Chapter 620: Chapter 620: Desolate Divine

While the heavens were being turned over by the arrival of The Web, the Spider arkship, from which all these changes were originating, drifted away.

Kael stared blankly at the golden screens inside his chamber of commerce. He wasn’t saying anything, he wasn’t doing anything.

He was just...still.

It was as if there was a hollowness inside him that shouldn’t be there.

For multiple minutes, the All-King just sat there, staring blankly at nothing.

Soon, a small spatial distortion occurred and Katari appeared beside him with her monolid eyes narrowed while she looked at Kael.

"Your Majesty?" Katari asked, worried.

Kael’s aura was weird, like it was being diluted with something.

Kael did not answer, it seemed like he couldn’t even hear what she was saying in the first place.

So, Katari, out of worry, stretched out her hand to touch Kael’s shoulder.

As soon as Katari touched the fabric of his clothes, she jerked, her eyes trembled before stabilizing again into a trance-like state.

And so, she was standing there, frozen, with Kael.

Just like that, they stood in silence for more than an hour.

Multiple warp messages came from the other arkships asking the All-King if anything was wrong. But there was nothing, no response.

Then, all of a sudden, the light of life returned to Kael’s golden eyes and his fingers twitched.

Instantly, he frowned.

"That’s taken longer than I thought," He said with a certain difference in his look.

He felt the hand on his shoulder and turned around to see Katari, frozen in place with her hand touching his shoulder.

Kael understood what had happened.

Katari didn’t know that Kael’s body had been overflowing with Connection Essence which he had been trying hard to contain and disperse among the other systems.

Katari suddenly blinked, regaining consciousness and looking at Kael with a certain level of understanding.

She had been part of the conversation for more than one hour.

She didn’t know how to describe it. Of course, she had no feeling of amazement or a sense of awe, she was just puzzled.

Such a meaningless conversation was so addictive. If it were anyone else, they would be burdened with the intense desire to go back to that experience.

The feeling of being linked to The Connection was like flying high above everything in the universe and transcending to a state of nigh-omnipotence.

It was like knowing everything and knowing nothing at the same time.

Kael and Katari looked at each other, they didn’t need to explain anything to each other.

Kael knew that Katari had been careless and he also knew that she was just worried about him.

Kael returned his focus to the present. Using telepathy, he sent messages to all the lion kings that had been waiting for his reply, letting them know that all was fine.

Then he returned his attention to the golden screens.

Just more than an hour ago, the integration had been completed. Natalia and the Spider System had turned into a massive host of nodes that linked the systems together with the help of the Law of Connection.

Natalia and the Spiders were not the only ones to put in the effort, Kael also had to step in so that the Lion System could be set as the dominant part and he could serve as a fail-safe anchor, permanently preventing the Connection from being superior to the lions.

And so, the combination of the Primordial Spider, the Primordial Lion, and the Spider System created a new joint entity called The Web.

The Web was not exactly an individual even though it could be called an entity. Rather, The Web was the amalgamation of all the wills and intent of the spiders including Natalia held together by the Law of Connection.

If The Web could be called an artificial intelligence, then the Spiders would be the servers that ensured The Web continued to exist.

Technically, Kael’s consciousness and will were also part of The Web.

Natalia was responsible for twenty percent of The Web, all the spiders and the Spider System made up another fifty percent.

Then, Kael’s consciousness took up a whopping thirty percent of The Web intelligence.

Meaning, The Web would listen to Kael even if he told it to cut Natalia and the spiders off at the cost of its own survival.

Of course, Kael would not do that, the spiders were crucial to the existence of The Web.

But it had to be known that Kael had more authority over The Web than any other spiders in the Spider System.

The creation of The Web had led to the spontaneous generation of Connection Essence. It was not bad, but it was not good.

Natalia, never having received such power in her life, was overwhelmed. It wasn’t like she could digest it all even if she wanted to.

She was linking herself to billions of tyrannical lions at the same time, and becoming part of a newly created form of intelligence.

Definitely, a lot of the Connection Essence being generated had been transferred to Kael.

The Connection Essence gained from connecting to so many creatures at the same time was too much and too strong.

This unintentionally caused Kael to be dragged into the Great Connection and become part of the meaningless conversation.

For more than one hour, Kael couldn’t control himself and had to spend a lot of time redirecting the flow of Connection Essence to the systems.

Luckily, Kael had thought fast, using Connection Essence to strengthen the link between creatures and their systems. The Connection Essence was quickly spent.

Natalia on the other hand had almost died. She wasn’t like Kael who could use his Lion System as a separate power pool to store Conquering Essence.

Well now, she will learn how to do it, or The Web will. But before that, she was really going to have died from the creation of the entity called The Web.

Now, Kael could sense Natalia’s power level rapidly rising. She was already in the process of evolving and achieving a power level equivalent to a tier 6 lion.

"This won’t do," Kael said out loud.

Katari turned to him wondering what was on Kael’s mind for him to speak to her. It wasn’t every day that one could catch Kael expressing his inner thoughts.

"What, Your Majesty?" Katari asked with a kind smile.

"The arkship," Kael said while shaking his head.

At the back of his mind, The Web spoke in a myriad of voices, updating him on all the things happening.

Every second, thousands of reports came in with the strangest speedy voices.

This was what The Web was created for. To connect all systems together. For it to have a collective will was just a plus.

Kael was just glad he didn’t have to be immobile for The Web to exist.

Personally, Kael did not need The Web. He already had the Connection Essence that could do that and he was the literal embodiment of the Lion System and the creator of all other systems.

He didn’t need a separate intelligence to constantly speak to him in his mind, so he shut it off with a thought. Until he saw a need for it before he would use it.

But, for the average users of the many systems existing at the moment and the ones to come in the future, The Web would be very helpful.

Already, Kael could ’see’ many creatures, lions and otherwise, using The Web to interact with the creatures of other systems through the mission board as intended.

"It’s too small," Kael added. He was thinking on a very grand scale. The Web, as enigmatic as it was, was merely another step toward his goals.

There was still so much to do.

So much to conquer.

Katari thought for a moment. She didn’t know whether Kael was just telling her his mind or actually asking for her opinion.

She would be excited if it were the latter.

She thought for some more. Kael was quiet, as if he was not waiting for a reply.

But then, something flashed into Katari’s crazy mind.

Something daring.

Something bold.

Something that would cause Kael to create way more powerful enemies than he already had.

Something that would serve as a declaration to all things existing and not existing.

It was idiotic as it was incredible.

"Kael," Katari said, thinking whether she should say it. She didn’t want to put Kael in danger. But she felt like Kael would definitely like her input so she couldn’t help herself.

"Yes?" Kael asked, an eyebrow raised.

Katari sighed, "I think you’ve been focusing too much on the mortalverse."

"What?" Kael tilted his head, millions of references flashing through his mind as he looked straight at Katari.

"The arkship is too small for the Spiders right? Why don’t we move them to heaven..." Katari said, but Kael shook his head.

"No, I want Leonine Heaven to be pure, don’t suggest..." And then Kael paused, his mind catching up with Katari’s crazy thoughts.

"Another Heaven?" He asked, the edges of his lips curving up slightly.

Katari nodded, the smile on her face widening to a mad grin.

"As I said, you’ve limited your sights and operations to the mortalverse and Leonine Heaven.

Who knows how many other heavenly realms are out there in the entire Heavenverse?

Besides, All-King, the Heavens are part of the universe.

We cannot conquer the universe completely without conquering the heavens.

Your Majesty, let me start making plans for Operation Desolate Divine."
