Chapter 771: Chapter 689: Exposé

"OK, this shot is good. The next scene features Hua Tiantian."

Huang Shan glanced at Hua Tiantian as she walked up. Hesitating, she dialed the man’s number and moved to a spot further away from the film set to avoid being overheard.

The call connected.

"It’s me. Did you see my news?"

Already feeling irritable, Huang Shan didn’t really want to call her ex-boyfriend, but she had no choice due to certain motives. Unexpectedly, before she could finish speaking, the man exploded on her.

"You’re famous now, huh? So why are you calling me? Don’t ask me anything—I don’t know."

With that, he hung up, leaving Huang Shan staring dumbfounded at her phone.

"What does ’Don’t ask me, I don’t know’ mean?"

She couldn’t shake the feeling that his words were odd and seemed to carry some hidden meaning. As she thought more deeply about it, she noticed something unusual.

"Could it be that he knows something?"

Anxious and restless, Huang Shan rushed to finish shooting her rescheduled scenes before taking a cab to the neighborhood where her ex-boyfriend lived. Although they hadn’t been in contact for a long time, she still remembered his address. While he wasn’t well-off financially, he did own an apartment. Stepping out of the taxi, she hesitated for a long time without going in.

"I can’t just barge in blindly. I should call him first to check if he’s home."

Huang Shan dialed his number. As soon as she heard his voice, she said, "Shouldn’t you be doing your old job... Look, I’m calling you because I don’t want you saying reckless things to reporters. I’m a public figure now. If you make things hard for me, don’t think I’ll let you off easily... Are you in the bathroom?"

Once she confirmed he was at home, Huang Shan tried to stall for time. Then she heard the sounds of doors opening and closing, prompting her to ask, "What was that just now? Are you heading out?"

Realizing he was about to leave, she immediately hung up and cautiously positioned herself to observe discreetly. Sure enough, five or six minutes later, he appeared. Huang Shan pulled her hat lower and carefully followed him. She saw him get into a cab and quickly hailed another one herself.

"Driver, please follow the cab in front."

Huang Shan’s heart felt heavy. She hadn’t been sleeping well these past few days, constantly worrying about one thing or another. Despite digging deeply, she couldn’t trace the source of her unease. Fixing her gaze on the cab ahead, she was determined to find out where he was going.

"I’ll be there soon. Please wait ten more minutes for me."

In a rush, he hung up, jumped out of the cab, and dashed across the street to a fast-food restaurant.

Huang Shan followed him out of her cab and carefully trailed him into the restaurant.

"Why didn’t Miss Mo come?" the man asked.

"Our Mr. Mo is quite busy. He’s already delegated the matter to me. Whatever you want to say, just tell me directly."

The man hesitated before responding, "Last time, Miss Mo said that if I could provide valuable, sensational gossip, the reward wouldn’t be small. How much can you offer?"

The man in black-rimmed glasses glanced at him with an expression full of disdain. Glancing around to check his surroundings, he lowered his voice and said, "That depends on the value of what you provide. Our company doesn’t mess with fabricated stuff. If it’s fake, we can create it ourselves."

Seated back-to-back just nearby, Huang Shan could barely make out their conversation. The surrounding noise made it difficult to hear clearly.

"What I have is definitely valuable. Plus, last time, I already gave a lot of photos to Miss Mo."

"Alright then, let’s hear it. What else do you have?"

Huang Shan’s heart tightened the moment she heard the word "gossip."
