Chapter 45: Chapter 45: Did We Interrupt President Sinclair’s Romance?

"Omni Industries," Maxim Sinclair rubbed his chin, "Did they say who they’re sending?"

"No," Assistant Collins shook his head, "I asked them, but they said the representative hasn’t been decided yet. Do you have any specific requests on this matter, President Sinclair?"

"No special requests, just asking." Maxim Sinclair took the document and pen, and started to browse through them.

At ten in the morning, Assistant Collins received a call from the receptionist, knocked, and entered: "President Sinclair, the people from Omni Industries have arrived, but it seems the leading representative is The Eldest Miss Huxley."

"Is Tina Huxley the representative from Omni Industries this time?"

Maxim Sinclair’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, "What does the Huxley Family mean by sending her?"

Assistant Collins, who didn’t know much about Tina Huxley, asked in confusion, "Are you dissatisfied with this Miss Huxley, President Sinclair?"

"I’m just curious why the Huxley Family would send her as a representative to discuss cooperation with us," Maxim Sinclair made no attempt to hide the disdain on his face, "Her business skills are average, yet for some reason, she believes herself to be a business prodigy."

It was rare to hear him so sharply critical of a business partner, and Assistant Collins couldn’t help but chuckle quietly: "She’s already waiting at the downstairs reception, it wouldn’t be appropriate to send her away now!"

"As a daughter of old family friends, no matter how much I dislike her, I can’t just send her away," Maxim Sinclair waved his hand irritably, "Quickly call the reception back and let her come up, and meanwhile, gather our pre-determined representatives to my office; we’ll discuss in my office later."

"Yes, President Sinclair."

Soon enough, the representatives from Omni Industries, led by Tina Huxley, entered Maxim Sinclair’s office.

Upon entering, Tina Huxley warmly greeted Maxim Sinclair, "Maxim, it’s really not easy to see you. I waited downstairs for so long, I thought you weren’t in the office today."

"I was in a meeting earlier and didn’t realize you had arrived at the company. Sorry to keep you waiting so long."

"It wasn’t all that long," Tina Huxley quickly corrected herself, smiling, "We’re so familiar with each other, there’s no need for formalities which would make us seem distant."

Assistant Collins, who was making tea with a secretary nearby, couldn’t resist turning to glance at her.

Their demeanor seemed less like they were here to discuss cooperation, and more like they were here to assume the role of the boss’s wife.

Ignoring Tina Huxley, Maxim Sinclair opened the file before him, cleared his throat, and spoke: "Let’s skip the pleasantries and get straight to business, keeping private and public matters separate."

At this, Assistant Collins appropriately spoke up: "All the relevant materials are over here."

His words smoothly shifted the conversation from personal to business matters.

Tina Huxley, intending to make her presence felt in front of Sinclair Group employees, looked a bit embarrassed but could only follow along and discuss business matters.

Shortly after twelve, reminded by Assistant Collins, Maxim Sinclair closed the documents in his hands: "There are still many areas left to discuss, which can’t be finished in just one or two hours, let’s have lunch first, take a break after, and continue in the afternoon."

Having said that, Assistant Collins immediately stood up: "Arrangements have been made for lunch orders, everyone can rest for twenty minutes, lunch will be delivered shortly."

Upon hearing this, everyone got up and left the office one by one.

Tina Huxley, unwilling to leave, followed Maxim Sinclair to the floor-to-ceiling window. She looked outside along with Maxim’s gaze for a while before asking in confusion, "What are you looking at?"

"Nothing, just gazing into the distance in a daze." Maxim Sinclair, holding a glass, gestured outside, "Haven’t you noticed that the view outside the window is quite nice?"

"The view from this angle is naturally good. I’m just surprised that you also appreciate the scenery."

Maxim Sinclair chuckled: "What’s there to be surprised about? You used to be shopping or attending parties all the time, and now you’ve suddenly had a change of heart and are starting to manage the family business. I don’t find that strange, do I?"

Tina Huxley, intent on changing her image, couldn’t help but defend herself: "I was young and naive before and now that I’ve grown mature, it’s only natural to start managing the business, especially since I’m my dad’s only daughter."

Vaguely speculating her intentions, Maxim Sinclair raised his water glass towards her: "Here’s to you becoming a powerful businesswoman, President Huxley, and I look forward to your guidance in the future!"

Tina Huxley felt both shy and angry at his words, gently tapped his elbow, and said in mock anger: "You’re teasing me again, had I known, I wouldn’t have said so much to you."

Her hand was still on Maxim Sinclair’s elbow when she saw the office door being opened from the outside.

It was one of the Sinclair Group’s people from the earlier discussions.

The person apologized awkwardly with a document in hand and quickly retreated.

He withdrew so fast that Maxim Sinclair didn’t have time to call him to stop.

Tina Huxley slowly withdrew her hand: "Seems like that person has important business with you, so I won’t disturb you now."

Under Assistant Collins’ arrangements, after Omni Industries’ people had lunch, they rested in a specially prepared lounge on another floor of the company for over an hour, before returning to Maxim Sinclair’s office at 2:30 PM to continue the unfinished discussions from the morning.

Maxim Sinclair, on his side, was engaged in discussions about the project with Omni Industries, with the key personnel he had personally selected.

Meanwhile, in various chat groups within Sinclair Group, gossip about Maxim Sinclair was spreading like wildfire.

"This is a true scoop, Hudson saw it with his own eyes. When he barged into President Sinclair’s office without knocking, President Sinclair and that Miss Huxley were embracing by the window."

"Embracing by the window... could lead to... you know what next?"

"Who knows, but won’t Hudson be in danger? After all, he interrupted the boss’s good moment!"

"Tch, speaking of which, Hudson is indeed in trouble."

"Thanks to Hudson for bringing us the big scoop in person, and we’ll remember you."

...

Downstairs, having seen off the Omni Industries group on behalf of Maxim Sinclair, Assistant Collins entered the elevator only to be surrounded by a few people inside.

With a head full of questions, Assistant Collins looked at the people in front of him, whose eyes seemed to be almost glowing: "What are you guys up to?"

One of the men, who had a good personal relationship with Assistant Collins, knowingly smiled: "What’s the relationship between today’s Miss Huxley and President Sinclair?"

Still in confusion, Assistant Collins let out a "huh" and said inexplicably, "The families have been family friends for generations, they’ve known each other since childhood. What’s wrong?"

"Is that true? How come I’ve heard that this Miss Huxley is the future wife of our group’s president!"

Everyone surrounding him nodded, their eyes filled with doubt about his answer.
