I Regressed With a 10,000x God-Tier Multiplier
Chapter 153: Ascent into the Stratosphere
Zephyria tore through the sky.
The floating city did not drift gently. Propelled by the Aether-Nova Engine, the massive black mountain accelerated straight up like a launched spear.
The new pitch-black Void-shield sliced perfectly through the atmospheric friction.
Lucifer stood on the high balcony of the central keep with his void-swirling eyes fixed on the sky above.
The horizon below them, the dead ash-covered continent, completely vanished into a curvature of dark gray.
The sky above lost its bright blue hue and shifted rapidly into a deep bruised purple, and finally into pure absolute blackness.
They breached the atmosphere!
They entered the vacuum of deep space.
"We are past the atmospheric edge," Sarah reported over the comms rune. The Star-Touched Oracle was stationed on the Spire of Celestial Convergence surrounded by floating holographic starmaps.
"The environmental friction is zero. The Void-shield is holding perfect internal pressure. We have life support."
Lucifer did not relax. The vacuum of space was empty, but it was not safe.
He looked out past the pitch-black energy shield of the city.
The cosmos was a terrifying infinite canvas of raw swirling nebulae and blindingly bright stars. The silence outside the dome was absolute.
But floating directly in Zephyria’s upward trajectory was a massive sprawling debris field!
It was not a collection of asteroids or dead comets. It was architecture!
Colossal chunks of pristine white marble the size of mountains drifted lazily in zero gravity. Massive shattered pillars wrapped in pure gold floated beside cracked glowing statues of forgotten deities.
Fragments of grand staircases, some spanning miles in length, hung suspended in the void and were completely disconnected from one another.
[System: Ancient Location Discovered.]
[Name: The Celestial Stairway (Ruined).]
[Status: Shattered. Unnavigable.]
"The path to Heaven," Elara whispered and stepped up beside Lucifer on the balcony.
The Twilight Sovereign looked at the floating white marble ruins. Her golden eyes tracked the sheer devastating scale of the destruction.
"The Gods broke it themselves," Elara murmured with her voice laced with ancient disdain. "When they realized the First Convergence was failing, they retreated to the Silver Citadel.
They shattered the only physical bridge connecting the mortal plane to the divine realm so no one could follow them."
"It’s a junkyard," Lucifer stated smoothly.
He did not admire the ruined architecture. He analyzed the tactical layout.
The debris field was dense. Massive slabs of marble and gold were slowly colliding with each other in the zero-gravity vacuum.
If Zephyria tried to fly straight through the wreckage at its current speed, the sheer kinetic impact of the mountain-sized marble chunks would eventually crack the Void-shield and crush the city.
"Vexia," Lucifer commanded over the comms. "Kill the upward thrust. Engage stabilization thrusters. Bring us to a dead halt."
"Arresting momentum, Warlord," the Sanguine Princess replied from the forge.
Zephyria shuddered slightly. The massive blue flames from the lower thrusters died down. The floating city came to a perfect smooth stop and hovered weightlessly just a few miles below the edge of the sprawling marble debris field.
"The path is blocked, Lucifer," Sarah’s voice echoed through the link. "The Star-Chart shows the Pearl Gates of the Silver Citadel are directly above us, hidden behind a dimensional barrier.
But we cannot reach the barrier without the Stairway intact. The spatial coordinates require the physical bridge to align the frequency."
"Then we rebuild the bridge," Lucifer said coldly.
"You can’t just glue a million tons of marble back together," Celeste’s voice crackled. The High Ranger was standing on the lower battlements and looked up at the massive floating chunks of rock. "And we are not alone out here."
Lucifer’s void eyes snapped to the nearest floating marble island.
The High Ranger was right. The ruins were not empty.
Sluggishly pulling themselves out from behind the shattered golden pillars and cracked statues were massive mechanical figures.
They were not demons or angels. They were constructs.
They were fifty feet tall and forged entirely of smooth featureless white marble and glowing gold joints.
They had massive jagged wings made of solid hard-light, and they wielded colossal double-bladed glaives that hummed with concentrated celestial energy.
They had no faces, only a single glowing golden ring where an eye should be.
[System Warning: Hostile Defense Grid Active!]
[Entities: Astral Constructs (Level 60 - Celestial Drones)]
[Quantity: 10,000+]
[Status: Engaging Trespassers.]
"The Gods left guard dogs," Lucifer observed smoothly.
"Astral Constructs," Elara confirmed and gripped her violet-flaming spear. "Mindless automated defense drones.
They were built to patrol the Stairway and kill anyone trying to climb up from the mortal plane. They don’t feel pain. They don’t retreat."
"Perfect," Lucifer said. "Neither do we."
The massive white marble drones launched themselves off the floating debris. They did not fly with aerodynamics.
They propelled themselves through the zero-gravity vacuum using bursts of holy magic from their golden wings.
Ten thousand Level 60 constructs swarmed downward and aimed directly for the pitch-black dome of Zephyria!
"Dragoons," Lucifer commanded and his voice echoed across the global comms rune. "Deploy."
Down in the main courtyard, the five thousand Void-Breaker Dragoons responded instantly.
The newly evolved Mythic-tier machines did not march to the edge of the city. They activated their massive Star-Metal wings! The purple energy shields on their pinions flared brightly.
They launched straight up!
Vexia manipulated the Sanguine Grid and opened massive temporary circular gaps in the pitch-black Void-shield.
The five thousand mechanical centaurs shot through the gaps and out into the freezing breathless vacuum of space! The shield instantly sealed behind them.
The Dragoons were built for this. Their dark matter hooves and Star-Metal wings thrived in zero gravity. They did not fall. They hovered effortlessly in the void and formed a massive heavily armored wedge formation between Zephyria and the incoming Astral Constructs.
"Free fire," Lucifer ordered.
The five thousand Void-Breakers raised their heavy shoulder cannons.
The silent vacuum of space lit up with blinding violent purple light! Five thousand concentrated beams of aether-energy ripped upward.
The barrage slammed into the diving Astral Constructs.
The impact was spectacular but entirely silent. The purple beams struck the smooth white marble armor of the drones.
The anti-demon munitions of the Dragoons were not perfectly optimized against celestial targets. However, the sheer overwhelming kinetic force of the Level 60 machines trading blows with Tier 4 Mythic cavalry was devastating!
Massive chunks of white marble shattered! Golden hard-light wings sputtered and died. Dozens of Astral Constructs were blown to pieces in the opening volley with their shattered remains drifting aimlessly into the void.
But the drones did not break formation. They pushed through the purple barrage and swung their colossal golden-glaives.
"They are too heavily armored for standard aether-fire to drop quickly," Elara noted as she watched a drone survive a direct hit to the chest and keep flying. "The marble is reinforced with divine law."
"Then we don’t shoot them," Lucifer stated coldly. "We shatter them."
He tapped his comms rune.
"Isolde," Lucifer called out.
On the high battlements of the city, the colossal Crystalline White Dragon reared her massive head.
"The airspace is mine, Warlord," Isolde hissed eagerly through the link.
"Clear the debris," Lucifer commanded.
Isolde roared! She launched herself off the wall and shot straight up toward the opening in the Void-shield.
The fifty thousand sub-adult Glacial Wyrms poured after her like a white avalanche flowing upward!
The Crown-Tier Legion breached the shield and entered the vacuum of space.
The dragons were not hindered by the lack of atmosphere. Their draconic magic allowed them to swim through the zero-gravity void effortlessly.
Isolde did not order her brood to engage in melee combat with the heavily armored constructs. She knew better than to risk her young against fifty-foot glaives.
She flew directly over the Dragoon formation and positioned her massive body between the drones and the city.
"Freeze them!" Isolde commanded her brood.
The fifty thousand Glacial Wyrms opened their jaws simultaneously.
They did not breathe a localized stream of frostfire. In the frictionless absolute zero environment of deep space, their cryogenic magic was magnified exponentially.
They unleashed a massive sweeping continuous wave of liquid absolute zero.
The blast wave washed over the ten thousand advancing Astral Constructs.
The drones were forged of divine marble and resistant to heat and physical trauma. But they were not immune to the absolute cessation of molecular movement.
The blinding white frostfire hit the constructs! The golden hard-light wings instantly shattered like brittle glass.
The smooth white marble armor froze completely solid and turned a dark sickly blue. The joints of the massive machines locked up and were entirely paralyzed by the extreme temperature drop.
The charge of the celestial drones was violently and instantly arrested! Ten thousand frozen statues drifted helplessly in the void.
"Dragoons. Advance and shatter," Lucifer ordered smoothly.
The five thousand Void-Breaker Dragoons did not fire their cannons. They accelerated forward with their Star-Metal wings propelling them at terrifying speeds.
They crashed directly into the frozen paralyzed Astral Constructs.
The black-metal centaurs lowered their heads and used their jagged dark matter armor as battering rams.
The physical impact against the brittle flash-frozen marble was absolute.
The Level 60 drones did not just break. They exploded into millions of tiny harmless shards of blue ice and shattered stone.
The zero-gravity battlefield was instantly filled with a massive expanding cloud of glittering frozen debris.
[System: Hostile Swarm Eliminated.]
[Area Secured.]
"The Vanguard is clear, Warlord," Isolde reported proudly as she circled her massive body above the shattered remains of the enemy. Her Wyrms roared silently in the vacuum and reveled in the flawless execution.
"Hold position," Lucifer commanded.
He did not recall the Dragoons or the dragons back into the city. He needed them outside for the next phase.
He looked up at the massive sprawling debris field of the shattered Celestial Stairway floating above them. The path was clear of enemies, but it was still a broken unnavigable mess of disconnected islands.
"Sarah," Lucifer called out. "Do you have the alignment matrix for the bridge?"
"I have it, Lucifer," the Oracle confirmed from the Spire. "I can see exactly where every piece of marble and gold is supposed to fit. But... there are millions of tons of rock up there spread across fifty miles. I cannot physically move them."
"You just point," Lucifer said smoothly. "I’ll do the heavy lifting."
Lucifer walked to the edge of the balcony. He raised his right hand. The Gauntlet of the Void King crackled with violent aggressive black lightning.
The Warlord was going to rebuild a divine bridge, and he was going to do it by brute force.
