Special Forces Medic-Chapter 624 - 586 Dismemberment
Hua Qingyi, without a second thought, flipped over and leaped onto the rooftop, and just as he did, a shadow darted into the spot where he had just paused. He heard a woman’s voice but didn’t have time to figure out who it was. Hua Qingyi somersaulted down and reached from behind to grab the woman’s shoulder, only to find that her back seemed to have eyes. She turned her arm and brought it straight toward Hua Qingyi’s chest.
Underestimating the woman’s skills, Hua Qingyi attacked again from the left, only to be dodged once more. "Who are you?" Hua Qingyi asked defensively, trying to see her face clearly. But in the dimness, he could only make out her profile.
"Hua Qingyi?" The woman, recognizing his voice, leaped back.
"Wu Shuang?" This time it was Hua Qingyi who was surprised. He halted his forward motion, pointing at Wu Shuang with disbelief all over his face. "Why are you here?"
"That’s what I want to ask you. Why are you here? Weren’t you downtown?" Wu Shuang gathered her wind-tousled hair and tied it with a band at the back of her head. "Xiao Lin said you wouldn’t be here for a few days."
"I couldn’t wait, so I rushed over. Weren’t you with my brother? Where is he?"
"I don’t know! We found a lot of issues here yesterday. He told me to return to the bureau to mobilize some people, to secretly lurk here. He stayed to continue surveying. Didn’t you see him?" Seeing Hua Qingyi’s face, Wu Shuang realized a serious problem—Xiao Lin had disappeared. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
"Did you kill this person?" Hua Qingyi felt that he had asked a foolish question, but looking at the scattered fragments of the human body, he had no mood for self-mockery. What did Xiao Lin’s disappearance imply? A crisis? Taken away? Or had he found some clue?
"The coroner will be here soon!" Wu Shuang stifled the churning in her stomach, ran to the side, thinking even a greasy, soap-like corpse wasn’t as disgusting as this.
"Mu Rongyun?" Hua Qingyi found a bamboo stick and started gathering the fallen limbs piece by piece, seemingly needing to break a few more clay pots to collect all the parts. "You’ve been close to him lately."
"He’s my colleague!"
"You should know his background, but still get so close. Be careful not to play with fire." Hua Qingyi offered a casual reminder, but he didn’t expect it to hit Wu Shuang deeply. She closed her mouth and didn’t speak for a long time.
"I think without a coroner, I can tell who he is." Hua Qingyi indeed broke several more clay pots and extracted more parts from within, some of which couldn’t be assembled together, as it required putting ears, noses, eyes, and teeth onto a head, something he absolutely couldn’t do, so he’d leave it for the perverted one!
"Who is it?"
"Wang Canghai!" Hua Qingyi raised a piece of skin with the bamboo stick, still attached to flesh.
Suddenly, Hua Qingyi chuckled. How foolish was he? Wu Shuang, bewildered, looked at this laughing man. Was there something funny about this corpse?
"Who is he? How do you know him?"
"Are you interrogating me?" Hua Qingyi was in a foul mood. He had overlooked an important detail.
"I’m not interrogating you." Not arguing with him, Wu Shuang deliberately stood far from the corpse. "I just want to understand the reason and connection behind this man’s murder."
"Wang Canghai, a branch of the Wang Family, one of the north district’s underground suppliers." Hua Qingyi walked to the lake with Wu Shuang and lit a cigarette.
"Underground supplier?"
"Aren’t you investigating Ah San and the female corpse case? Including the highway car accident, it should all relate to this." Hua Qingyi turned slightly to see Wu Shuang’s surprised expression.
"Xiao Lin and I came here to find someone and accidentally discovered illegal drug dealings." Hua Qingyi saw Wu Shuang’s pale face and offered her a cigarette, which was refused.
"We suspect there’s a connection between these two cases. The female corpse’s identity was Xiao Mei, and had unusual ties with the deceased leader over there, so we suspect Xiao Mei was also a part of the illegal drug sales, possibly killed for some reason, and as for Ah San, bad luck for him to be involved in this mess, damned if he did, damned if he didn’t."
"Why did Wang Canghai die?"
"Maybe because of us..." Hua Qingyi couldn’t recall if anyone else appeared when they met Wang Canghai. The innkeeper? Director Zhao? The boss’s wife? Any of them could be, but then again, maybe not.
"Ah San was dismembered too, and the place where the body was found wasn’t the first crime scene."
"So, maybe the person who killed Ah San is the same one who killed Wang Canghai."
"You mean assassin?"
"Yes, you’ll have to ask your good colleague." Hua Qingyi pointed past Wu Shuang’s back. "Why not ask that person, perhaps he knows more than we do."
Wu Shuang turned her head, seeing the dust kicked up by the distant vehicle approaching. Mu Rongyun, having jumped off the car, already smelled the scent of decay in the air, frowned, and adjusted his glasses on his nose.
"Another corpse?" He approached Wu Shuang without glancing at Hua Qingyi.
"Right there!" Wu Shuang pointed to the figure Hua Qingyi had reassembled.
"Dismembered?"
"Just like Ah San, this time placed in clay pots, very complete." Wu Shuang couldn’t bring herself to look at the organs, fearing she might lose control and puke. "The deceased’s identity is Wang Canghai."
"How do you know?" Mu Rongyun stood before the assembled bones, wanting to laugh but holding it in. Too artistic to see any physical features that could discern the deceased’s true identity.
"Based on the tattoos on this person." Wu Shuang explained briefly, turning her head to find Hua Qingyi still standing there, eyes fixed on Mu Rongyun. "He said you would know who did it." After a long time, Wu Shuang mustered the courage to ask this question. She didn’t want to entangle the matter, even though she knew Mu Rongyun’s identity, it shouldn’t interfere with work.
"This isn’t like you!" Mu Rongyun notified people from the bureau to come and clean up the scene, while answering Wu Shuang’s question with his head lowered.
"I just want to know if you really know! Qingyi said it was the assassin who did it."
"Yes!" Mu Rongyun nodded frankly.
"Damn it!" Upon seeing Mu Rongyun nod, Hua Qingyi rushed forward, punching toward Mu Rongyun. "I knew it was you guys! Where is Xiao Lin?"
Seeing this, Wu Shuang quickly embraced Hua Qingyi from behind. "Calm down first, get the facts straight before taking any action. If Mu Rongyun did it, I definitely won’t stop you." Trying to control a raging beast, Wu Shuang felt she was lacking somewhat. She couldn’t suppress this man without exerting all her strength. She looked up, questioning Mu Rongyun with her eyes.
"Xiao Lin disappeared?" (To be continued. If you like this work, feel free to vote for recommendations or monthly tickets at Qidian (qidian.com). Your support is my greatest motivation.)
