Becoming a God Starts with Acting-Chapter 409: Turbulent Seas (16)
Silvanus walked up to the only grave in this space. He raised his hand, and the ground parted on its own, loose and crumbly, revealing a corner of the truth beneath it.
A cold metallic edge gleamed within an illusory band of light.
Silvanus lowered his head, unable to restrain himself as he coughed twice, forcing fresh blood down his throat. He slowly brushed away the earth covering the coffin, revealing a pitch-black coffin that emitted a faint, icy glow. Cold air spilled outward, as if it were deep within an ice cellar.
Silvanus held his breath, his heart pounding violently in relentless waves. The thing that had always driven him, drawn him in, was now right before his eyes.
His hands touched the metal surface, and the chill nearly froze his flesh.
Silvanus did not care. He pushed hard against the coffin lid.
The lid was solid, but under his strength it could only fall helplessly to the side.
A slightly grating sound rang out, and Silvanus narrowed his eyes.
What greeted his sight were countless translucent daffodils, as if sculpted from ice and snow. The small blossoms adorned the body lying within the coffin.
This person...
...
There was no denying that Vivian’s appearance caused the seemingly hopeless situation of Nicole’s group to begin showing signs of hope.
Because every time she bit into the flesh and blood of a merfolk, that merfolk would grow weaker and weaker. Even if they recovered, they became far easier to injure than before, and their self-healing ability declined drastically.
Before long, four of the eight princes and princesses had fallen. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Even Thalassa, who was locked in fierce combat with Athena, could not help but notice this change.
When she saw Vivian’s ears and that enormous tail, Thalassa frowned slightly.
The light surrounding that creature was so dazzling it made Thalassa’s eyes ache.
There was no doubt that those dark merfolk would be completely annihilated sooner or later.
Vivian even had the mood to laugh out loud. Right now, she truly was happy, yes, dancing across the battlefield like this was exactly what she wanted, and exactly what she would enjoy.
Fresh blood, darkness, tearing apart even more darkness.
As that thought flashed through her mind, Vivian’s fangs abruptly grew even longer, her mouth deforming as she lunged forward again, cutting a clear path through everything in her way. Judging by the hunger in her eyes, there was no doubt about it. She was heading straight for Thalassa’s flesh and blood.
Nana hovered in midair. Caesar had already withdrawn from the battlefield and was staying by Nicole’s side, with the sole purpose of protecting the only one who had completely exhausted her flux.
Nana watched as Vivian continued to press forward, and she herself did not hesitate for a moment either. Yet at that very moment, the dark merfolk that had been entangled with her all this time seemed to have received some kind of order. It moved cunningly, flinging her away before lunging straight toward Vivian instead.
All four merfolk immediately surrounded Vivian, leaving not the slightest gap.
Their bodies seemed slightly larger, their claws and fangs even sharper. After repeated assaults, scratches finally appeared on Vivian’s body.
Nana did not hesitate and shot back at once, slashing apart a merfolk that was about to sink its fangs into Vivian!
Shrill screams rang out in waves.
At that moment, a whisper suddenly sounded right beside Thalassa: "You’re fighting me, yet where are you looking?"
Thalassa turned her head, only to see Athena already close at her side, a gentle smile on her face. It turned out that after all her efforts, Athena had finally destroyed the barrier surrounding Thalassa.
Though it sounded slow in the telling, everything had taken place in less than a few minutes.
Thalassa swept her hand out, shattering the Athena right beside her. However, it was not over. Many more Athenas were charging in.
They all looked exactly the same, each holding a trident, carrying identical power, so long as they were not struck.
They raised their tridents at the same time, and an enormous surge of energy immediately gathered in the sky.
Naturally, Thalassa would not wait to be injured.
Only to see her three pairs of hands move simultaneously.
The trident in her hand vanished, and immediately afterward, ribbons of darkness appeared, taking shape into massive crescent moons. Some spread out around her, while the rest shot upward into the air, meeting the attack head-on.
"Boom! Rumble!"
Shockwaves spread out in waves, blasting the battlefield of Vivian and the others far away. The energy explosion flooded a stretch of the seafloor with light.
Vivian struggled forward, only to discover that the dark merfolk had all transformed into streams of black vapor, rushing straight toward the center of the energy.
A shadow hurtled toward her from the front.
Vivian meant to dodge, but after a brief thought, she instead reached out and caught Nana. Nana spat out a mouthful of blood, her entire body utterly exhausted, as if she might collapse at any moment.
Vivian frowned and directly hurled Nana toward Caesar.
Caesar let out a roar and quickly caught Nana.
Nana forced herself to stand, cursing under her breath. One hand covered her side, where a deep bite wound had been torn open, injuring her internal organs. At the moment, Nana could only grit her teeth and focus on healing herself.
The explosion above had not yet ceased. The light that had spread outward gathered once more, then space itself trembled as a powerful aftershock burst outward again. Only then did everything begin to settle.
This head-on clash instantly sent the sea surface above into a raging frenzy. Waves howled and surged without any rhythm, colliding with one another, rising and falling, as if toying with humanity’s fear. Barriers had already been raised, but in the face of the ocean’s fury, humans still appeared far too small.
And it was not only humans. Even the merfolk beneath the sea were swept away from Aqualon. The structures on the seafloor shook violently, showing signs of collapse.
When the light dissipated, the revealed scene left all who saw it horrified.
At this moment, even Thalassa had lost portions of her flesh, stark white bone exposed, cracks spreading across it. There was no fresh blood, only streams of black smoke constantly seeping out. Clearly, Athena’s attack had inflicted severe damage, leaving her temporarily unable to heal herself.
But even more despairing was the sight ahead. Athena had been imprisoned.
Rings of darkness bound her tightly. Athena was trapped at the center, black smoke like a membrane wrapping around her entire body.
As if being strangled, she could only lift her head high, muscles rigid, veins standing out in sharp relief.
She seemed to want to lash out with her tail, yet at present, the only part that could still move was her beautiful tail fin.
Thalassa smiled. Half of her scalp had been stripped away, leaving only her fangs exposed like a cluster of jagged bones.
"Truly a perfect specimen. Now then, become my puppet."
She opened her mouth and whispered. Immediately after, darkness like a needle pierced straight through Athena’s brow, drilling into her mind!
