Mated to A Rival Alpha - Chapter 225: The Hollow Queen [1]
[CALINDRA]
"Burn the bodies," Rania said with contempt as she looked right into the eyes of the man she was mated to. She knew how this would fuck him up because she had seen his eyes soften when the light came and he could see her eyes.
He could see her covered in shards from the explosion and honestly, he had hoped that Rania hadn’t been hurt. It didn’t matter that his father, the great warrior of all Calindra, had been incapacitated and was probably on his way to death.
What mattered was that he could try and make sense of what was happening. Maybe Kim Rania would give him a show of mercy, right?
But then what was mercy when Rania hadn’t ever received an ounce of mercy from Yanna or even the mate she had been given anyway?
"All of them?" Kylian asked, just to be sure because even where they were standing, there were dead bodies of Calindra warriors.
It was a gory sight but that wasn’t their concern. They had come to murder and they had done a damn good job at it.
It didn’t matter what was happening with them right now, because this was what war looked like, and Rania was certainly the high priestess of Karma.
"Yes, all of them. Get your men to come and pick the ones that are here too. We might as well clean up this place, since we’ll be turning it into a market for all wolves and rogues. We all ended a common market anyway.
"These houses are good enough to be market stalls for the general merchants, even the rogue merchants," Rania said angrily as she looked at her mate, who was staring at her in disbelief. He had hoped that she would be different.
He had hoped that she would be humane, but then Rania and humanity were not on the same page this time. And honestly, it was understandable.
"No," Jihoon let out, though it came off as a defeated whisper. This wasn’t what he had thought of.
He looked at Han Seong, the one man who was always on his side, the man who had been loyal to him as his friend, but on Han’s face, Jihoon saw darkness, something that he had never seen in the man.
Han Seong was never this cruel, but as he stood here, Jihoon could tell that he was on his own.
Daehyun himself looked like he wanted to disappear. He had fought alongside this bunch of misfits and even murdered all their men; he wasn’t sure if he was supposed to be thankful that Rania hadn’t murdered the women and children.
He wasn’t sure whether he was supposed to thank Kim Rania or pick up his swords and try his luck, to see how many blows he would land before Kaia Seto blasted him into oblivion.
"Okay alpha," Kylian said respectfully before leaving.
"Father, please wake up," Jihoon desperately called to his father, who had been molded into something else.
Alpha Taeho looked so terrible.
He looked like he was a few weeks off of his last heartbeat and that broke Jihoon’s heart. He hated what was happening and he couldn’t even begin to imagine what the mothers and children would feel, losing their children again in the hands of Kim Rania.
Even then, Rani didn’t care. She had always been kind and they had stomped on her kindness. They had turned against her and made her feel like she deserved only pain. And now that she was returning their favors.
"He won’t wake up anytime mate. But if it’s any consolation, your father dearest will lead a long life. He won’t die, not in my hands and certainly not in the hands of my friends.
"Your father will die in the hands of time, as we all will, but until then, you are stuck with him in that state for all lifelines," Rania said, bending lower so she could match Jihoon’s height on the ground where he had been squatting and trying to wake his father.
Alpha Taeho looked so terrible and for a split second Rania felt bad for the man for being caught in the crossfire. She wanted to tell her mate that everything would be okay, but even she knew that nothing would ever be okay.
She had crossed a line today, a line that she always reminded and prosmeid herself she would never cross. However, here and now, her anger had held her into a massacre one that was done at her command and that was something she would never forget.
Rania had known that there would be some lines that she would be forced to cross today. She had known that it would take more than she’d anticipated. However, Obren and Jihoon had taken everything from her.
She didn’t have anything other than her friends. She didn’t even have a mate to run to when things got tough. Sure she had Kaia, but Kaia Seto was here for a mission. What were the chances that he would stay once Rania got her vengeance?
Each word that came out of Rania’s mouth was like a stab to Jihoon’s heart. Sure she definitely didn’t care about that but it didn’t mean that he wasn’t feeling a lot of things at the moment.
His father was still in pain on the ground while his men were all murdered. His warriors had been taken out and that was something that never happened on a daily. Rania had come and rendered Calindra defenseless on all fronts.
She had taken out everyone and all she had to do was just be angry enough. This was cruel but wasn’t what she had to endure all those years, even more cruel?
She had been a prisoner of fate for so many years and this just wasn’t enough to make up for all the pain she had to endure because of this dumb man kneeling next to his father. She really had changed a lot and he could tell that too.
"Mate? Do you dare use that term when you have murdered all the warriors? Look around you, Kim Rania, you turned the whole place into a red sea of broken warriors and burning warriors," Jihoon commented sadly, and Rania just looked at him smugly.
She could see the pain in his eyes and he could feel that his wolf was trying to come out, but then Jihoon knew that if his wolf came out, so many things could happen.
His wolf was mad at Jihoon for delaying their bond throughout all these years and Jihoon knew that his wolf would without a doubt submit to Rania. It was very Alpha’s automatic setting.
Around their mates, Alphas would always submit so this wasn’t even surprising anymore. However, that didn’t mean that Park Jihoon was comfortable with his wolf coming out and claiming Rania.
He wasn’t ready for that, not when his father was on his deathbed because of the woman.
"Why? Don’t tell me you prefer Yanna over me, even now. I am insulted, my dear mate.
"Though I must let you know that while you were getting comfortable with that bitch, I also got another mate, who actually cares about me, just in case you’re wondering and overthinking the events three nights ago," Rania said and Jihoon just scoffed.
"Yeah, right, and I married the high priest of Altunia."
"You don’t believe me? Kaia Seto is my mat—" Rania said at the same time that Kaia growled possessively.
"She’s mine."
