Chapter 391: We Can’t Give Up

Their home had been turned into a "house of nightmares." Onlookers had gathered but police were there and they had already barricaded the area, keeping the nosy neighbours at bay. People were whispering, some were shaking their heads that tragedy had befallen the house again. Some labelled it as cursed.

Silver entered through the broken-in door and took in the carnage that had taken place there. Blood splattered the walls, dead bodies, broken furniture, torn-down curtains, dismembered limbs and gooey insides of vampires and other species, covered the entirety of the living room.

The stench was putrid and intense and it was going to take a lot of effort to remove it.

It was a horrific site and although Silver was used to it, the tension gripped him thinking how Yurian and Aselia had to fight so many monsters alone and face Phantom.

Silver scanned the area for any clues they might have left behind but he found nothing. He inspected Yurian and Aselia’s rooms as well but they were untouched. It seemed like no intruder had entered them, everything had taken place in the living room. And they only took what they came for; White Falcon.

Silver knew she was strong but with Phantom’s history with elves, it almost made his knees buckle to think what he would do to her. He still remembered Agent 93’s girl and the condition they had found her in.

He shook the thoughts from his mind and concentrated on the task at hand, he needed to trust Xiran, he will save her.

Silver then announced that he had taken over the Lahoire Base in the absence of White Falcon and issued orders for the clean-up process of their house. He didn’t want Yurian’s parents to walk into another massacre.

Hunters quickly got to work but he could see how shaken they were. The hunter named Foxi was occasionally crying and being the only female among the bunch, she had grown close to Aselia.

She silently approached him with puffy eyes and hesitated before asking:

"Sir! Do we know who attacked and where they took White Falcon?"

"We do but it’s kept confidential. We don’t want the false news to spread so until we have substantial evidence, we will keep it under wraps. It’s not known where they have taken her but we are looking. We will find her, don’t worry," she nodded at his answer with tearful eyes and got back to work.

Silver stood outside the house and waited while surveying the area. There was a river flowing right across the street and it had trees and flowery bushes on its bank. It was an easy cover for someone to spy from there and intuitively his legs carried him across the street.

A very faint smell of something still lingered there as he deeply inhaled using his hound senses. Something had been hiding here watching them, he was sure of it. He was still lost in figuring it out when a car screeched to stop outside the barricade.

A haggard-looking couple with a huge white and brown dog exited it and tried to rush towards the house. The woman was crying and the dog was barking loudly with his teeth bare.

Silver glanced in that direction and instantly knew who they were. The man held an uncanny resemblance to Yurian.

Taking long strides he reached them as they talked to police officers to let them through as it was their house.

"I will handle this," he authoritatively told the police officer who instantly stepped aside.

"Sir, Ma’am, I am Yurian’s friend. Please let me take you to someplace where we can talk in peace," he respectfully stated, not wanting them to enter the house.

Razian was barely holding himself together for the sake of his wife, his mouth was nothing but a thin line.

"We want to see our son and daughter. Where are they? What happened?" Esma asked in a trembling voice.

"Come with me," Silver asked and they followed him to his jeep. Silver then ushered Foxi and asked if she could keep Rony there. Aselia sometimes took Rony with her to work so they were familiar with him.

"Be a good boy and stay here till we figure everything out, Rony. You are a big boy now," Silver patted his head and he barked with his sad eyes and looked at Esma and Razian.

"Stay Rony we will be back soon," Razian instructed and he whimpered and let Foxi take him away.

Silver opened the back door of his car so they could climb in. They also took Blue Jay along so he could drive them to the hospital where Yurian was being treated. Silver sat in the passenger seat and they drove off.

"What happened? We left just this morning and everything was normal," Razian, who was trying not to break down, asked in exasperation.

Silver took a deep breath and turned around to face the couple, their eyes holding so many emotions, mostly sadness. There was no easy way to do this and he knew it.

"We don’t know for sure. But your house was attacked sometime around after you left. Vampires and hybrids were behind the attack. Yurian is injured and Leia is missing," Esma sucked in a deep breath at his words and a fresh stream of tears followed. Razian just lowered his head to hide the anguish he was feeling.

"How injured is our son? And you don’t know where our Leia is? Vampires took her? This can’t be happening again, I won’t survive this Razian," Esma’s anguished cries filled the confined space and she began hyperventilating.

"Breathe Esma, breathe," he quickly rubbed her back, guiding her through exhaling and inhaling.

Silver had to close his eyes, this was harder than he had anticipated. He knew they lost their daughter to a vampire attack and it was evident they saw Aselia as one now.

"We have to be strong for the kids, we can’t give up. Rawais and Leia embody strength, we need to be there for them. We can’t give up, can we?" he softly asked his wife, hugging her head close to his chest as she silently cried with her eyes closed.
