Demon Slayer: Rise of The First Werewolf
Chapter 123: The King Moves
Dalaway shouted but it was too late, Adrian shattered the barrier like fragile glass. Having their ability broken like this rebounded on them.
Most staggered but some ended up coughing blood. They looked at Adrian with nothing but terror.
They expected him to attack and immediately forgot about any formation, the vampire society encouraged selfishness.
No vampire would risk their lives for others, that showed here. They scurried to defend themselves forgetting about their allies.
Instead of attacking, Adrian conjured a throne of lunar energy. This throne was also a weapon.
As long as he was in the throne, his voice would carry a strong authority increasing the power of his compulsion to absurd levels.
It was a relatively new ability, even the other werewolves were seeing it for the first time.
His actions confused the vampires, " Attack!" One of them shouted before Dalaway could stop them.
The vampires roared and lunged at him, the nobles retreated and uses their blood control ability to attack.
Adrian did not bother even moving, Suzie appeared next to him and conjured a dome shield of energy.
The plebian vampires couldn’t even leave a mark on the barrier but the attacks of the barons were different.
Her barrier started cracking, she frowned and she was about to take her true form when a large back appeared in front of her.
John conjured his shield and blocked the attacks. He merely took a single step back after blocking multiple blood attacks.
The vampire’s faces turned grim when he appeared. The other Gemma werewolves appeared from different directions.
Sam rubbed the back of his heard and yawned. " Can I sit this one out" he asked Adrian.
Adrian just gave him a single glance like he had just said something crazy. Sam sighed, " Fine, let make it quick."
Silver light appeared on his feet like boots and he conjured a beautiful silver sword. " Don’t resist, I don’t want to spend a lot of time here."
The disregard in his voice made the vampires grit their teeth in anger. Almost all of them were level 2.
Yet he, a mere level 1 Fayera dared to insult them, they no longer cared about his ranking, they were going to kill him.
They roared and lunged at him like a flood. He watched them jumping through the air with their claws and fangs brandished.
The world slowed down to him and he stomped the ground once. It cracked beneath his foot.
Then he moved, the closest vampires saw a blur and the next second two heads flew through the air.
Before they could register what had just happened he was already to their left, he killed four more in quick succession.
Finally the baron vampires reacted, blood bullets shot at him like a gatling gun but he was already gone by then.
The blood bullets pierced holes dozens of metres deep into the ground. Sam knew he had to deal with them first.
Fortunately they were all barons, even though they rivalled Gemma werewolves of level 1 in strength.
They couldn’t match his speed, unlike werewolves, the abilities of noble vampires were pretty much the same.
He wasn’t afraid of one of them having a speed enhancement ability, even if they’re faster than other vampires.
It shouldn’t be enough to match his own speed, unfortunately he has underestimated baron vampires.
Suddenly two appeared from his left and right while another pointed a finger at him, blood bullets formed in front of him.
’ Damnit, dodging this will not be easy.’ he chose the one on his right and attacked him first.
The vampire reacted and used a blood sword to block his, he conjured a second blood sword forcing Sam to retreat.
Two more Werewolves chased after him, they conjured chains of blood and bound his body.
He struggled to escape, he broke the chains and tried to retreat but a wall of blood appeared behind him.
Sharp blood spikes grew on that wall and tried to impale him. Sam gritted his teeth and kicked.
The wall of blood shattered but his foot was pierced through and left bleeding, he ignored the pain and continued retreating.
’ Damnit, they’re better than I thought, better not underestimating them.’ he realised he couldn’t deal with them, not by himself.
Unfortunately for him, before he could retreat far, seven plebian vampires appeared around him.
In their hands were chains of pure silver with runes drawn all over them. The chains lashed out like snakes.
Sam saw them coming and immediately knew he couldn’t allow them to touch him, disregarding how he will be effected.
If he suddenly gets weaker after being bound by the chains, the vampires might notice something wrong.
He couldn’t allow a weakness as glaring as this to be noticed by his enemies. With his speed, he was able to dodge them.
He took that opportunity and killed two plebians closest to him then retreated towards Adrian.
The other Werewolves were facing the same situation. The vampire attacks were too coordinated.
Some were unable to dodge those chains forcing Suzie to take action and attack the vampires carrying the chains.
She took had realised the same thing as Sam and made sure that weakness remains a secret.
Suzie didn’t rule out the possibility of the vampires guessing something based on her reaction.
However in that case, it would still remain a suspicion, they might even formulate ideas that deviated from the actual truth.
The vampires also retreated, behind them stood an older looking vampire, he was directing them into different squads.
Each squad had multiple barons and dozens of plebians, no matter how strong the werewolves were.
They couldn’t deal with so many at once, " Perhaps if we work together..." Louis suggested but Suzie shook her head.
" It won’t matter, their coordination while not perfect is good enough to overwhelm us with large numbers.
It would be easier if we were just facing plebians but the barons are on the same strength category as us.
Until we break through to level 2 ourselves, we’re not winning this battle." She told them making the other werewolves dejected.
" So what should we do? Run?" Melissa asked sounding uncomfortable. Adrian suddenly stood up from his throne.
His hair grew longer and turned silver, his eyes turned into silver orbs that glowed in the darkness of the night.
" I’ll deal with it."
