I stepped to the side quickly, barely avoiding his punch. His fist cut through the air where I had just been, missing me by inches. It was too close.

The crowd in the hall erupted into cheers and shouts, some chanting Ken's name, and a few laughed at the failed attack.

I hadn't expected him to let out a short laugh as well, as he shook his head. His lips curled into a smirk, but there was something like frustration in his eyes. "Stop dodging and fight me like the weak omega you are!" he sneered and lunged at me again, swinging with even more force.

I ducked just in time, feeling the air shift above my head as his fist cut through empty space. His momentum carried him forward, making him stumble slightly before he caught himself.

I straightened, keeping my stance light. Although my heart was pounding, I didn't let it show.

Ken was stronger, but strength wasn't everything. And I wasn't going to let him corner me so easily, that's why I only kept dodging, waiting for him to reveal an opening.

As expected, dodging his third attack only made him angrier. He swung harder, aiming for my face. I sidestepped again and drove a kick into his back, sending him stumbling forward.

By the time he regained himself, he turned to me furiously, all previous traces of pride and playful remarks wiped out of his face as he snorted and charged at me like a mad bull.

Anger. It could be a strength, as it could also be a weakness, and the one I've been pushing him towards was weakness, and he was revealing it, because of how unfocused he now was,

Before, I would've dodged. But this time, I stood firm. No flinching, no hesitation. All what I was feeling was a rush of adrenaline.

And when he tried to jab his elbow at me, I suddenly moved in a flash ducking low, and smoothly slipped under his arm with a precision that caught everyone off guard.

His fist missed completely, slicing through nothing but air.

Before Ken could recover, I reached out swiftly, grabbed his legs, and yanked them out from under him with surprising strength.

He hit the ground hard, his body slamming into the tiled surface.

I yanked a baton from the closer Weapon rack and raised it to strike him.

His hands moved quickly to cover his face.

The baton dropped with a clatter beside him, and rolled out of the circle.

When the expected hit didn't land, he peeked at me through the hands covering his face.

I wasn't going to strike him before, I only faked him and he fell for it.

Stepping out of the circle to see the people watching me with mouths hanging wide open, the whole hall was in great silence.

People are always quick to point fingers, they see a thin and fragile looking omega and come to the conclusion that they're weak, just like Ken, he only saw me for what I am, not who I am, forgetting that underestimating your enemy is the greatest weakness.

I scanned the whole place again for Bella, but the people in the hall were simply too much, so It was impossible to locate her even from up here.

Even though the beta was grunting, and the instructor was saying stuff, I wasn't listening.

I got back to the space I was previously standing beside the purple haired Beta, only to see the space empty, he was no longer here. He left.

Things ended quicker than I expected at the assembly for some unknown reasons.

I was the first to step out of the assembly hall, I had a hell of a time locating this space, and I knew it was going to be just like that while finding my way back to the room I was in, considering I had always had a hard time recollecting routes.

The directories had been a great help earlier, so I was turning to them when I suddenly felt someone behind me, before I could turn to look at them their hand had already crossed around my shoulder as though to squeeze my frame flat against her body.

"You were supposed to finish him off back then. I even thought you're going to do it."

I grunt, pushing her arms away from my shoulder, but she wrapped it around the very minute it was off. I knew she's definitely going to keep doing that, so I gave up and answered instead, "I wanted to. He earned that much."

She smiled, shaking her head in agreement, "Sounds like you. You know sometimes you act like a villain?"

"What about the super part of it?"

She burst out laughing, "Super? Stop it kain, if you were to be put up against a High grade beast... lets say grade B, will you stand a chance?"

"If you are with me. You could make a good human shield." I croaked out because she tightened her arm so much it could crush me towards the ending.

She groaned dramatically. Smacking my shoulder, "That's all you think of your best friend forever? You're impossible, Kain."

I smirked. "And yet, here you are, still clinging to me."

She squeezed even tighter, making me grunt. "Maybe I'm just waiting for the day you beg for my help." She said,

I exhaled sharply. "Not happening."

She tilted her head, pretending to think. "Oh? What if a Grade A beast shows up? Then what?"

I shrugged, ignoring the slight ache in my ribs. "Simple. I run, and you deal with it."

"Chicken." She snorted.

I finally pried her arm off and stepped away, rolling my shoulders. "Survivor."

She crossed her arms, studying me with a knowing smile. "You say that, but we both know you'd turn back."

I didn't answer right away. Instead, I glanced at the ground, then at her. "Maybe. Depends on who's left standing."

She hummed, rocking on her heels to catch up with me, "Sounds like you."

I sighed. "You already said that earlier."

She smirked. "Because it keeps being true." She said jumping on me again.

I only nodded, by now I'm starting to see we're near the very first directories I saw, meaning we must be close to the room.

"So... Caspian didn't come? I thought you said he was going to be at the homecoming?" I asked, even though him not being there was a great burden being lifted off my chest.

"I thought the same. I mean he was supposed to be here... Who cares anyways? It's not as if I've seen a homecoming before, at least not like a past member would show up tomorrow and they'll be taking them back, that's if Kael hadn't gotten them and robbed them of their lives."

Typical things that occurred in the base, an escape member was damned to be killed if caught, so I get what she was trying to say.

"It's quite nice he didn't show up, if he had, we probably would still be at the assembly, staring at those dead eyes." She said with a nervous laugh, releasing her hold on me.

"Yeah." I replied simply, looking up to see we are now at the room door,

I opened the door, massaging my shoulder that now ached a little, "What? Not coming inside?" I asked as I stepped inside, noticing she was still by the door.

"No." She answered simply,

And then my mind fished back to what she told me yesterday about the other roommate, who is he anyway to have such an impact on Bella?

I brushed the door off my mind as quickly as it came, "Then you're going back now?"

She sighed exasperatedly, "That's right, I will see you at the dining tonight."

I nodded and shut the door right after she left and walked to my bed. None of the two roommates were there yet, so I quickly loose the belt and took off the trousers and the body hug I wore before the owner came hacking my body.

I clearly heard him scream he's going to earlier.

I climbed on the bed right after, the bed wasn't soft nor was the foam thick enough to bring comfort, but it could be called nice in such a harsh environment as this one.
