Chapter 231: Intuition

"Where is he?" Trevor Welsh hurried to the Welsh Mansion upon receiving the news from Henry’s secretary of Amy’s disappearance. Just as he believed everything was under control, this unexpected turn of events occurred.

"Sir, he is in his room. Dr. Martin sedated him earlier. He had to do it because he was becoming violent and had assaulted everyone, including Rei and Dave. Anton and his security team were struggling to calm him down; it was as if he had lost himself," Demi informed.

"That is expected... Where are Charles and Rei?" Trevor inquired, while one hand massaged his throbbing temple and the other rested on his waist.

"They are in the room next to the study. The police are currently with them, along with Mr. Murray," Demi replied, gesturing for Trevor to follow her as they headed toward the mentioned room.

"And who is that?" Trevor wondered how Rei and Dave could have lost sight of Amy, considering they were guarding her vigilantly like a hawk.

"From what I have gathered, he was the person accompanying Mrs. Welsh when she was taken by some men. They discovered him unconscious in the service hallway," Demi explained before opening the door for Trevor.

Trevor stepped into the room, his eyes scanning the room before him. Dave sat slumped in a chair, his face etched with worry and exhaustion. Rei, on the other hand, stood near the window, his arms folded tightly across his chest, his gaze fixed on the outside world.

"Rei, Dave," Trevor called out, his voice tinged with concern. "What happened? How did Amy disappear?"

"There was a commotion in the cafe, two customers’ heated argument turned into a fist fight and others joined in after getting hit while trying to stop the fight. The glass windows of the cafe got shattered and it was really chaotic.

We were trying to stop them but Mr. Murray here said he tried to bring Amy to the lobby using the back door since the front entrance was blocked by the chairs and tables that were thrown," Rei explained, crossing his arms while describing the chaos that unfolded.

Kevin, feeling frustrated, quickly responded to Rei’s statement. "I was just thinking about getting Amy to safety because she was right there, in the midst of the chaos. Everything was flying here and there, and I couldn’t risk her getting hurt.

"So why only take Amy? Sandra and Mary were there too, you did not take them with you," Rei sarcastically implied.

"They were not with us at that time, I have no idea where Sandra was and Mary was in the manager’s office talking to the intercom," Kevin rebutted.

Rei’s anger flared, and he lashed out at Kevin. "This is your fault! If you had not taken her away, she would not have been kidnapped!"

"Enough!" Trevor’s voice echoed in the room, "Did you recognize any of them?" he asked Kevin.

"No, I was knocked out, someone hit me on the back of my head," Kevin explained.

One of the police stood up and showed him a video on the tablet.

"Here Mr. Welsh, they wore chef’s uniforms and hats, they were looking down on the food trays that they were carrying so their faces were not visible and when they passed the CCTV cameras, they put on their ski masks, making it impossible to see their faces."

Trevor’s jaw clenched as he considered the situation. "We need to find Amy, and we need to find her fast. Every minute counts. Have the police gathered any leads?"

Rei sighed, his frustration evident in her voice. "They are still gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and checking surveillance footage. But so far, nothing concrete has emerged."

"That is all for us, for now. We will contact you when we have further updates on the case," one of the police officers stated before heading out.

As the door closed behind the police officers, silence enveloped the room. The weight of the situation settled upon them, urging them to take matters into their own hands. They could not afford to sit idly by while Amy’s fate hung in the balance.

However, before proceeding, they needed to address Kevin. Rei had carefully listened to the conversation recorded by the hidden device that Roana had planted in Kevin’s car. The dialogue only reinforced his growing suspicions about him, intensifying his intuition against the man.

"Charles, please accompany Mr. Murray. Our discussion here is done for the time being," Rei instructed, his tone firm but composed.

Kevin complied without resistance, allowing Charles to lead him out of the study. The weight of Rei’s intense scrutiny felt suffocating to him, and he eagerly anticipated escaping from his gaze.

After ensuring Kevin and Charles had left the room, Rei shifted his attention to Trevor, a serious expression on his face.

"Uncle Trev, there is something you need to hear," he began, briefing him on the findings from their investigation and the information gathered from Ash. Once he had provided the context, he played the audio file for Trevor to listen.

Trevor listened intently, his brow furrowing as he absorbed the content. After the audio concluded, he let out a sigh with obvious disappointment.

"It does sound suspicious, Rei, but unfortunately, it is not enough to warrant Kevin’s arrest. He could easily argue that they were discussing a harmless game or something unrelated. There is no definitive proof that they were discussing Amy or Henry."

"But we can not ignore our intuition, Uncle Trev," Rei persisted. "There have been too many coincidences, too many red flags. We need to keep digging, find more evidence, and make sure we are not overlooking anything."

"You are right, Rei. We can not afford to let our guard down. Let us continue our investigation, and explore all possible leads, and I agree with Vanessa. Leave it to me, I will handle the investigation with Henry’s former contract girlfriends, let us see if one of them is the cause of this problem."
