Chapter 24: 24. I won’t stoop to your level

"I believe you know what happened here, Shall I also assume you to be the one behind it?" Lazarus asked. The fact that they were accusing him annoyed him beyond limits but he was holding on to the last string of patience not blowing up.

The looked in his eyes and the tone of his voice were the same as that of Darren, they both looked like they were about to tear someone to pieces if anyone dared to do something out of place.

The air surrounding the room turned chilly as Darren and Lazarus stared down at each other. Their eyes have slowly turned pitch black long ago indicating that they were a thread away from shifting into their beasts. The alpha aura that was coming from them was clashing with each other, the room became suffocating.

Their little showdown was able to attract everyone’s attention to them including Lucy and Lucinda who were busy looking at Dana, with interest in their gazes. The moment they saw her, they have been interested in her but were still unable to figure out what they were looking at because Dana did not even spare them a glance. She knew who they were and she did not want to get too close to them. Darren and Lazarus’ show of Dominance was able to make them stop looking at Dana and she was glad for that. At least one good thing came out of this situation.

Raven and Ezra both held Lazarus by his shoulder, holding him back from suddenly attacking Darren. Mateo and Levi did the same to Darren. None of them would want any fight to break out between these two alphas. though Darren was a lycan, Lazarus was the strongest alpha around. His beast was... A beast. Once it was out, it demands respect and whenever he doesn’t get it, it wreaks havoc. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

Lazarus may not be a lycan but he lives up to his name and position as the alpha of the Blood Moon packs. Shifters naturally feared and avoided this pack in the past and most of them still do to date. The stories that are told about the blood bath that took place in this pack have become deeply embedded in the hearts of many that even time could not seem to erase and Lazarus once lived up to that name. He was brutal, especially his beast. He became this tamed when he found his mate. She was able to put a leash on him and get him under control. But that did not mean he could go berserk when challenged.

Every member of his pack knew just what he was capable of doing and they feared him for that. But he was an amazing Alpha who would protect what was his at any cost matterless of what it might be and they respected him for that.

Darren on the other hand, was a lycan who only understands the language of submission and that was something that Lazarus was not going to do, not now, not ever. Darren has even gotten himself cursed by the goddess at a young age because of the things that he had done in the past and now he doesn’t give a damn about anything anymore. He was already cursed so what was the point of holding back when he felt threatened and disrespected? He would kill and get rid of whatever and whoever got in his way and acted disrespectfully.

His beast sort of absolute submission and dominance. It sorted power and that was exactly what it got. How he got it did not matter. All that matters was that he got it.

The lounge has become so suffocating that those who were nearby could feel the hair on their backs rising in fear. At the moment, there were five alphas in the pack house. Three were alphas who came as escorts to the supreme Alpha. One was the supreme Alpha, Darren himself and last but certainly not the least, was Lazarus the alpha of the pack. It was a no-brainer from whom the strong aura was coming.

"Are you accusing me, Alpha Lazarus?" Darren growled and bared his fangs at Lazarus. "Are f*cking accusing me?"

"....."

Lazarus said nothing but his silence was answerable enough. Darren was furious. Dark fur had started appearing on his skin and the shape of his face started changing and stretching almost shifting.

Lazarus was no exception he was also half-shifted, claws out and fangs bared at Darren and his eyes had turned crimson.

"Calm down, alpha," Mateo said, trying to intervene before things get worse than they already were. "We didn’t come to make a fuss, alpha, please calm down."

"Alpha, please calm down. Let’s discuss properly." Levi said as he and Mateo both held his shoulders. Lucy and Lucinda had already started chanting, trying to use magic to calm the angry beasts in the room.

"Keep your damned spells away from me." Lazarus snapped at Lucinda when she turned to face him, his voice was deep and menacing. Dana saw it and snarled at her. Her eyes glowed purple, a colour that had never appeared before.

When Lucinda saw the colour of her eyes, she smirked, knowing that a shifter’s eyes will never turn purple. She just has to push her a little bit more and she will get what she was looking for.

Lazarus felt a different aura from his mate and turned I look at her, he then saw the colour of her eyes. He didn’t know what that was about but he knew he had to calm down to prevent her from doing something that even he might not be able to comprehend. He had his hand wrapped around her waist and closed his eyes. The spark from their bond helped him calm down.

When he opened his eyes again, the rage that was reflected in his eyes was gone, his face was blank with no emotion. He then drew small circles around her waist making her turn to him. The purple colour in her eyes slowly disappeared. She opened her mouth to speak but closed it back wordlessly. Lazarus smiled at her and gave her a curt nod before turning back to face Darren expressionlessly.

"If the reason for your coming was to pick a fight with me, Alpha Darren, I won’t stoop to your level." Raven and Ezra had let go of him seeing how calm he was now. "But if you came to ask who sent an assassin after you, then I say I am not the one who sent him. Why my name was mentioned, I don’t know. I suggest you should go out there and find out who it is. You have many enemies but I am not one of them, you know that."

"What are you saying, Alpha Lazarus? Why would your name be called out if it wasn’t you?" Alpha Hayden of the Black Moon pack asked. He has been quiet the whole time and could not accept Lazarus’ denial. "Who did it if it wasn’t you?"

"It might be you," Raven said, glaring at him. "How are we to know who did it when even the one targeted does not even know?"

"I was talking to your alpha, beta, not you." Alpha Hayden snapped.

"What right do you have to question our alpha?" Ezra asked, also glaring at the man in front of them. "Do you think we would stoop so low as to assassinate someone by hiring a rogue?"

Ezra’s words seemed to hit the right button making them realise that they have jumped to a conclusion a bit too quickly. Lazarus was brutal in his ways but he had integrity. He wouldn’t do something like that. He would rather come at you head-on and challenge you openly.
