Pampered by My Ex's Cousin-Chapter 82 - 83 Reluctant Cohabitation (Part 27)
Throughout the ride, the two of them did not exchange a single word.
Ji Anning sat in the back seat, and Ji Jingfeng buckled his seatbelt, glanced at Ji Anning through the rearview mirror, and then he started the car.
"Jingfeng, there is something I want to tell you. You might not believe me, but I still need to explain it to you."
As the car hit the road, Ji Anning finally spoke; she looked at Ji Jingfeng with a serious expression.
Upon hearing this, Ji Jingfeng turned around and looked at her with a puzzled expression, "What is it?"
Ji Anning did not hesitate as she spoke, "The man you saw in the surveillance footage, the man who left the room with me, I actually don’t know him. I don’t know who he is; I haven’t seen his true face even now."
Hearing this, a touch of sarcastic laughter flickered across Ji Jingfeng’s eyes, even though he tried to conceal it, Ji Anning caught it.
She anticipated that he wouldn’t believe her and let out a self-deprecating chuckle.
Oh, Ji Anning, being soft-hearted is a sickness, right? When he and Bai Guo were threatening you with that video, did they ever consider your feelings?
Yet now you’re pathetically considering his feelings, his feelings of being threatened by the great demon.
His currently feigned warmth and consideration must be against his will, who knows what method the great demon used to threaten him.
Ji Anning hung her head low, no longer saying anything, when Ji Jingfeng suddenly spoke up again, "Let’s not talk about it anymore. Mom is going to Garden Island this Saturday. Before she leaves, let’s not give her any more worries."
Saying this, he glanced back at Ji Anning with a cold look.
Ji Anning pursed her lips towards him.
...
The pair remained silent throughout the ride, and when they arrived home and held hands to enter the main gate, Ji Zhengdao, dressed in a suit, just happened to come out of the house. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Meeting their grandfather, Ji Anning and Ji Jingfeng hurriedly nodded their heads, "Good morning, Grandfather."
"Mm." Ji Zhengdao responded emotionlessly, his sharp eyes sweeping over the hands that Ji Anning and Ji Jingfeng were holding, then he looked at Ji Jingfeng and said in a deep voice, "Your mother is going to the island this Saturday. If you have time, try to spend it with her."
Ji Jingfeng nodded slightly, "Yes, I know."
The old man said nothing further and walked past them, each step exuding his authority, compelling people to look him square in the eye.
After seeing the old man off into his car, Ji Jingfeng and Ji Anning then proceeded to change their shoes and enter the house.
"Are you young couples planning to settle outside? If you want to live together, is there no room in the house or what?"
They bumped into Lin Yanqin as soon as they stepped in; she had just come out of the dining room.
Her tone was slightly reproachful.
Before Ji Anning and Ji Jingfeng could say anything, suddenly, Yang Yufang’s cold voice came from upstairs, "Lin Yanqin, you don’t need to meddle in my son and daughter-in-law’s affairs."
She quickly descended the stairs.
Lin Yanqin scoffed at her, "Huh, you were already driven to the island by the old man, I don’t know where you find the confidence to act so haughty here."
Mocking Yang Yufang with a comment, she swiveled her waist and walked upstairs; as she reached the staircase, she brushed past Yang Yufang, both giving each other an annoyed glance.
"Mom, did you have breakfast yet?"
Ji Anning approached Yang Yufang, affectionately linking her arm.
The smile blossomed across Yang Yufang’s face, kind and gentle, "Just had it, have you and Jingfeng eaten?"
The two chatted, and Ji Jingfeng walked over to Ji Anning’s side, wrapping an arm around her waist.
