Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 918: Did He Lose His Memory?
At midnight three days later, while Gwen Grant was sleeping beside the hospital bed, she suddenly felt the hand she was holding move slightly. She was startled awake and glanced at Miles Sterling lying at the bedside, tentatively calling out, "Miles?"
A few seconds later, she saw Miles Sterling’s eyelids twitch. Gwen was stunned, thinking it was her imagination, until she saw Miles open his eyes.
"You’re finally awake!"
Miles Sterling turned his gaze upon hearing the voice, looking blankly at Gwen’s face.
Gwen was both surprised and elated witnessing this scene, feeling a bit at a loss. After a brief moment, she hurriedly ran out of the room to find a doctor.
The Sterling parents, upon receiving the news, rushed to the hospital by night, clutching Miles Sterling’s attending doctor and asking, "Doctor, how is my son?"
Gwen’s face no longer held the joy from earlier; instead, she looked at Miles Sterling with a worried expression.
Seeing the slightly somber expression, Wendy Jennings sensed something was wrong and anxiously asked, "Say something, what’s happening with my son?"
Before the doctor could respond, Wendy Jennings squeezed to the bedside, looking at Miles Sterling and said, "Son, where are you feeling unwell? Tell Mama."
Miles Sterling simply stared blankly at the people around his bed, his gaze cold and unfamiliar.
It was then that Gwen spoke to Wendy Jennings, "Mom, it seems Miles doesn’t remember anything."
Wendy paused, initially finding it hard to believe, then leaned closer to Miles and gently asked, "Son, it’s Mom. Take a good look. Do you still recognize me?"
Miles Sterling’s expression remained confused.
The doctor finally pulled Wendy aside and said, "Ma’am, don’t worry too much. Young Master has been in a coma for so long; it’s not surprising that his memory is a bit hazy now that he’s awake. Let him take his time. He might be better by tomorrow morning." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
Wendy sighed but was relieved, saying, "It’s good that he’s awake. So, Doctor, are there any other problems with his body?"
The doctor responded, "Tomorrow morning, I’ll come back to check on Young Master’s condition and arrange a comprehensive examination. But for now, Young Master’s situation has been relatively stable. The focus later will likely be on leg rehabilitation."
Gwen came over and asked, "Doctor, has he lost his memory?"
The doctor hesitated and shook his head, saying, "It’s hard to say at this moment. We’ll know more tomorrow morning. Meanwhile, talk to him, reminisce about old times, and see if it triggers any memories."
Gwen: "Alright, thank you, Doctor."
"Dr. Vaughn is on duty today. If anything comes up, you can call him."
After the doctor left, Wendy Jennings went back to the bedside, continuously talking to Miles Sterling.
She wasn’t talking about past events but was constantly telling Miles Sterling, making sure he knew who everyone around him was and their relationship with him.
But the incessant chatter made Miles only feel annoyed. He frowned, closed his eyes, parted his dry lips, and said huskily, "I don’t know you all. All of you, get out."
Wendy Jennings and Gwen exchanged a glance. Gwen gently pulled Wendy aside and softly said, "Mom, don’t worry, give Miles some time."
"How can I not worry?! He doesn’t even remember me anymore! I am his mother!"
"It’s a blessing that Miles woke up. If he really doesn’t remember the past, we’ll just help him recall slowly. He will get better. It’s getting late. Mom and Dad, you should go rest. I’ll stay and talk with Miles."
