I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO
Chapter 812 - 809: My Jealousy Is About to Boil Over (Part 2)
Vera had no idea about the tricks he played beforehand, fearing he might fall, she carefully extended her hand to support his body. His head was resting on her leg, his hand reached to embrace her knee, smiling as he closed his eyes.
Nathan Leafcastle, since you want to play, I’ll accompany you for a good round!
During the entire dinner, ever since Kris Cooper and Vera appeared, Nathan Leafcastle’s video almost constantly focused on Vera and him.
Although he also helped Sally Dalton with a few dishes in between, his gaze lingered more on Vera. Kris Cooper, being a man himself, understood well what the gaze meant.
When looking at him, Nathan Leafcastle’s eyes carried an unmistakable coldness.
Later, he purposely hugged Nathan Leafcastle’s shoulder, the man’s body instantly tensed up like a warrior on the battlefield.
...
This dinner was originally Kris Cooper’s test towards him.
From start to finish, Nathan Leafcastle acted very well, but his gaze still betrayed his emotions.
Nathan Leafcastle hates him!
Kris Cooper sensed this from the moment they met.
...
...
That sleep, Kris Cooper rested until the afternoon.
When he woke up, it was already dusk outside.
In the back garden, Sister Li was accompanying grandma on a walk, there was no sign of Vera.
He sat up and noticed the study room door slightly ajar. Kris Cooper tiptoed in quietly, peering through the crack in the open door, only to see Vera wiping her eyes in front of a photo album.
"Damn!"
Kris Cooper muttered, pushing the door open to walk in.
Seeing him, Vera immediately put down the album in her hand.
"You’re awake, is your stomach okay, does your head still hurt...? Oh right, you didn’t eat much at noon, you must be hungry. I’ll ask Sister Feng to simmer some plain porridge for you, let me get it..."
"No rush!" Kris Cooper hugged her back to his chest, lowering his head to kiss her forehead, "In a couple of days, I’ll accompany you to visit the cemetery, tell Dad he’s a grandpa now, alright?"
"Okay."
"But promise me first, no crying!" He gently rubbed her hair, "I know you miss Dad, but birth, aging, illness, and death—it can’t be changed by anyone, Vera, you must accept it."
"I’m fine!" Vera lifted her face, returning his smile, "Really."
"Come on, your eyes are as red as a rabbit’s, thinking you can fool your husband’s sharp eyes."
"Sharp eyes? More like sleepy eyes, I really didn’t cry!" Vera said, pushing her face closer to him. With time passed, she had learned slowly to persevere, "Look if you don’t believe me, I just blinked for a while earlier. Check my left eye, isn’t it fine?"
He carefully examined her eyes, indeed, the left eye was clearly bright, but the right was noticeably a bit red, seemingly rubbed recently.
Carefully using fingers to open her eye, noting an eyelash in the corner, he quickly got up to fetch eye drops and a cotton swab, helping her rinse out the eyelash.
"Didn’t I tell you, if your eyes are uncomfortable, don’t rub them, just add a little tear drops and they’ll be fine."
She stuck her tongue out at him.
"Pregnant women are forgetful for three years, right? I gave all my IQ to your son, okay? Now then... kid’s dad, wait, let me get you some porridge."
Finishing her words, the little girl stood up to serve the porridge.
"Slow down!"
Kris Cooper hurriedly reminded, his lips forming a smile.
Kid’s dad?
Isn’t that nickname a bit outdated... but, it seems rather amusing!
