Adrian saw Susie walking towards them while giving Bandi a venomous gaze.

" Hi, I’m Bandi nice to meet you." She greeted with a smile and extended her hand for a shake.

Suzie just gave her a glance before turning her attention towards Adrian. " Forgive me for being blunt my lord but why are you on her lap?"

" She’s teaching me how to drive." Adrian answered.

Suzie looked confused, " Why? You have people to drive for you."

Adrian shrugged, " Yeah but I want to learn how to drive myself."

Bandi started laughing, " I’m not sure if that’s possible, he really sucks." She continued laughing and the temperature dropped.

" Suzie, control yourself." He warned her in a cold voice and her killing intent disappeared into thin air.

He stood up, " Well Bandi, it was nice to meet you." He leaned closer and whispered in her ear.

Her eyes went black and she whispered back to him. He left with Suzie afterwards, leaving a confused Bandi.

He realised the sun was about to set, he has been playing for hours without even realising.

" Go home, I’m going to check on somebody." Suzie nodded and left, she knew where he was going.

Adrian walked slowly until he arrived near a school gate, he sniffed the air then walked in another direction.

’ Wait, why am I wasting my time.’ he tracked Athi and Suki instead of rather, they just told him their locations through pack call.

He arrived on the roof of a three story building, below them the streets were bustling with people.

This was a commercial area and it was usually crowded, he ignored all of them, his eyes were focused on just one.

" You’re relieved of your duty temporarily." He told the two werewolves who immediately ran off.

Adrian smiled, he knew he had been unfair of them, they’ve been guarding Annie without any rest.

H jumped down to an alley and leaned his back against the wall and waited. He could smell her coming his way.

Suddenly he caught another scent, " Hey Annie, you look beautiful." He heard the voice say.

" Thank you." She replied, Adrian peaked and saw the guy called Cyril in a fancy suit hugging Annie.

She hugged him back with a smile, Adrian felt a pang in his heart like he had been stabbed.

He turned around and walked off, he didn’t see Annie looking his way with confusion in her eyes.

" Are you okay?" Cyril asked. She looked at him and forced a smile.

" Yeah, I just thought... nevermind it’s nothing." She got in the car and they left but the entire way everything felt wrong.

She looked at Cyril next to her but felt nothing, she had agreed to the date because she admired his perseverance.

This guy has been hitting on her for a long time and she couldn’t bring herself to hurting him.

He was a good guy, he was kind and put a lot of effort into her, this should’ve softened her heart.

Unfortunately the heart desires what the heart desires and hers desired Adrian, she wasn’t even sure he was alive.

Yet she had a feeling he was there, around her watching her.

" So what do you think?" Cyril asked.

" Huh? I’m sorry I didn’t catch that." She forced another smile.

Cyril smiled back, " No, it’s nothing serious.." after that he was quiet.

They sat in silence and ate their food, their date turned awkward and she felt guilty about it.

Cyril drove her home but he didn’t talk much the entire drive. Annie could tell he was hurt and that made her feel worse.

" Cyril listen, I’m sorry about tonight I was not in my right headspace. I was really looking forward to.."

He raised his hand and stopped her, " Annie please, you don’t have to apologise, I had a good time."

He forced a smile and turned around and walked off. He didn’t even try to hug her which hurt a little bit.

She sighed and went to her house, her mother tried to ask how the date was but she ignored her and went to her room.

----------------------

Adrian went back home, Suzie and the others tried to speak to him but he also ignored them.

" I guess things didn’t go as well." Sam whispered to the others but Adrian heard him.

He went to his room to sleep. At the same time, two people in dark robes entered the city.

They went west of the city moving as fast as shadows. They stood outside a large beautiful house.

" Should we attack, we can use this human as a hostage." One asked. The other one shook their heads.

" No, we were ordered to wait and watch, we must find something more useful and less risky to use against them." They both disappeared like shadows under the night sky.

-----------------------------

In the following days, Adrian spent his time watering the seeds with his blood and checking on Annie.

He wasn’t stalking her, he was just making sure she was fine and she was not. He didn’t know what had happened on that date but it didn’t seem to have gone well.

Athi and Suki were still taking their break from being her protectors for now and Adrian had no intentions of having anybody else do that job.

One day while he was watching her he heard her make a call. The conversation made her frown then he sighed.

Night came and he continued following her and saw her meeting up with Cyril. They drove to a restaurant for another date.

Annie had organised this date herself to make up for the last one. She looked happy as if she had accepted something.

Adrian sighed, he felt sad yet he found a smile on his face. ’ This is for the best.’ he told himself.

Adrian finally accepted that he wasn’t good for her, his life was fraught with danger, being with him would only hurt her.

He knew it was unfair to make that decision by himself but he knew Annie, he knew she wouldn’t care about that danger and that terrified him.

Something changed within him, something he has been trying to accept finally awakened.

His eyes grew colder and devoid of any warmth. He was about to leave when he caught a familiar scent.

He looked in that direction and saw a bat taking to the sky then disappeared in a puff of smoke.

On the ground were two men in dark robes, his eyes turned even colder but since he was wearing his tail fox.

Those two didn’t see him or feel his killing intent. Adrian appeared behind them and ripped out their hearts from behind.

By the time they noticed his presence it was already too late. He closed his eyes, ’ Athi, Suki, return to work.’
