Hero Hack: Reversing Heroes and Raising Harem-Chapter 226: Never-Ending Night Shift
Chapter 226: Never-Ending Night Shift
A few weeks had passed.
The city had gone quiet again, but no one felt safe.
The heroes had stopped three mutant attacks in three different zones, and each time, the monsters had been stronger.
Blazren knew it wasn’t over.
He stood in front of a tall monitor inside the central Hero Command room.
He was watching real-time feeds from all zones.
Neuro walked in, his black boots silent against the steel floor.
His visor blinked softly with lines of unread data.
Blazren didn’t turn. "Any progress?"
Neuro came to a stop beside him. "You mean their location?"
Blazren nodded once. "The Beastkin Brood. Have you found them yet?"
Neuro’s face stayed still, but his fingers twitched. "No."
Blazren turned now, eyes narrowing. "Nothing?"
Neuro shook his head slowly.
"They’ve covered the wavelength."
"Whatever signal their serum gave off—it’s blocked now."
"I’ve been scanning day and night. I can’t track them unless they make another move."
Blazren frowned. "So we can only react. Not strike first."
"Correct," Neuro said.
"And even then, the delay between detection and response is too slow. We’ve been lucky."
Blazren exhaled. "How about Iron Tuskrager?" ƒгeewёbnovel.com
Neuro hesitated. "No change."
Blazren’s brow furrowed. "He didn’t talk?"
Neuro’s gaze lowered slightly. "He’s dead."
Blazren’s arms dropped to his sides. "What?"
"He bit down on a capsule hidden in his molar," Neuro explained.
"Instant poison. Fast-acting, melted his throat and brain stem."
Blazren’s jaw clenched. "We didn’t even detect it?"
"No," Neuro replied. "It was beast-tech."
"Organic. Buried under his tusk plating. Our scans didn’t catch it."
Blazren cursed under his breath. "So we couldn’t even read his mind."
Neuro nodded. "He wiped his memory center. Even my scanners pulled nothing."
Blazren paced a few steps, his footsteps heavy.
"That monster... he would rather die than speak."
Neuro folded his arms. "That’s loyalty. Or fear."
"Drask," Blazren said. "He’s still calling the shots. He’s preparing something worse."
Neuro looked back at the map. "They’re hiding. Moving."
"Every lab they’ve used so far—abandoned, burned. No trace left behind."
Blazren’s face stayed calm, but his eyes burned with frustration.
"Damn it," he muttered.
"So we really just have to wait for them to make a move?"
Neuro stood beside him, visor still glowing with data.
His voice was flat as usual. "Yes. As of now, that’s all we can do."
Blazren exhaled sharply through his nose. "That’s not a plan. That’s just hoping."
Neuro didn’t reply.
Blazren turned away from the map and started pacing.
Each step echoed in the steel room.
"This is infuriating."
"Every time we gain something, they vanish. Every damn time."
"They’re organized," Neuro said.
"That doctor, Syvarn—he’s not just a scientist. He’s a planner. Every move has a backup."
Blazren stopped walking. His fingers tapped his elbow.
"And Drask? He’s not letting up either. Every attack gets stronger."
"The mutants are faster, tougher. They’re testing us."
Neuro looked up. "They’re adapting."
Blazren shook his head. "We can’t let them catch us off guard again."
He turned to Neuro. "I want every hero in every zone on full alert."
"From A-Rank up. They all need to stay sharp. Anyone slacking gets pulled out."
Neuro nodded. "Agreed."
Blazren walked back to the table. "And gear. We need something for early warning. Simple, fast, cheap."
Neuro tilted his head slightly. "Define ’simple.’"
"Something any hero can use," Blazren said.
"Something that picks up even a trace of that serum’s wavelength. Doesn’t need to be perfect—just needs to warn them."
Neuro’s fingers moved, calling up several files on his visor.
"I can make a low-range scanner. Wrist-mounted. Set to ping when it senses anything close to the serum’s structure."
"Good." Blazren stepped closer. "Make enough for every patrol unit."
Neuro’s eyes flicked back to the screen. "Will take time."
Blazren crossed his arms again. "Start now. No delays."
Neuro gave a small nod. "Understood."
Blazren looked at the blinking red lights again.
They reminded him of scars—old wounds still burning on the city.
"If they want to test our patience," Blazren muttered, "then fine. Let them come."
He looked at Neuro.
"But this time... we’ll be ready."
---
A few more weeks passed.
The city had been quiet—too quiet. Patrols were doubled.
Wavelength scanners had been distributed across the zones.
Most heroes returned to routine, but tension still hung in the air.
Then the alarms hit.
Blazren stood in the central command room when red alerts flashed across the entire map.
The alert sirens rang louder than ever. The zone monitors all blinked at once.
An officer ran up to Blazren with a tablet in hand, panting.
"Director! Multiple attacks—simultaneously!"
Blazren’s eyes narrowed. "Which zones?"
"BA-2, BC-3, BD-3, and BB-2," the officer said.
"Mutant-level readings. Dozens of them in each zone!"
Blazren grabbed the tablet and scanned the data himself. His grip tightened.
Neuro’s voice came in over the comms.
"Confirmed. It’s them. The serum mutants. All [Feral Beastkin]."
"All highly active. I’m reading over forty separate combat signals."
Blazren stepped forward, his voice loud and clear.
"Send the alert to all divisions. Full mobilization. This is not a drill!"
Officers started shouting orders. Screens shifted.
Multiple live feeds came in—chaos across the city.
In BA-2, a group of mutants with glowing eyes and twisted claws charged into a parking tower.
Civilians screamed and ran.
Three A-Rank heroes were already engaging, but were pushed back by sheer force.
One mutant roared and slammed through a truck.
Another leapt onto a building wall and tore through concrete.
"They’re like wild beasts," one of the heroes said, gritting his teeth.
"And strong—way stronger than before!"
In BC-3, a group of ten mutants clashed with a hero squad.
Fire, ice, and sonic attacks lit up the area. But for each one that fell, another pushed forward.
A mutant with a long tail smashed through a barrier and sent two heroes flying.
Blazren watched the feeds and clenched his fists. "So this is it... Their full assault."
Skybrand appeared at his side, blades already attached to her waist.
"Orders, sir?"
Blazren turned toward her. "Join the BC-3 team. They’re outnumbered."
"Hit from above—[Skyline Execution] only when you get the mark."
Skybrand nodded and dashed out.
Neuro’s voice crackled again. "They’re spreading us thin. This isn’t just an attack—it’s a message."
Blazren growled. "They want chaos? We’ll give them a war."
He turned to the operations team. "Keep the scanners running."
"Find the origin point. Somewhere in this mess, they’re watching. And when we find them..."
He slammed his fist into the table.
"...we end this."
All around him, the heroes of the city began to move.
Sirens echoed through the sectors. Jets lifted. Bikes roared.
And the battle against the unleashed mutant wave had begun.
