Chapter 226: The Hollow Queen [2]

[CALINDRA]

"Why? Don’t tell me you prefer Yanna over me, even now. I am insulted, my dear mate.

"Though I must let you know that while you were getting comfortable with that bitch, I also got another mate, who cares about me, just in case you’re wondering and overthinking the events three nights ago," Rania said and Jihoon just scoffed.

He may have been hurting because of what Rania had done and was still doing to his people but that didn’t mean he couldn’t call a bluff when he saw wine.

Sure Rania hated him, and despised him but the woman had fought tooth and nail for a bond she shouldn’t have been protected in the first place.

To think that she was finally closing the lid on it was a little too convenient given that she had come to war because of that same bond.

Maybe Jihoon was reaching but what if Rania meant it? But then would Park Jihoon believe that too? It wasn’t like Kim Rania was the type to hop from one mate to another, right?

"Yeah, right, and I married the high priest of Altunia."

At that, it was Rania’s turn to let out a scoff. It was interesting how Jihoon trusted her even to this moment when she had come to serve him an unending sequence of pain.

Maybe the man had a high tolerance but that in itself wasn’t going to make things any better for them. Surely, Rania couldn’t have moved on that fast without even acknowledging their bond, yeah?

"You don’t believe me? Kaia Seto is my mat—" Rania said at the same time that Kaia growled possessively.

"She’s mine," Kaia said, the growl in his voice making Jihoon feel like this wasn’t a joke anymore.

The rumors about Kaia Seto had always been the and most of the time they said that Kaia Seto did no attachments and went to war for no one.

They said that Kaia Seto wasn’t loyal to anyone and couldn’t be involved in any shenanigans and yet as he was here with his dying father, who Rania insisted wasn’t dying, Jihoon realized that Kaia Seto had come from his comfort zone to come to war for Rania.

The man who served and followed no one had stepped up for Rania and that was a lot for Jihoon to take in. His mate had left him and he was going to be alone in all of this.

What the hell was he supposed to make of this terrifying reality then?

How was he supposed to face the turbo when everything he was having was slowly fading away?

"Take her and leave Calindra then," Jihoon said and Daehyun let out a gasp of shock. Was he letting his mate go with the barbarian? This couldn’t be real, yeah? Oh, but it was.

Jihoon was done with the pain and he was really tired.

Everyone who could have fought for him had died. He had a pack that didn’t have any able-bodied men to protect them. He had women who were waiting and children who were hoping to get more answers about the war.

It all was not just making any sense.

Jihoon had a lot on his plate and he knew that fighting Kaia for Rania wasn’t going to be easy. Maybe it was right that he gave up this early because it would spare him the pain of dealing with whatever the hell was coming for him.

"Why? Are you already tired from the pain in your heart? You poor thing. We haven’t started and you are giving up already? I thought the moon goddess assumed you were strong enough to be my mate.

"But it seems like all I got was a weakling," Rania said with a dark chuckle. She was still squatting next to her mate, an intentional position to make the man feel the mate bond’s intensity and keep fighting it. That was the problem.

Park Jihoon had been hoping to make things with Rania since he knew she was his mate. He had been determined to fix whatever mess he had made but now it seemed like none of that would work.

A pack without men to guard them was useless.

A pack with a dying leader was pointless and a pack that had remained so vulnerable was simply doomed.

There was no coming back for this and the sooner he faced that reality the sooner he could get the word out and seek help. However, was that something that these misfits would let him do?

"This is pointless anyway," Rnia said before turning to her friends, "how about we take him and his beta and make use of them at the camp? We would do well to have a few prisoners and what better trophy to have than the Calindra alpha dn his beta?"

"I call dibs on Daehyun," Oshita gleefully said and Rana just nodded, before Oshita rushed to Daehyun and cuffed him up with the silver chains.

The chains did hurt, a lot, but that didn’t matter to them at the moment. They wanted people to entertain them and Daehyun was going to be just that.

"I’ll take Jihoon," Chang Wook said, instantly casting a spell on the man who was kneeling next to his very incapacitated father.

With the spell cast Jihoon found himself in a tiny silver cage, one that only had enough sac for him to be seated in. He looked like an animal and the cage was so small that even if he shifted into his wolf, his wolf wouldn’t fit.

Well, he had to have known that because he didn’t try shifting as expected.

"My father—" Jihoon said as he looked at his father who now seemed to be in a world different from his. He was in chains and a damned cage with his helpless father out there on his own and without support.

This was cruel of Rania but then she hadn’t even started yet. Everyone would feel her wrath. She would make them all bow to her, though that wasn’t what she had initially wanted. This right here was just her version of giving Jihoon a taste of his own medicine.

The pain had become a part of their lives, and Rania had been so quick to embrace it. Of course, Rania’s heart shattered at the sight of her mate in the cage. Her instinct was to protect him and save him, but the man hadn’t ever tried to save him.

The man hadn’t tried to work thighs out with her. This man had been her version of hell in a hundred different ways and it was time that he also felt what it was like to be trapped in a hell he couldn’t even come out from.

"That’s your problem," Rania said, getting up so she would be back with her friends. Alpha Taeho had gotten unconscious and he looked a little too pitiful.

That however didn’t matter to Rania because she had gotten what she came for and she was taking home a prize, a really interesting one that she wouldn’t waste anytime with. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

"Anyone hungry?" Rania asked her friends so nonchalantly like they were not covered in blood.
