Chapter 97: Important Things That Keep Being Delayed

Sean’s memory loss not only affected his life at home with Odelia and his family, but also his life at the company. There are many things that cannot be decided by the deputy CEO because these things must be taken directly by Sean as the main owner of the company.

However, everything is difficult to do because Sean’s memory of anything related to the company has not fully recovered. This hampered the running of TechnOzone Company and several other things that had actually been planned before the accident.

Sean himself realizes that he does have a very big responsibility at home and at the company. But he also knew he needed time to remember all the events and when this day came for an important meeting, he could not make any decisions.

Megan was trying to help, but she herself didn’t really understand the technology-related issues her brother’s company was dealing with.

"What am I supposed to do now? I can’t remember anything about my company. Even if I do remember something, I still can’t make any decisions in my current state. It’s going to be a big decision and affect the running of the company," said Sean, who was frustrated by this, wishing he could remember more things, especially about his work.

Given that it had been almost 6 months since he had held a decision in the company due to his circumstances. And now he must be able to make himself remember all those things again to be able to return to work.

At least even though his legs cannot be used properly, his memory can run normally as before the accident so that he can resume his activities as before.

For almost a day, Sean stayed in his office to relearn all the things his company had done. He hoped that this would stimulate his memory so that he could remember more things about his company.

"I feel very worried seeing him trying so hard to remember all these things. But what can I do other than support him?" said Odelia, who could only watch her husband’s study, which had been closed since this morning.

"I know you’re very worried about him, but what can we do as you said. We can only support him because it’s his decision and it’s also for the future of many people," said Megan who was equally worried.

"Do you think it’s going to be okay?"

"I hope so, I hope Sean doesn’t cross his limits of what he can do. Although I’m sure he will," she commented.

She still felt very worried, and waited until Sean was named to help her out of the study. Odelia had already delivered the drinks and snacks that her husband might need.

Even earlier, Carmelia had kept calling out to him because she wanted to play. But Odelia reminded her that her father was busy at work, but little Carmelia didn’t really understand what her mother was saying.

When dinner time finally arrived, Odelia had an excuse to go into her husband’s study to bring him dinner.

She walked in carrying a tray, and knocked on his study door. Followed by their daughter crawling and banging on the door.

"Dada!" she called.

"Come in!" he answered from inside and Odelia opened the study door, seeing Sean still sitting in his desk chair with a serious look on his face, looking at the document in his hand.

Seeing this scene, Odelia was reminded of the time when Sean had not yet lost his memory and it felt like everything was like before.

’I don’t know why I miss times like this, times when every time I entered this study I saw him looking at every document seriously. Seeing how his very handsome face turns to me and smiles,’ she thought as she placed Sean’s dinner on the table.

"It’s time for dinner, dear. I know you’re focused on your work right now, but don’t miss your dinner," Odelia told him.

"Thank you," Sean said as he smiled at her then felt two tiny hands holding onto his left leg to stand up.

He looked down and saw Carmelia who was standing holding on to his pants. The little girl smiled and he smiled back. Slowly Sean lifted her body onto his lap while putting all the documents away from Carmelia.

"She’s been calling you since a while ago. It looks like she wants to invite you to play like she usually does," she said

"Really? Sorry, I have to work today and can’t take you to play. But later maybe I can play with you for a while," said Sean, who then pulled out his dinner plate.

Odelia helped to tidy up Sean’s paperwork temporarily so that he could freely eat at his desk.

With one hand holding Carmelia’s body, he ate his lunch together with his little daughter who was holding her own milk bottle.

She smiled at the sight, even though she had tried to pull their daughter away from him, but Sean refused. Likewise, Carmelia leaned into her father’s chest.

"You’re a real Daddy girl hmn?" she said with a chuckle and sat down on a chair while watching the two of them.

"Odelia," he called.

"What’s wrong?" she replied, still watching the two of them.

"Do you think if I ask the doctor to remove the metal brace on my leg, it would be a good idea? If my leg continues like this, it will be difficult for me to walk because I can’t bend it slightly."

Sean wanted to try using the cane again to walk, although he would have to wear it when he went to the company later. Because next week he wanted to attend an important meeting that he was currently studying for his company’s big decision. And he didn’t want to miss this again, his legs were the obstacle right now.

"I don’t know, you should discuss this directly with the doctor because he knows more about the condition of your leg. If he thinks it’s not time to remove the brace, then it’s better not to," Odelia replied.

The iron was put in place to prevent Sean’s leg from bending due to damage to the bones and other parts of his leg. Therefore the iron was installed like a long stick that was tied to his leg to keep it straight like a normal leg.

"I know that, if it continues like this, it will be difficult for me to do other activities and I can’t possibly continue to depend on you. My memory problems can still be solved with new memories and about the company I can relearn it, but this time the thing that hinders me is the injury to my leg," explained Sean at that time which Odelia could understand.

However, Odelia herself did not know the decision to be given considering that she was not a doctor let alone knew the details of her husband’s leg. She just didn’t want Sean to suffer a worse injury because he forced himself to remove the assistive device on his leg.

She could understand how Sean wanted to try to live his life back to normal, but was hindered by his current physique.

"You also have to go through some therapy to walk normally again. I think it will still take a long time for that," Odelia said.

But after some discussion, Odelia invited Sean to go to the doctor the day after tomorrow to check on the progress of his leg. That way they would know what decision to make and they could discuss it directly with the doctor who was treating his leg injury.

Sean agreed, and Odelia made an appointment with the doctor the day after tomorrow to consult about her husband’s leg. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

"But even if the brace is removed, that means you still have to use a cane. Are you sure it’s okay to use it to go to the company?" Odelia asked with concern.

"Are you worried that all my employees will notice me using a walking stick? I thought the same thing at first. But it’s much better than having to rely on others. Besides, I’m sure there’s an elevator in the company so I don’t have to go to the trouble of using the fire escape," Sean replied.

He could only nod in understanding if that was his decision.

Two days later, they went to the hospital and had Sean’s leg examined. After X-rays and some other tests, the doctor allowed Sean to remove the metal brace so that he could move his leg again.

Of course, this was good news for them, as Sean was slowly recovering since Odelia always followed the doctor’s orders regarding what foods Sean could and could not eat during his recovery.

"However, it will definitely feel so stiff and difficult to use normally as before. That’s why you have to keep coming for therapy so that the leg is much better and won’t hurt when used to walk," the doctor explained, which Sean and Odelia agreed to.

After completing the examination, Sean did a short therapy while trying to walk with both legs by holding on to the assistive devices in the hospital.

It still hurt so much and he still had trouble using his right leg but Odelia was there to encourage him He felt better and didn’t give up trying to keep his leg recovering slowly as well as his lost memories.

’And once things really get better, I’ll fix what was delayed before, my wife.’
