Marrying My Father's Enemy-Chapter 92: A Dangerous Plan
Chapter 92: A Dangerous Plan
Chapter 92: A Dangerous Plan
The night air outside the penthouse was sharp. The city below seemed restless, mirroring the unease inside Eira’s mind.
She stood on the balcony, leaning on the cold railing, unfocused as she traced the endless maze of lights.
The wind tugged at her hair, but she barely noticed.
Behind her, Callian watched from the doorway, arms crossed, his brows furrowed.
"You’ve been standing there for an hour," he finally said.
Eira didn’t turn around. "I’m thinking."
"About Henry?"
"About everything," she replied. Her voice was calm, but there was a heaviness to it that made
Callian stepped closer.
He came to stand beside her, his eyes fixed on her profile. "Talk to me, Eira."
She sighed, her breath turning visible in the cool air.
"I don’t know if I’m doing the right thing. I thought taking him down would be satisfying, that it would give me peace. But now..." Her voice trailed off.
"Now what?"
"Now it feels like I’m standing on quicksand. The more I try to pull him down, the deeper I sink."
Her fingers gripped the railing, turning white. "What if I’m becoming like him?"
Callian’s jaw itched.
He placed a hand over hers, his touch grounding.
"You’re nothing like him, Eira."
"How do you know?" She finally turned to face him, her eyes bright with unshed tears. "Revenge changes people, Callian. It warps them. What if it’s already warped me?"
Callian studied her for a long moment, then shook his head. "You’re wrong. Henry manipulates, destroys, and abandons. You fight because you’ve been hurt, because you want justice. That’s not the same."
Eira looked away, her shoulders tensing a little. "It doesn’t feel different."
Callian exhaled, running a hand through his hair.
"Listen to me. This is hard—harder than either of us thought it would be. But you’ve come too far to stop now. You’re not just fighting for yourself; you’re fighting for Marion, for your mother, for everyone he’s stepped on."
Eira’s lip quivered, but she nodded. "You’re right. I can’t stop. Not now." She wiped at her eyes, straightening.
"But I need to be smarter. Every move he makes feels like he’s ten steps ahead."
"That’s because he’s desperate," Callian stated.
"And desperation makes people dangerous, but it also makes them sloppy. He’s bound to make a mistake."
Eira turned to him fully now, her eyes narrowed.
"Then I need to push him harder. Make him so desperate he doesn’t just make a mistake—he unleashes and explodes."
Callian nodded. "I like the sound of that. Do you have another plan?"
"I do," Eira said. She paused, glancing toward the city again. "But it’s risky."
"I wouldn’t expect anything less," Callian said dryly. "What’s the plan?"
Eira hesitated for a moment, then began to speak.
"Henry’s control is his greatest strength. I already took half of it from him—piece by piece."
"Then now it’s time to start not only with his business partners but also with his allies. If they don’t trust him, he’ll start scrambling."
"Exactly. Steven’s our way in. If we can convince him to turn over everything he knows, it’ll plant doubt in the rest of Henry’s circle."
"And his reputation. Henry thrives on looking invincible. And the world already sees cracks in his armor—"
"—he’s losing credibility. Leaking his secrets, resurfacing old scandals, and letting the media do the rest."
"What about his family? Vanesa’s fragile already. If she turns on him—"
"Then Henry loses his last personal connection. No allies. No reputation. No family. Once he’s isolated—"
"He’ll crumble. And that’s when I deliver the final blow."
"Also, Mike informed me that the situation in their mansion isn’t the greatest. They don’t even eat at the same table anymore."
"I know. I sent Vanesa a message before, met with her, and pushed her to overthink."
"Beatrice is still strong. You understand that, right? They need to divorce."
"No, they do not. They need to be sentenced to jail together, Callian."
Callian let out a long sigh. "Can I ask you something?"
"Yes?"
"After you literally beat Vanesa, what makes you think she will come to you?"
Vanesa looked at him. How does he know about me hitting her with a book? she asked herself.
"Because I only slipped because of you. All this time while she was humiliating me, torturing me, and exposing me for whatever reasons—I showed her kindness. And she’s desperate for love. She needs to be loved..."
"I don’t understand."
"Well, I was nice, and she likes the attention. If Henry and Beatrice don’t show her love...she will come to me eventually. And I’ll be that nice little sister who would babysit her."
"So that’s why..."
"Not really. I’m still upset about her situation with you."
"Eira, I—"
"No. It doesn’t matter now. What I need is Henry crawling on his knees, begging for mercy."
Callian raised an eyebrow. "That sounds like a war."
"It is," Eira said simply. "And it starts with Steven now."
Callian leaned back slightly, considering her words. "Steven’s dangerous. He plays both sides, and we don’t know what he really wants."
"That’s why we start with him," Eira said. "If we can either turn him against Henry completely or expose his betrayal, it’ll send a ripple through Henry’s entire network."
Callian nodded slowly. "Okay. And how do you plan to handle Steven?"
"I’ll meet him again," Eira said. "This time, I won’t let him control the conversation. I’ll make him tell me the truth about his involvement with Henry—and Beatrice."
Callian frowned. "That’s risky. What if he’s setting another trap?"
"I’m ready," Eira said firmly. "But I don’t think he will. Steven’s scared. He’s trying to survive just like we are."
"If you’re going to meet him again, you’re not doing it alone."
There was something that Callian didn’t tell her: how he got the documents from Steven.
So, allowing them to meet without him, Callian wasn’t ready to.
Eira smiled faintly. "I didn’t plan to."
"There’s one more thing we need to consider," he said carefully.
"What?" Eira asked.
"Vanesa," Callian replied. "She’s still unpredictable, and she’s already made it clear she’s willing to play dirty even after the lost love. If Henry gets to her first, she could become a problem."
"Vanesa’s a pawn. She’s not thinking for herself. If we can cut her off from Henry, she’ll lose her power...and like I said, she will come to me. And that’s when I’ll strike her."
"And how do we do that?"
"Mike."
