70s Delicate Girl: A Guide to Being a Rich Woman-Chapter 104: Job Secured
Li Caixia was feeling like her heart was being scratched by a cat because she couldn’t brag about how capable her son was. If Madam Chen weren’t watching, she would want to boast without holding back.
Lin Aiguo’s wife knew a little but didn’t say much since she wasn’t as chatty as Li Caixia. The whole family was very concerned about Xu Minghui’s interview.
Early in the morning, Madam Chen woke up earlier and cooked two bowls of noodles with two eggs for Xu Minghui and Xu Mumu.
Looking at the egg noodles in his bowl, Xu Minghui felt a bit pressured. Seeing everyone expecting him, he quietly started eating his noodles.
"Son, you have to perform well and make the family proud. You must get the job." Before leaving, Xu Hai patted his son’s shoulder.
"Got it, Dad, I’ll do my best." Xu Minghui was feeling a bit stressed.
"Dad, we’re leaving now; we’ll be late." Xu Mumu saved her brother, who was given heavy responsibilities by the whole family.
"Sis, I feel this job is quite overwhelming." After leaving the house, Xu Minghui said with a headache.
"Naturally, it’s such a great job. Wouldn’t you regret missing it?" Xu Mumu smiled, feeling that as long as her brother had a place to showcase his talents, he would try his best to climb up.
"It is a good job. I’m just a bit lacking in confidence." Xu Minghui sighed.
"No worries, there’s always another job if this doesn’t work out. Other factories are definitely hiring." Xu Mumu consoled Xu Minghui, "By the way, did you remember what I told you yesterday?"
The night before, Xu Mumu had given Xu Minghui special training, sharing some future interview tips. She didn’t want him to miss out on such a good job either.
"I remembered. Will it really work?" Xu Minghui felt uncertain.
"It’ll definitely help. Just do as I said, and if you don’t get selected, I’ll think of other ways for you." Xu Mumu said seriously.
"Alright then." Xu Minghui nodded, not having any better ideas than what his sister suggested, mainly because he felt he wasn’t very competitive.
In the county town, Xu Mumu parted ways with Xu Minghui and still worried about her brother’s interview after arriving at school.
"Mumu, did your brother meet my dad?" Du Yu was also concerned about this matter.
"He did." Xu Mumu nodded.
"Don’t worry, I heard from my dad that they only recommended about ten people, and since your brother knows how to drive, he’ll definitely be fine." Du Yu reassured Xu Mumu.
"Yes, Du Yu, thank you really much." Xu Mumu looked at Du Yu; he had helped her knowingly and unknowingly, and she was quite grateful to him.
"No worries, aren’t we good friends?" Du Yu scratched his head, feeling a bit embarrassed. It was his dad who handled those matters.
"Yes, good friends." Xu Mumu smiled, considering Du Yu more important than Xue Yan.
After school, Xu Mumu hurriedly headed home after saying hello to Zhao Qing, wanting to know the result.
However, before she reached home, she overheard the team gossiping.
"Oh my, really?"
"Of course, Caixia told me herself that Minghui joined the county transport team." Liu Cuixia stood proudly among a group of women, as if her son had become a worker.
"Wow, I didn’t expect Minghui to be so successful."
"Exactly, I knew Minghui was capable. My daughter always has been thinking of him."
...
Xu Mumu’s mouth twitched, and she quietly headed home, needing not to worry anymore.
Now that Xu Minghui got the interview, he was just a temporary worker. Xu Mumu estimated he’d need to work at least six months and perform well to get a permanent position.
But Xu Mumu didn’t mind, believing Xu Minghui wanted permanent status more than she did. How he would strive for it was up to him.
Upon returning home, the whole family surrounded Xu Minghui, who was beaming, recounting his interview experience.
"Mumu’s back, your brother passed the interview!" Li Caixia said excitedly.
"Mom, I already know; now the entire team knows." Xu Mumu said helplessly.
"I was just happy." Li Caixia said with a smile. When Xu Minghui returned, she noticed immediately and learned from him that he passed the interview. She was eager to share the good news.
"Sis, all the things you taught me came in handy." Xu Minghui excitedly looked at Xu Mumu. He had watched others being interviewed, and he performed the best, coupled with his tractor-driving skills, earning him immediate acceptance.
"I’m glad it helped. When do you start work?" Xu Mumu smiled, knowing people were simpler now, unlike the future, making her taught tactics easier to endear Xu Minghui.
"The day after tomorrow. They have dormitories assigned, so I’ll be staying there." Xu Minghui said happily; sharing a room seemed better than home.
"I’ll pack some books for you. Even though you’re in the county, you need to read daily." Xu Mumu nodded.
"Sis, no need for that." Xu Minghui’s bright smile instantly fell; he had work, and still had to study?
"You think so?" Xu Mumu raised an eyebrow.
"I’ll read, okay?" Xu Minghui was on the verge of tears; his sister was a real taskmaster.
"I’ll check every week when you return. If I find you’re not studying, you’ll see what I’ll do." Xu Mumu glanced at her brother nonchalantly.
The transport team was a good job and could travel to different places, allowing for small private trades, but she didn’t want Xu Minghui doing that.
The plan to resume college entrance exams was known only to her and Xu Xue in the family, and she hoped Xu Minghui would participate as well.
Even with a job, Xu Minghui felt less joy as his sister planned studies for him.
The little kids didn’t care, for they studied daily, and to earn big money, they should follow their big sister.
Xu Minghui getting a job also shocked Xu Xue, as a transport team job was impressive, and Xu Minghui actually passed the interview.
Xu Xue gazed towards the main house, her eyes deepening, sure it was Xu Mumu. She needed to find a chance to probe her.
