Becoming a God Starts with Acting-Chapter 430: Lichina’s Successor
"Bang! Boom!" 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Another thunderous sound rang out. Yet another person had failed to escape the barrier.
Someone had truly given up and accepted this fate.
Mira gently placed her hand on the stone slab and said softly, "This seems to be a type of dark forbidden technique, and it requires blood to activate." She lowered her eyes. "Only Lichina’s blood can open a path that will lead us out of here."
Someone shouted loudly, "It’s just blood. Maybe our blood will work too!"
Without the slightest hesitation, that person cut their skin and stepped forward, letting blood drip onto it. But of course, it was meaningless. Just as Lichina had said, those who belonged to the Land of Light flowed with blood different from hers.
Silvanus, standing nearby, had almost heard Mira’s entire analysis. But clearly, last time his blood had been usable...
Perhaps now he should try as well...
But just as he was about to step forward, a shout rang out. "Silvanus can do it. Last time, he used his own blood to get us out of Lichina’s secret chamber!"
Silvanus turned back in shock, only to see Ariana looking at him with a smile. Her expression carried a hint of madness. Without waiting for Silvanus to say anything, she quickly accused him, "Silvanus, why don’t you go up and try? Don’t you want to save everyone?"
She seemed almost unhinged as she tore at her own arm, raking it until long streaks of blood appeared.
Silvanus, who said you couldn’t save me, who said you couldn’t protect me? I’m in so much pain, yet you couldn’t save me from Matthew!
If you hadn’t brought Matthew into Lumina, how could I have been treated like this, how could I have lived every day in fear like this? It’s all your fault, Silvanus!
Ariana’s eyes were red as she thought wildly, as if she had truly forgotten that without Silvanus, she would not even have had the chance to enter Lumina, or she might have been eliminated by monsters in the very first round.
Nana frowned, her voice cold. "Can’t you see Silvanus is already going up? Accusing someone in such a rush, anyone who didn’t know better would think you had some deep grudge against him."
Ariana gritted her teeth and stared at Nana. She also hated Nana. They were both children of noble families, so why was Nana chosen from the moment she was born, while she herself was forever neglected?
Nana had the right to be arrogant, while she, no matter how obedient she was, would never be liked.
But at that very moment, Matthew’s gaze swept lightly in this direction. Ariana jolted, lowered her head sharply, and did not dare say another word.
Mira also noticed Silvanus. Clearly, Silvanus was suffused with light, with nothing related to darkness at all. But since Ariana had said so, and Silvanus himself was willing to try, she did not say anything further.
She even smiled, her voice gentle. "Perhaps it’s because your blood carries a special kind of energy that can break the seal..."
With the situation so urgent, neither of them said much more. Silvanus stepped forward and let his blood drip into the groove.
In an instant, surging light burst forth. People seemed to hear a cracking sound, as if something had shattered. Mira could not help but feel astonished, and the crowd cried out in excitement, "It worked, it really worked!"
"We’re saved!"
Everything happened incredibly fast. Yet just as the barrier was broken, a violent gale rose up. In the blink of an eye, an explosion erupted at a speed no one could react to. By the time darkness swallowed them, their only remaining response was to hurriedly form protective shields around themselves, even though it seemed far too late.
Silvanus only felt as if his soul had been torn out, bound tight, unable to resist.
"Look!"
Someone roared. Countless gazes suddenly turned this way, and Silvanus could not help feeling confused.
Look. What were they looking at?
Instinctively, Silvanus raised his hand. He saw that now, dark energy churned within his palm, like an endless, surging power, something no human could ever hold in their hand like this.
Silvanus’s eyes widened, his pupils contracting.
He stared up blankly. At that moment, Sylus also pulled Mira behind him and shouted loudly, "Lichina has chosen him as her successor. From ancient times until now, only races from the Land of Darkness have been able to inherit each other’s powers!"
The crowd immediately erupted into an uproar, and the looks they cast toward Silvanus all changed.
The hatred the Land of Light held toward the Land of Darkness ran deep and could never be erased. Any dark creature that set foot on this land had to be exterminated.
"No, I’m not!"
Silvanus himself did not understand how things had turned out like this. Yet the darkness rising from his body only grew thicker and thicker, making his denial seem increasingly meaningless.
This could not go on. He needed to escape.
Silvanus tried to use magic, but he could not. Right now, he was unable to use any magic that belonged to the light.
In an instant, everything changed. Silvanus went from a savior to a creature everyone wanted to strike down.
He looked back. Those faces were once familiar, yet not a single person spoke up for him.
His gaze instinctively turned toward Matthew, only to see Matthew staring at him with eyes wide open, his pupils trembling nonstop, as if he could not believe what he was seeing.
Yes. Who could believe it. Who could have imagined it. Silvanus did not hesitate any longer and turned around to flee.
At present, he had no way to prove himself. The only possible ending would be death.
Run. Run as fast as possible!
Vivian landed on the ground and instantly grew enormous. Silvanus mounted her back, and one man and one beast shot forward like the wind.
Silvanus kept trying to use magic, but failed again and again. In his mind, he could not help recalling the records inside Lichina’s notebook.
In the next instant, as if something had been struck solid, darkness surged and took on substance in his hand.
Silvanus panicked and hurriedly clenched his fist. The darkness immediately dissipated as though it had never existed.
Silvanus’s heart was beating too fast, almost painfully. He... he really could control darkness...
No. Impossible.
The shouts behind them were drawing closer. Vivian cursed loudly, "Silvanus, don’t cry. Those people are truly vicious. You clearly just saved them. A bunch of hypocritical humans. I’ll bite them all to death. I’ll protect you!"
Silvanus murmured, "I’m not crying."
I just... can’t accept this reality.
At that very moment, a streak of light suddenly shot toward them. Vivian dodged swiftly, but the attacks grew denser and denser. Even her evasions began to strain her, especially since the earlier battle had already consumed far too much of her energy.
Seeing a light arrow about to pierce Vivian, Silvanus clenched his teeth as darkness flared up, forming a shield.
But Silvanus had no control over his power at all.
The shield carried such tremendous force that it even deflected the arrow back, piercing a mage who was charging toward them!
That mage collapsed instantly, and the screams grew even clearer.
"He just used dark magic!"
"He killed someone!"
"As expected..."
The clamor behind them echoed relentlessly. To Silvanus, the sounds felt as though they were closing in on him from all sides, unbearably close.
At that moment, Vivian’s foot suddenly stumbled. Her massive body pitched forward, and Silvanus was flung up into the air.
At the same time, a gigantic Lumin—lion-like in shape, with a massive horn on its head—suddenly appeared. It clamped down on Vivian, savagely flinging her aside. Simultaneously, an enormous block of ice formed and shot straight toward Vivian, piercing through her shoulder and pinning her to the ground!
Vivian let out a shrill scream. Fresh blood sprayed out, staining all of her beautiful silver fur. In the next instant, the ice shattered and vanished. Vivian also shrank back to her original size, lying motionless in a pool of blood.
Everything happened in one smooth, seamless sequence. Clearly, the attacker had acted with almost no hesitation.
"Vivian!" Silvanus shouted. His cloak flared as he plunged straight down toward the ground. But at that moment, a figure suddenly lunged forward, the sound of tearing air catching Silvanus’s attention.
He turned his head, only to see Matthew charging toward him. Silvanus hesitated for a split second, but then remembered that the Lumin that had just attacked Vivian was Matthew’s Lumin.
Then that ice just now...
Silvanus saw Matthew smile. In the next instant, he was kicked straight into the ground. The blow was so powerful that Silvanus rolled several times across the earth, kicking up a cloud of dust.
He opened his mouth and spat out a mouthful of fresh blood, feeling as if his internal organs had been completely shattered.
