank you."
"Silly girl, what are you thanking me for? Isn’t it normal for a teacher to help a student?" Jiang Ming said cheerfully.
The girl shook her head. "It’s not, actually. Huang Minghao used to bully people all the time, not just me but other girls too. We told our homeroom teacher before, but she would just scold him a bit and then nothing would happen. We didn’t dare tell our parents either. I heard from some of the boys that Huang Minghao’s family is very rich, so we just had to endure it."
"If it weren’t for you this time, Teacher Jiang, Huang Minghao would probably still be bullying me every few days."
The girl’s words deeply moved Jiang Ming.
’Damn it. If I’d known, I would have slapped that punk a couple more times.’
Jiang Ming then asked, "So, is Huang Minghao still suspended?"
"He came back to school two days ago. I saw he was all black and blue. He’s been really well-behaved since he got back and hasn’t bullied us anymore," the girl replied.
Jiang Ming was a little puzzled. "Then why haven’t I seen him?"
"Because he’s afraid to attend your class. The homeroom teacher said his PE classes are suspended for the semester," the girl explained.
"Good. As long as he’s not bullying you guys, that’s all that matters." Jiang Ming didn’t really care whether that kid attended his PE class or not.
He could attend or not, it was all the same to him.
He had no desire to deal with such an ill-mannered student anyway.
Just as he finished class and was about to head back to his office...
The dean of students was waiting for him at the office door.
When he saw Jiang Ming, he immediately beamed. "Teacher Jiang, just finished class?"
The moment Jiang Ming saw his expression, he knew the man was up to no good.
So he feigned curiosity and asked, "What’s the matter, Dean?"
"Well, Huang Minghao’s parents said they want to have a private chat with you."
Hearing this, Jiang Ming frowned immediately. "Didn’t we already clear things up last time? Why do they want to talk to me again?"
"Don’t worry, they’re not here to cause trouble. It’s mainly..." The dean seemed helpless for a moment. He glanced around before whispering, "Huang Minghao’s parents told me that your brother-in-law had his branch company terminate their business dealings."
"If it’s terminated, there’s nothing I can do." Although Jiang Ming put on a troubled expression, he was secretly gloating.
He hadn’t expected Lu Fan to be so tough.
He actually had his branch company cut off cooperation with Father Minghao’s company.
This really let Jiang Ming vent his pent-up frustration.
But the dean of students sighed. "He’s your brother-in-law, after all. If you put in a good word for them, maybe he’ll change his mind."
"Dean, you know what kind of people they are. I have no reason to put in a good word for them."
"Their family..." The dean of students seemed to have something he couldn’t say. He finally shook his head. "How about this? They’re in my office right now. Teacher Jiang, why don’t you go have a chat?"
Jiang Ming originally wanted to refuse.
But seeing the dean’s desperate expression, he had no choice but to agree.
He then followed the dean of students to the office.
The moment Father Minghao saw Jiang Ming, he immediately came forward with a smile. "Teacher Jiang, we meet again."
Huang Minghao’s mother also shed her previous arrogant and unreasonable attitude, smiling obsequiously. "Hello, Teacher Jiang."
Jiang Ming thought, ’Well, well, look at them now. They’ve finally learned some humility.’
’Sure enough, in the face of absolute power, everything else is just for show.’
’Then again, I really have my brother-in-law to thank for this couple being so humble in front of me.’
’Pah! What brother-in-law?!’
’Even though he helped me, he still hasn’t been forgiven by my sister.’
’He’s not my brother-in-law.’
’At most, he’s a former brother-in-law.’
It wasn’t just Huang Minghao’s parents in the office; Huang Minghao was there too.
When Huang Minghao saw Jiang Ming, he even backed away in fear.
Jiang Ming saw his bruised and swollen face. It looked like he’d gotten a tag-team beating from his parents.
So he feigned ignorance and asked, "Father Minghao, Mother Minghao, what can I do for you? Are you here to get Minghao back into PE class? No problem."
"No, that’s not it." Father Minghao first apologized with an embarrassed look. "About my son harassing his female classmate before... I lost my temper with you without understanding the full story. The more I thought about it after I got home, the guiltier I felt, so I specially brought my son here today to apologize to you."
"Yes, we came specifically to apologize," Minghao’s mother added. "After all, respecting one’s teachers is a traditional virtue. This son of mine is just too naughty, so as you can see, Teacher, we’ve disciplined him."
"If that’s the case, then that’s good." Jiang Ming didn’t give them much face. "After all, only when parents have the right attitude will their children learn by example. Otherwise, it’s a case of a bad example being set from the top."
Hearing this, the couple looked at each other, a bit awkwardly.
They knew, of course, that Jiang Ming was dissing them, but since they were the ones asking for a favor, they had no choice but to swallow their pride and say, "Yes, Teacher Jiang is right to educate us."
"In that case, is there anything else? I have another class soon, so I’ll be leaving," Jiang Ming said, making an excuse to leave.
"Teacher Jiang, there is one more thing," Father Minghao stammered. "It’s like this... as you know, I had a partnership with your brother-in-law’s branch company."
"But for some reason, a couple of days ago, the branch company sent someone to tell me the partnership was canceled. I’ve been working on this collaboration for two or three months, and this business is quite important to my family’s company."
"I’ve taken the liberty of guessing that this incident with my son must have angered your brother-in-law. So, how about this? I’ll have my worthless son kneel and apologize to you, and then maybe you can put in a good word for us with your brother-in-law."
After speaking, he looked at Huang Minghao and said, "Kneel!"
At first, Huang Minghao didn’t react and didn’t kneel.
Father Minghao then kicked him in the back of the knees, forcing him to kneel on both legs.
Seeing this, Minghao’s mother, who was standing to the side, was heartbroken.
She could only comfort herself inwardly: ’Son, just bear with it. For the sake of our family’s business, we have no choice but to put you through this.’
Father Minghao had assumed that by staging this drama, he was giving Jiang Ming a gracious way out, and that he would, in turn, offer some kind words.
After all, teachers, for the most part, have a soft spot for children.
But to his surprise, Jiang Ming replied calmly, "I’m sorry, Father Minghao, but that’s a favor I can’t help you with."
"Why not?" Father Minghao asked, shocked.
"Because I don’t know my brother-in-law well. We’ve only met twice."
At these words, not only were the Huang couple stunned, but even the dean of students was dumbfounded.
A man and his brother-in-law... don’t know each other well?
